To change the backlight setting for the SGH-A867 (Eternity) phone, follow the steps below.

1. While in standby mode, press on Menu.
2. Press on Settings.
3. Press on Display and Light.
4. Press on Backlight Time.
5. Press on the desired Backlight setting from the following:
-8 Seconds
-15 Seconds
-30 Seconds
-1 Minute
-3 Minutes
-10 Minutes
6. Press on Save to save the Backlight Time setting.

Note: Lengthy backlight times will drain the battery faster.

If the display goes dark while on a call it is due to the Light Sensor. Light sensors use the ambient light level to adjust both screen brightness/contrast and keypad access. In a bright light condition (outdoors), the sensors cause the phone to increase the brightness and contrast for better viewing. In a dark light condition (while talking on the phone) the sensors detect talk activity and lock the keypad to prevent accidental key presses.

Unlocking the phone to use it for a different network requires permission from your current service provider as We hold a proprietary licensing agreement with them.

Contact your current service provider for assistance on how to unlock it using the unlock code they will provide.

NOTE: Other service provider might not have the exact configuration on the phone for some services offered by your current service provider.

Message on my phone

the message says - Phone Freeze SIM unavailable please contact service provider. I took phone to ATT and they said they couldn't figure out problem to contact Samsung. They tried new SIM card and old SIM card and got same message. The model number is SGH - A867

You can navigate the phone and view some url by going to the web on your Samsung Eternity.

1. In Idle mode, touch ➔ MEdia Net ➔ Enter URL.
2. Use either the onscreen alphanumeric keypad or keyboard, to enter the target Web address, beginning with the www. The http:// prefix is pre-inserted into the text string.
3. Touch to go to the ENTER URL page where you have the opportunity to also add the new page to your Favorites list and assign a display name for the link.

However, if you need further assistance regarding accessing the internet on your handset, I highly suggest contacting your service provider as they have the configuration settings about any services that you might want to have on the phone.

Audio files less than 300 KB are treated as ringtones, whereas audio files which are greater than 300 KB are considered as Music. Users cannot set an MP3 file as a ringtone if it is larger than 300 KB. Some MP3 files transferred to the handset may not be able to be used as ringtones or alerts. You may however try to download a file compressor, using your preferred internet browser on a computer. Try to compress the MP3 file that you have on your phone, to much lower file so as to utilize the MP3 file as your ringtone.

Why does my phone turn off and on by itself?

touch screen wont work at all on my samsung eternity, anyway to get my pics, videos, contacts..ect... of it?

i have a USB cable and am willing to download any softwares that can do this, also when i plug in my USB cable it askes me for a password which i know but unable to put in because of the screen not working, help please!?

To enable or disable the Minute Minder feature follow the steps below:

You can transfer videos from the SGH-A867 (Eternity) phone to the computer using a USB cable via Windows Explorer or mass storage. Please follow the steps below.

1. From the standby screen, ensure that the USB mode setting is set to either Mass Storage or Ask on Connection. To change the USB mode:
-From the standby screen, press on Menu.
-Press on Settings.
-Press on Connectivity.
-Press on Select USB Mode.
-Press on the desired USB Setting from the following:
*Ask on Connection
*Samsung PC Studio
*Media Player
*Mass Storage
-Press on Save to keep the USB Mode setting.

2. Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Headset jack/Adapter jack & the computer's USB slot. When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top of the display.
3. If prompted, Select the Mass Storage USB setting.
4. Select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" on the new Removable Disk screen.
5. Navigate to the picture location, inside the Pictures folder.
6. Open Windows Explorer.
7. Drag and drop or copy and paste the picture to the desired destination on the computer.

Regarding your concern, upon checking the specifications and settings on the Samsung Eternity® Touchscreen Cell Phone (SGH-A867), the handset has an Illumination bar, which is located at the bottom of the phone. This feature flashes a strip of color along the bottom of the phone once an event condition (such as incoming call, message, alarm, and turning the phone on/off) is met.

For you to enable this feature, please follow the steps below:
1. From Idle mode, touch Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Display and Light ➔ Illumination.
The illumination bar will activate during any of the following situations:
• When an incoming call is received
• When an incoming message is received
• When the alarm rings
• Power is turned On or Off.
• When the phone is charging (while powered off).

Thank you for your inquiry.

For you to connect the phone to the PC and transfer information, it would require you to have the memory card inside the phone and a compatible data cable. You also need to download on your computer the driver for the Samsung Eternity® Touchscreen Cell Phone (SGH-A867), which is the Samsung New PC Studio.

