What phone do you have? Most phones have an option to recalibrate the screen. I would try that and reset your phone but shutting it down, take out the battery, wait 30secs and then reboot the phone, that is, turn it on.

Thank you for your inquiry. Reception problems can be linked to a number of factors. It may be a building that tends to block the signal due to the nature of its structure. It may also be that the strength of the signal may be particularly weak in that specific area. Geographic conditions, internal software and tower placement play a significant role in how well the phone grabs and maintains a signal. If you feel there are more than just the above factors at work then please call Samsung Customer Support at 1-888-987-4357 for troubleshooting to help determine if the handset should be sent in for repair/service.

You might also contact your Service Provider to verify that you are within their service area.

Hi LukeDuke101,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand that your phone is not showing the name of the person who sent you a text message even when the contact is saved on your address book. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Please try to do a soft reset. Turn of the phone, remove and put the battery back after 1-2 minutes.

It is possible that your contacts are duplicated on your address book that is why its not showing the name of the contacts when you received a text message. Please check your address book and make sure that your contacts are not duplicated.

If contacts are not duplicated and the soft reset didn't work, we advise you to perform a Factory reset on the phone.

You may use the link provided below for the steps on how to do a Factory Reset.

Note: Please copy and paste the entire link on the address bar of your search engine.

Hi duran1992!

Thank you for your correspondence.

Regarding your concern, we recommend formatting the microSD memory card using the Samsung Eternity® Touchscreen Cell Phone (SGH-A867). However, performing this kind of troubleshooting steps will delete all the data saved on the microSD memory card.

For you to format microSD memory card on the SGH-A867 handset, please follow the steps below:

Menu > My Stuff > On Card > Options > Memory Card Settings > Format

Should this troubleshooting step did not work; we invite to contact our Customer Support Center as they can troubleshoot this issue in a timelier manner than we could through forum correspondence.

At your earliest convenience, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Again, we thank you for comments and appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Question

Why is my beloved Eternity display not always going blank when I press the "hold" button

I absolutely love my Eternity (SGH-A867) phone. It has been a mostly reliable constant companion since I got it some time ago. In the past few months it has started to do something that quickly drains down the battery. I hope you can help me understand why this would happen and what I could do to correct it.

Usually, when the "hold" button on the top of the phone is pressed after I use it, the screen will switch to a transition image, dim after a second or two, and go blank after 5 more seconds. This same sequence occurs when the phone times out after a minute of inactivity (with the minute being a selectable time period).

Lately, and somewhat randomly, my phone will not go blank. Instead it will stay in the dimmed display state with the transition image. Functionally the phone is in the hold state and can not be used until the "hold" button is pressed, the display brightens and the screen returns to the normal wallpaper image. The problem is that the phone display will remain in the dimmed display state until I am ready to use it again or notice that it has not turned off.

When the phone is in this "never a blank screen" state the only way I can get it to behave normally is to turn it off, then on again. Fortunately, this action will reset the phone to normal behavior until the next time it refuses to turn off - about a day or two later. I would think that this problem would be due to either a software glitch or some sort of selectable parameter that has gotten corrupted.

There are a few things I can add that may apply here.
1. I always carry the phone in a case attached to my belt.

2. I usually have a earbud and microphone headset on and attached to the phone so that it must be inserted in the case upside down. It has occurred to me that this configuration can cause the "hold" button to be accidentally pressed from time to time. I have always worn the phone this way but over time maybe this has caused the problem to occur.

That's it. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Hi there!

Thanks for your inquiry! We appreciate your patience.

This is an issue that can be resolved by performing a soft reset; power down the device, remove the battery for several minutes, then re-insert and power up. Moreover, performing a soft reset every few days or so might help eradicate the issue entirely. Should this not resolve your issue, please Samsung Customer Support at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357 between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, CST. Question

For Samsung Eternity, I've been using it for around 2 years now, however, my sidebar does not work anymore. There are no gadgets in it? How to repair?

Also, my sister had bought the same phone but her screen messed up. Is there any way to fix it too?

Question

software problem with SGHA867 cell phone

The phone gets in a loop when started. It starts and immediately shuts down and restarts. Is this an easy fix? Where can I have it repaired if possible? What is the cost of repair? Thanks in advance on this matter.
