Hi Mike1330,
Thank you for your inquiry.
The phone does not support DUN (Dial Up Networking) Profile that would allow you to use the phone as a modem for internet connectivity. Samsung does not offer a Data Kit software package for the purpose of transferring data between the handset and a personal computer or for using a Sprint handset as a modem for a personal computer.
However, you may still check with your service provider if they can offer you a software/program together with a data plan that would allow this functionality.

Hi, for you to zoom in/out on the picture just open the picture, press options, select zoom and press the up/down volume key to zoom in and out on the picture.

I find it kinda pointless to have to have the phone open to play music either through headphones or the external speaker. There has to be a function that allows the music player to stay active.

Hi there!
Thank you for your inquiry.
You may try doing the soft reset on the phone by taking out the battery for at least 10-15 seconds and then put the battery back in and evaluate it. This is for you to refresh the programming of the handset. If it's still not working and still doing the same thing, you may call the Samsung Customer Support Center, as they can help you troubleshoot this issue in a more timely manner than we could through this forum.

Nope, There are no other settings to allow a closed phone to play music, a Rugby II Cellphone is a considered a phone, not a MP3 Player. According too ATT and Samsung, it has to be in the open position to play music or watch videos.
Why won't my Rugby II let me transfer .mp3's for ringtones or into my music folder?
It says the file format is not accepted by my mobil phone

Hi CraigAdkins!
Thank you for your inquiry.
Regarding your concern, for you to transfer music between the Samsung Rugby™ ll Cell Phone (SGH-A847) and a computer, it would require you to have a compatible USB data cable, a microSD memory card inserted on the phone and download the Samsung New PC Studio for the SGH-A847 on your computer.
For you to download the Samsung New PC Studio on your computer:
1. Deactivate the antivirus and firewall on your computer. 2. Open the web browser and then log on to this link:
3. Click on the software tab and then download the compatible driver for the type of OS on your computer. 4. Save the driver on your desktop. 5. Once download is complete, double click on the EXE file and click on Run. 6. Follow the procedure to install it.
If the microSD memory card came from another phone and you could not saved any files on it. Try to format the microSD memory card using your phone so that the phone will recognize the microSD memory card inserted in it.
To format microSD memory card using the SGH-A847 handset: 1. Insert a microSD memory card into the memory card slot, located under the phone battery. 2. From the standby screen, press the right soft key for Menu. 3. Select My Stuff. 4. Highlight the On Card tab, using the left or right navigation keys. 5. Highlight Audio, Pictures, or Videos, using the navigation keys. 6. Press the left soft key for Options. 7. Select More. 8. Select Memory Card Settings. 9. Select Format. 10. Press the left soft key for Yes to confirm formatting the microSD Memory Card.
Note: This action will erase the SD card in the phone. You will lose all data on the card.
Connecting the phone to the computer: 1. Change the USB settings on the SGH-A847 handset: a. From the standby screen, press the left right key for Menu. b. Select Settings. c. Select Connectivity. d. Choose Select USB Mode. e. Highlight the PC Studio or Ask on Connection. f. Press the left soft key for Select to save the USB Setting. 2. Connect the USB data cable between the phone and a computer port, and if prompted, select PC Studio. 3. Open Samsung New PC Studio on your computer and wait until the model of the phone appear on the PC studio window. 4. Navigate the Samsung New PC Studio to find the information you want to transfer between the computer and the phone.
Note: Please make sure that Bluetooth is disabled and the phone is in idle mode.

For troubleshooting, you may try to set a different ringtone on the handset. It might be the type of tone you have chosen or the phone itself.
However, if you pertain to the tone that’s like ascending when your phone rings, then it is a default on the phone due to the fact that Samsung is avoiding acoustic shock to our valued customers.
Should you desire additional assistance for more troubleshooting steps, we invite you to call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357 between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

There is no software method to disable the PTT button. Carefully pry the button out of the phone, cut the tip off the protrusion on the back of the button, and reinstall the button. That protrusion presses the real switch in the phone, and once you remove it the button will no longer function. Just make sure you only do this if you never want that button to function in the future.
Handset sounds, such as audible message alerts and ringtones are all profile dependent. Profiles contain all the information associated with the volume settings and levels of the handset. This includes ringers, alarms, notifications, and system sounds. The profile message alert type & tone allows you to choose the alert type that sounds when receiving a new text messages, Multimedia messages, and Email. There are four different preloaded audio profiles that have the ability to be edited.
To edit profiles follow the steps below:
1.While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu 2.Select Settings 3.Select Sound Profiles 4.Highlight the profile to be edited, using the navigation keys, then press the key to Edit one of the following Profiles: Normal Silent Driving Outdoor

To initiate a voice command session follow the steps below:
1. From the home screen, press on Menu 2. Press My Stuff 3. Press Tools 4. Press Voice Recognition 5. Speak one of the following Voice Recognition “Say a Command” options to initiate a session:
◦Call (Name or #) ◦Send Message (Name or #) ◦Lookup (Name) ◦Go To (Menu) ◦Check (Item)
When it recognizes one of these commands, the handset launches the associated application. If Voice Recognition does not hear a command within approximately eight seconds, it deactivates voice recognition without taking any action.
Note: If a name has only a single number, or if you know the name but are not sure which number to call, say “Call” followed by the name only. For example, say “Call John.” If the name is recognized and there is only one number for the name, Voice Recognition immediately places the call. If there are multiple numbers stored for the contact, the phone prompts you with “Which Location?” and displays a list of options. Select an option by speaking it into the microphone or pressing the location.