For you to download the Samsung New PC Studio on your computer:
1. Deactivate the antivirus and firewall on your computer.
2. Open the web browser and then log on to this link:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportDownloadCenter.do?prd_ia_cd=N0000003&prd_mdl_cd=SGH-A597ZBAATT&prd_mdl_name=SGH-A867

3. Click on the software tab and then download the compatible driver for the type of OS on your computer.
4. Save the driver on your desktop.
5. Once download is complete, double click on the EXE file and click on Run.
6. Follow the procedure to install it.

For you to connect the phone to your computer and transfer music files, please follow the procedures below:
1. From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting is set to either PC Studio or Ask on Connection.
Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Select USB Mode > Ask on Connection or Samsung PC Studio > Save
2. Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Headset jack/Adapter jack & the PC's USB slot.
• When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top of the display
3. If prompted, select the PC Studio USB setting.
• The New Samsung PC Studio program will automatically appear on the PC
4. Click on the SGH-A867 icon, located in the upper right corner, to open a box showing the handset's internal memory.
5. Double click on the Audio folder then double click on the Music folder.
6. Click on the My Computer icon, located in the upper left corner, to open a box showing the PC's internal memory.
7. Navigate to the PC's music file location, or destination.
8. Drag and Drop or Copy (or Cut) and Paste the picture files between the My Computer box and the SGH-A867 box or vice versa.
9. After the successful transfer of the picture file(s), click on OK in the Device Explorer or My Computer box.
10. Now it is safe to disconnect the USB data cable from the two devices.

Tips:
• Make sure the USB data cable is compatible with your phone model. You can always check for the correct data cable by looking at the model number on http://www.samsungwireless.com in your phone's accessories section.
• Remember to select file formats and file sizes supported by the phone when uploading files to the phone from the PC.

The following provides instructions and steps toward managing your My Stuff folder. Toward the bottom of this entry, you will see how to delete items.

The topics covered in this section include Applications, Audio,
Games, Picture, Tools, Video, Other Files, and Used Space.
1. Touch ➔ My Stuff.
2. Select from one of the following functions: Applications,
Audio, Games, Pictures, Tools, Video, Other Files, or Used
Space.
3. If you have a memory card in your phone, touch the filter
drop down (upper-right of My Stuff page) to filter the
entries based on their current location (All, Phone, or
Memory Card).
My Stuff Functions
This page provides you with several functions that you can
activate from virtually any page within the My Stuff directories.
Most editing features are only applicable to those files/folders
that are not locked.
1. Touch ➔ My Stuff.
2. Select from the following:
• Create Folder: create a new My Stuff folder on either the Phone or
Memory Card.
• Manage: allows you to move or copy an existing unlocked folder or
file.
• More: provides you with the ability to Delete, Rename, Sort by,
Send via Bluetooth, Bluetooth Visibility, and Lock/Unlock certain files
or folders.
Creating a New Folder
1. Touch ➔ My Stuff ➔ Create Folder.
2. If you have a microSD card inserted, you are asked where
you want the new folder created. Select Phone or Memory
Card.
3. Use the on-screen alphanumeric keypad to create a new
name for the folder and touch once your are done.
Managing Files and Folders
1. Touch ➔ My Stuff ➔ Manage.
2. Select a migration option by touching either Move or Copy.
• Move: takes an unlocked file/folder and moves it to a new location.
• Copy: takes the selected file/folder and duplicates it in the new
location.

3. Select an unlocked entry by touching it to then place a
checkmark next to the entry.
• Touch All to place a checkmark alongside all available/unlocked
items.
4. Once complete, touch Move/Copy.
5. Touch Phone or Memory Card depending on where you
want to copy or move the files to.
6. Select the folder to copy or move the files to. Touch New
folder to create a new folder.
7. Touch Paste here/Move here to copy or move the files.
More Functionality
1. Touch ➔ My Stuff ➔ More.
2. Select an on-screen option:
• Delete: erases selected files/folders.
• Rename: renames the selected files/folders.
• Sort by: sorts the current available files and folders using either:
Date, Type, Name, or Size.

Question

How can i recalibrated the touchscreen on my Samsung Eternity if I cannot select the settings icon?

My phone recently somehow recalibrated itself to where every time I try to press a button or select an icon it always selects the thing about one centimeter to the left of where i pressed my finger. I cant fix this myself because the settings icon is in the lower right-hand corner of the screen making it impossible to select (I can get into the main menu oddly enough though).
