There is NO Step 2 "PTT Settings" What gives? This easily pushed 'feature' needs to be disabled. This is NOT acceptable.

Greetings,

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. There is no configurable option or settings on the phone to lock or disable PTT button, because it is a default features of the phone and it deals with the plan from the service provider. However, you may check with your service provider if they can disable the added services for PTT.

Thank you,

Yes there is! I just purchased the rugby, and I had the same issue. Simplest solution is to use an exacto knife to pry the button off, Then, use the knife to remove the small center post from the back of the button. Reinstall, and it will never work, and also doesn't affect your phones waterproofing.

Yes, a very simple way. Just put super glue around the button. You could always cut the glue out later if you wanted to activate the feature.

There appears to be no software solution, but you can pry the button out of the phone and snip off the little protrusion that actually pushes against the real switch in the phone. Of course, this is a permanent method, and you would have to procure a new button if you decided at a later date to use PTT.

Here's how I did it... Pry the button off the outside of the phone. Be carefull! I used a small electronics screwdrive. Clip off the little pushrod on the backside of this button. Push the button back onto the case (rounded corners on the bottom). Now you can push that button forever and nothing happens! I accidently push this button all the time, what a nuisance! No problem now...

Hi markandsusan!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Your Samsung Rugby phone supports MP3 files as music files for the phone. However, if this is the case, I highly suggest try doing a soft reset by taking out the battery for at least 10-15 seconds and then put the battery back in and evaluate it. This is to refresh the programming of the handset. If it's still not working and still doing the same thing, you may call the Samsung Customer Support Center, as they can help you troubleshoot this issue in a timelier manner.

Don't know why they told you that!
But your Rugby II does support MP3, WAV, MIDI Formats, but your Ringtone Files cannot exceed 300K in size. Your MP3 Music can be stored on a MicroSD Memory Card at any size, not on Phone Memory, will not work. You can also transfer Mpeg and AVI Music Video's to the Rugby II phone, but you only can store and play them from a MicroSD Memory Card. I have a 32GB MicroSD Memory Card full of MP3's and Music Video's.
