Yes, audio profiles contain all the information associated with the volume settings and levels of the handset. This includes ringtones, alarms, notifications, and system sounds. The profile message alert type & tone allows you to choose the alert type that sounds when receiving a new Text messages, Multimedia messages, and Email. There are four different profiles that are preloaded and all have the ability to be edited.

The SGH-a847 (Rugby II) phone provides the ability to playback MP3 files, assign them as a contact ringtone, alarm tone or as the incoming call ringtone. The music player supports audio files with extensions MP3, MP4/AAC, M4A, 3GP/AAC, 3GP/AMR, WAV, WMA, REAL or MIDI.

Note: Audio files less than 300 KB are treated as ringtones, whereas audio files which are greater than 300 KB are considered as Music. You cannot set an MP3 file as a ringtone if it is larger than 300 KB.

You can also purchase a variety of multimedia files, such as ringtones, graphics, applications, multimedia contents, and so on from the WAP browser and download them to your phone’s memory. The phone has embedded links to the WAP sites providing you with download services, preset by your service provider.

There is no configurable option or settings on the phone to disable Push To Talk (PTT) button or use it for another function, because it is a default features of the phone and it deals with the plan from the service provider. However, you may check with your service provider which is AT&T if they can disable the connection of the PTT to their network systems. You may call up their Customer Care toll free number at 1-800-331-0500.

Thank you for your inquiry. This message appears when all signals are lost. While this is displayed you may only dial emergency numbers such as 911, Police, Fire Department or perhaps an ambulance. However, if this continues for a long period of time, this could indicate that the SIM card may be damaged.

To create speed dial numbers for address book contacts follow the steps below:

While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu
Select Address Book
Select Speed Dial List
Highlight, using the navigation keys, the unassigned speed dial number key to assign
Press left soft key for Options
Select Add
Select either Address Book (1) or FDN Contacts (2)
Highlight the desired contact, using the navigation keys
Press the left soft key for Select to assign the speed dial number to the contact, if prompted, highlight the phone number then press the left soft key for Select to assign the speed dial number to the contact
Tip: A shortcut method is to press and hold a number (other than 1) until you are told whether that number is assigned or unassigned as a Speed Dial number. If you press the left soft key for Yes, the Speed Dial Screen displays. You can then assign a contact to that number as a speed dial.

Note: Speed dial memory location 1 is reserved for your voice mail server number and cannot be changed

Thank you for your inquiry. The SD card for the phone is an external memory card where you can save you pictures, videos, and music so that the phone's. It's like a little black chip that can be inserted to the phone.
Currently we don't have available SD card that compatibles to the phone. However, you may contact your service provider which is AT&T and check with them if they selling "microSDHC card" and recommended storage size for the phone is 16GB. You may call up their Customer Care toll free number at 1-800-331-0500.

Are you referring using the Samsung Rugby™ ll Cell Phone (SGH-A847) for tethering to your computer?

Samsung does not offer a Data Kit software package, for the purpose of transferring data between the handset and a personal computer or for using the Samsung Rugby™ ll Cell Phone (SGH-A847) as a modem or for tethering with personal computer.

The phone also does not support Bluetooth Dial-up Network Profile which allows the handset to connect to the computer or laptop to use as a modem.

However, you may contact your network provider for the service and application you can use for your phone.

If you are referring transferring pictures saved on the computer to the SGH-A847 handset using USB data cable, please follow the procedures on the link below:

Thank you for your correspondence. You may change some settings on the phone to turn off the self shot short cut using the listed steps below.

You may attempt to take a self portrait, follow the steps below however:

1. While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu
2. Select My Stuff
3. Highlight Tools, using the navigation keys, then press the key
4. Select Camera to activate the Camera
5. Verify the Camera icon is shown on the top left corner of the display
- To switch to Camera mode press the left soft key for Menu
- Highlight Camera, using the up or down navigation keys
- Press the key for OK to switch to Camera mode
6. Press the left soft key for Menu
7. Highlight Timer , using the left or right soft keys
8. Highlight the desired Timer setting, using the up or down navigation keys, from the following:
- Off
- 3 Seconds
- 5 Seconds
- 10 Seconds
9. Press the key for OK to save the Timer setting
10. Using the display as a viewfinder, adjust the brightness, using the left and right navigation keys
11. Using the display as a viewfinder, zoom in or out, using the up and down navigation keys
12. Press the key to begin the Timer countdown
13. Rotate the handset to the back, to view the Camera lens
14. Using the Camera lens as a viewfinder, align the Camera
15. Wait until the Camera shutter sounds
16. Rotate the handset to the front to review the photo displayed
17. The self portrait is automatically saved (JPEG format) in the Pictures folder (Phone or Card)

To customize the My Menu quick function slots follow the steps below:

1. From the standby screen, press the left soft key for Options to open the My Menu list
2. Highlight any one of the locations, using the navigation keys
3. Press the left soft key for Options
4. Select either Assign or Change
5. Navigate to the desired destination, using the navigation keys
6. Press the left soft key to Assign the function to the My Menu quick function list
