Ptt related. Ignore if you don't use push to talk. Also, if you want to disable the PTT dedicated button on the side of the phone, you can use my simple solution, which is to pry the button off with an exacto knife, remove the center post from the back, and reinstall. Its quick, easy, and the button will never work. Also, it is completely harmless, as the waterproofing of the phone actually begins beyond that rubber cover, so it effects nothing

Yes, a very simple way. Just put super glue around the button. You could always cut the glue out later if you wanted to activate the feature.

Yes there is! I just purchased the rugby, and I had the same issue. Simplest solution is to use an exacto knife to pry the button off, Then, use the knife to remove the small center post from the back of the button. Reinstall, and it will never work, and also doesn't affect your phones waterproofing.

Greetings,

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. There is no configurable option or settings on the phone to lock or disable PTT button, because it is a default features of the phone and it deals with the plan from the service provider. However, you may check with your service provider if they can disable the added services for PTT.

Thank you,

Don't know why they told you that!
But your Rugby II does support MP3, WAV, MIDI Formats, but your Ringtone Files cannot exceed 300K in size. Your MP3 Music can be stored on a MicroSD Memory Card at any size, not on Phone Memory, will not work. You can also transfer Mpeg and AVI Music Video's to the Rugby II phone, but you only can store and play them from a MicroSD Memory Card. I have a 32GB MicroSD Memory Card full of MP3's and Music Video's.

Hi markandsusan!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Your Samsung Rugby phone supports MP3 files as music files for the phone. However, if this is the case, I highly suggest try doing a soft reset by taking out the battery for at least 10-15 seconds and then put the battery back in and evaluate it. This is to refresh the programming of the handset. If it's still not working and still doing the same thing, you may call the Samsung Customer Support Center, as they can help you troubleshoot this issue in a timelier manner.

Yes, you will first need to contact ATT and add Tethering Data to your Plan, then you will need a USB Data Cable. Your Rugby II Phone is a Modem.

Hi Mike1330,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The phone does not support DUN (Dial Up Networking) Profile that would allow you to use the phone as a modem for internet connectivity. Samsung does not offer a Data Kit software package for the purpose of transferring data between the handset and a personal computer or for using a Sprint handset as a modem for a personal computer.

However, you may still check with your service provider if they can offer you a software/program together with a data plan that would allow this functionality.

There is no software method to disable the PTT button. Carefully pry the button out of the phone, cut the tip off the protrusion on the back of the button, and reinstall the button. That protrusion presses the real switch in the phone, and once you remove it the button will no longer function. Just make sure you only do this if you never want that button to function in the future.

Hi jtm5380!

Thank you for your inquiry.

A PUK (PIN Unlock Key) code is required to unlock SIM cards that have become locked following three successive incorrect PIN entries. If your SIM card becomes locked, you need to contact your service provider to get the PUK code to unlock it.

Hi stella703!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Are you referring assigning contact to the speed dial on the Samsung Rugby™ ll Cell Phone (SGH-A847)?

For you to assign speed dial entries for contacts, please follow the steps below:
1. While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu.
2. Select Address Book.
3. Select Speed Dial List.
4. Highlight, using the navigation keys, the unassigned speed dial number key to assign.
5. Press left soft key for Options.
6. Select Add.
7. Select either Address Book or FDN Contacts.
8. Highlight the desired contact, using the navigation keys.
9. Press the left soft key for Select to assign the speed dial number to the contact, if prompted, highlight the phone number then press the left soft key for Select to assign the speed dial number to the contact.

Tip: A shortcut method is to press and hold a number (other than 1) until you are told whether that number is assigned or unassigned as a Speed Dial number. If you press the left soft key for Yes, the Speed Dial Screen displays. You can then assign a contact to that number as a speed dial.

We thank you for your continued interest in Samsung products and look forward to your reply.
