Question

Battery won't charge with USB+Computer after ICS Update.

After I updated my Samsung Note from AT&T to ICS, my phone will no longer charge while connected to a computer. I have tried three different USB cables and have the same problem with all of them.

I can connect to the computer with Kies+USB or with USB and access files directly.

The USB cables will charge the phone when used with a wall plug.

I have been able to fully charge my phone with a USB+computer for the last four months without any issues.

Turn your phone off and then take the battery out. Wait about 15 seconds and then put the battery back in and boot up. Hope that helps.

Try this, save all of your files from Kies, then uninstall it. Then, locate all drivers associated your phone, delete them. Now, make sure your security software is off, and plug up your phone and let all the drivers reinstall. Reinstall Kies, then you should be fine. Hope that helped.

Yes, Samsung has said Q2 of 2012 for this update. But that's getting it to AT&T. Gawd only knows how long AT&T is going to take to add all their bloatware and modify it to lock it down the way they like to those things.

It took over 8 months to get the gingerbread upgrade for my captivate.

Q2 has come and gone. Now in Q3 still no update. I agree after paying so much for the handset (back in April) and still no update. This has turned me off of Samsung and AT&T. Was going to update to the S III in July, but no longer for fear of having to wait so long for it to be updated to Jelly Bean.

Getting a basic screen protector isn't a bad idea if you wanna prolong your Note's screen life. The Gorilla glass isn't bulletproof. Don't bother with the Zagg screen protectors, the orange peel texture makes the S-pen use impossible.

You can find generic screen films that you can trim for use with the Note

To Put App Short Cuts on the Home Screen:
1) Click Applications in the Quick Launch Bar
2) Locate desired app.
3) Press and hold on desired app.
4) Drag app out to desired screen.

To Change Apps in Quick Launch Bar:
1) Click Applications in Quick Launch Bar
2) Click the menu key (lower left key, left of the Home key)
3) Click "View Type"
4) Choose "Customizable Grid"
5) Click the menu key again.
6) Click "Edit"
7) Click "OK" (displays on first edit)
8) Locate app.
9) Press and hold on app.
10) Drag app to Quick Launch Bar to replace one of the other apps.
11) Press the Back key (u-turn arrow to the right of the Home key)

Stock apps, which include the carrier specific apps can not be uninstalled without rooting the device. Samsung knows this, so why they want you to call your carrier I don't know. Caveat if you root your phone, you void the warranty and will have little to no help getting support for your device.

Question

Battery Hot and will not continue charging

While charging my battery using the adapter that came with my galaxy note, I heard a beep and indicated that it stopped charging since batter was hot. True enought the back of the note was very hot. It went up to only a 70% charge.

Question

Voice Talk is not working on Wifi network but working on Mobile Data. How do I fix this?

When I try using Voice Talk (similar to S Voice; however, S Voice did not install on the Note after the update to 4.0) it doesn't work over the Wifi network, but, it works over the Mobile Data and works perfectly with this type of network; however, over the Wifi it says it cannot connect to the server and ask to check for the connection.

Hi!

Sorry you are having problems. Let's first try a soft reset. Remove battery > Wait 2 Mins > Replace battery > Reboot your device. If this isn't helping, I suggest trying resetting your wifi router or trying other networks to make certain it isn't an issue with the particular network you mentioned. If you are referring to a 3rd party Voice-to-talk application, the best person to reach out to for detailed troubleshooting would be the app developer.

Likely your routers firewall will need a little tuning to resolve the issue, the ports that the software requires will need to be opened, or that would be a good place to start. You would need to know the ports and protocols the software requires, as well as the user manual for the router you utilize to perform the task.

Look in settings for the stylus, there is an option to sense the S-Pen when hovering over the screen, not sure if that is your issue, but do take a look.

If the youtube video has HD quality available, select it on the video itself while using the mobile version of youtube. It is show as a grayed out HQ in bottom left corner of video

Question

Phone says it is memory full but I still have 16GB left of 32

It seems my Galaxy Note won't install apps to my external SD card how do I get it to do this. It only installs to internal memory which apparently is full. I also noticed that even apps that say they install to SD card only install to internal SD memory how do I get things to my external card?

It means the RAM memory, otherwise it would say storage. A good app for transfering to SD card is App2sd on Google Play store.

Press and hold on the file or folder you would like to move, choose "Move" from the menu, choose "external_sd" from the file list, create a folder or choose a folder where you want to move the file or folder, choose "Move Here"
