Questions & Answers for samsung Samsung Rugby® Cell Phone

Question

Why is the front screen on my A837 upside down and I can't get the clock to show on it?

All that will show on my front screen is the at&t logo and it is upside down. I have went to the display settings many times to set the clock to show and it will not. Only when I turn the phone off then back on again it will show for a quick second and then back to the upside down logo.

Hi dcardilione!

Thank you for your inquiry.

There is no configurable option on the settings of the phone to disable the PTT functionality. The phone was originally designed for military use.

Note: You may coordinate with your service provider and have the PTT functionality activated and use it as a means of shortcut with regard to your contacts and making a call.

All Samsung products are manufactured to the specifications of the service provider for whom they are produced.

Here are the options that you can use in transferring pictures from computer to the phone.

•Via PC Studio 3
•Via Windows Explorer

Please Note: The SGH-A837 (Rugby) phone includes support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) which allows you to play or view some purchased or subscription content. These copyright protections may prevent some images, videos, music (including ringtones) and other content from being played, copied, modified, transferred or forwarded.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Via PC Studio 3

WARNING: DO NOT DISCONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE FILE TRANSFER

Note: If the Bluetooth feature is currently active on the phone, USB communication between devices will not be available. To transfer files to or from the phone, turn off the Bluetooth functionality.

To transfer Picture files, using PC Studio 3 & a USB cable, to a PC follow the steps below:

1.From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting is set to either PC Studio or Ask on Connection

To configure the handset's USB setting follow the steps below:

- From the standby screen, press the left right key for Menu
- Select Settings (9)
- Select Set Connectivity (7)
- Choose Select USB Mode (2)
- Highlight PC Studio
- Press the left soft key for Select to save the USB Setting

2.Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Headset jack/Adapter jack & the PC's USB slot
■When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top right of the display

3.If prompted, Select the PC Studio USB setting
4.Open the Samsung PC Studio 3 program on the PC
5.Click on Phone Explorer (Manage Files)

6.From the Phone Explorer screen, click on the Graphics folder
7.Click on the Photo file (For multiple files hold down the Ctrl key) then click on To PC
10.From the Browse for Folder screen, click on the destination location

11.Click OK to transfer the Photo file from the SGH-A837 (Rugby) phone to the PC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Via Windows Explorer (Mass Storage)

Note: If the Bluetooth feature is currently active on the phone, USB communication between devices will not be available. To transfer files to or from the phone, turn off the Bluetooth functionality.

Important: In order to transfer pictures (via Windows Explorer & a USB cable) to a PC the pictures MUST be located on a formatted microSD Memory Card. The microSD memory card must first be formatted, by the phone, in order for the phone to create the destination folders.

Note: The minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 8GB capacity memory card. However, for optimal performance Samsung recommends using a card no larger than 2GB.

WARNING: DO NOT DISCONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE FILE TRANSFER

To transfer Picture files, using Windows Explorer & a USB cable, to a PC follow the steps below:

1.From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting is set to either Mass Storage or Ask on Connection

To configure the handset's USB setting follow the steps below:

- From the standby screen, press the left right key for Menu
- Select Settings (9)
- Select Set Connectivity (7)
- Choose Select USB Mode (2)
- Highlight Mass Storage
- Press the left soft key for Select to save the USB Setting

2.Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Headset jack/Adapter jack & the PC's USB slot
■When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top right of the display

3.If prompted, Select the Mass Storage USB setting
4.Select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" on the new Removable Disk screen

5.Navigate to the picture location, inside the Graphics folder

6.Open Windows Explorer
7.Drag n Drop or copy & paste the picture to the desired destination on the PC

4. Save the driver on your desktop.
5. Once download is complete, double click on the EXE file and click on Run.
6. Follow the procedure to install it.

For you to connect the phone to your computer and transfer pictures, follow the procedures on this link below.
1. From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting is set to either PC Studio or Ask on Connection.

Menu > Settings > Select USB Mode > Ask on Connection or Mass Storage > Save

Hi jaysc,

Thank you for your inquiry.

There is no way that we can retrieve the pass code that was set on the phone. You may use the default pass code for the phone which is "0000" or "00000000". If the default pass code did not work then we can do a reset on the phone.

Should you desire additional assistance resolving this, we invite you to call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357 between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Thank you for your continued interest in Samsung products.

Hi jeff40!

Thank you for your inquiry.

There's no configurable option for you to disable the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on your Samsung Rugby II (SGH-A847). However, you may contact your service provider if they have an option to disable the data connection or the service for the PTT on your Samsung handset.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this presents.
