Yes, a very simple way. Just put super glue around the button. You could always cut the glue out later if you wanted to activate the feature.

Yes there is! I just purchased the rugby, and I had the same issue. Simplest solution is to use an exacto knife to pry the button off, Then, use the knife to remove the small center post from the back of the button. Reinstall, and it will never work, and also doesn't affect your phones waterproofing.

There appears to be no software solution, but you can pry the button out of the phone and snip off the little protrusion that actually pushes against the real switch in the phone. Of course, this is a permanent method, and you would have to procure a new button if you decided at a later date to use PTT.

Here's how I did it... Pry the button off the outside of the phone. Be carefull! I used a small electronics screwdrive. Clip off the little pushrod on the backside of this button. Push the button back onto the case (rounded corners on the bottom). Now you can push that button forever and nothing happens! I accidently push this button all the time, what a nuisance! Hi CraigAdkins!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Regarding your concern, for you to transfer music between the Samsung Rugby™ ll Cell Phone (SGH-A847) and a computer, it would require you to have a compatible USB data cable, a microSD memory card inserted on the phone and download the Samsung New PC Studio for the SGH-A847 on your computer.

For you to download the Samsung New PC Studio on your computer:

1. Deactivate the antivirus and firewall on your computer.
2. Open the web browser and then log on to this link:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportDownloadCenter.do?prd_ia_cd=N0000003&prd_mdl_cd=SGH-A847ZAAATT&prd_mdl_name=SGH-A847

3. Click on the software tab and then download the compatible driver for the type of OS on your computer.
4. Save the driver on your desktop.
5. Once download is complete, double click on the EXE file and click on Run.
6. Follow the procedure to install it.

If the microSD memory card came from another phone and you could not saved any files on it. Try to format the microSD memory card using your phone so that the phone will recognize the microSD memory card inserted in it.

To format microSD memory card using the SGH-A847 handset:
1. Insert a microSD memory card into the memory card slot, located under the phone battery.
2. From the standby screen, press the right soft key for Menu.
3. Select My Stuff.

5. Highlight Audio, Pictures, or Videos, using the navigation keys.
6. Press the left soft key for Options.
7. Select More.
8. Select Memory Card Settings.
9. Select Format.
10. Press the left soft key for Yes to confirm formatting the microSD Memory Card.

Note: This action will erase the SD card in the phone. You will lose all data on the card.

Connecting the phone to the computer:
1. Change the USB settings on the SGH-A847 handset:
a. From the standby screen, press the left right key for Menu.
b. Select Settings.
c. Select Connectivity.
d. Choose Select USB Mode.
e. Highlight the PC Studio or Ask on Connection.
f. Press the left soft key for Select to save the USB Setting.
2. Connect the USB data cable between the phone and a computer port, and if prompted, select PC Studio.
3. Open Samsung New PC Studio on your computer and wait until the model of the phone appear on the PC studio window.
4. Navigate the Samsung New PC Studio to find the information you want to transfer between the computer and the phone.

Hi DHaefner!

Thank you for your inquiry.

To initiate a voice command session follow the steps below:

1. From the home screen, press on Menu
2. Press My Stuff
3. Press Tools
4. Press Voice Recognition
5. Speak one of the following Voice Recognition “Say a Command” options to initiate a session:

◦Call (Name or #)
◦Send Message (Name or #)
◦Lookup (Name)
◦Go To (Menu)
◦Check (Item)

When it recognizes one of these commands, the handset launches the associated application. If Voice Recognition does not hear a command within approximately eight seconds, it deactivates voice recognition without taking any action.

Note: If a name has only a single number, or if you know the name but are not sure which number to call, say “Call” followed by the name only. For example, say “Call John.” If the name is recognized and there is only one number for the name, Voice Recognition immediately places the call. If there are multiple numbers stored for the contact, the phone prompts you with “Which Location?” and displays a list of options. Select an option by speaking it into the microphone or pressing the location.

Try and turn off the AT&T AddressBook Auto Sync in the Address Book settings in the menu of the phone. That might be the solution because when it syncs automatically and completes, it makes that bloop/twirl sound. If that doesn't do it then try and edit your Sound Profile and lower phone sounds to off. (Not call sounds tab or text sounds tab, you want the phone sounds tab). Hope this is the solution.

For troubleshooting, you may try to set a different ringtone on the handset. It might be the type of tone you have chosen or the phone itself.

However, if you pertain to the tone that’s like ascending when your phone rings, then it is a default on the phone due to the fact that Samsung is avoiding acoustic shock to our valued customers.

Hi bogie7777!
Thank you for your inquiry.

Handset sounds, such as audible message alerts and ringtones are all profile dependent. Profiles contain all the information associated with the volume settings and levels of the handset. This includes ringers, alarms, notifications, and system sounds. The profile message alert type & tone allows you to choose the alert type that sounds when receiving a new text messages, Multimedia messages, and Email. There are four different preloaded audio profiles that have the ability to be edited.

To edit profiles follow the steps below:

1.While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu
2.Select Settings
3.Select Sound Profiles
4.Highlight the profile to be edited, using the navigation keys, then press the key to Edit one of the following Profiles:
