Thank you for your inquiry. There is no option to locate the original password of the phone; it will not show on the phone for security purposes of the user. However you know the original password of the phone, you can go to Menu > Settings > Set Phone > security > and select Change Phone Password

If your battery is full the Rugby will not turn on because of the red phone button on the right of your upper keypad is not being pressed long enough. When you press the red phone button on the right of your upper keypad, this turns the phone on and off. You have to hold it down sometimes for a few seconds to turn your mobile unit on. Or just flip the Rugby open again after briefly closing it when it does not turn on. Reopen it and once more press the red key to turn your mobile unit on.

Yes it can do that way of having vibrate and play a ringtone at the same time. You need to configure the settings of the profile of your handset for that. I have here the instruction for you to do.

To edit profiles follow the steps below:

1.While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu
2.Select Settings (9)
3.Select Set Sound Profiles (2)
4.Highlight the profile to be edited, using the navigation keys, then press the Center key to Edit one of the following Profiles:
***Normal
***Silent
***Driving
***Outdoor

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the Normal, Driving or Outdoor Profiles: (See Steps 1-4 above)

5.Highlight the Call tab, using the left or right navigation keys
-Highlight Call Alert Type, using the navigation keys, then press the key for Change

**Melody
**Increasing Melody
**Vibration then Melody
**Vibration & Melody
**Vibration & Increasing Melody

To raise the volume, just press the volume up key at the left side of the phone (facing it).

The phone might be experiencing an "audio receive" problem since you have raised the volume to its highest level. I would advise you to please contact Samsung Technical Support 1-888-987-4357 Direct Hotline for further assistance. Your phone needs to be Reset, however if problem still persist then you will be offered to send it to Samsung Service Center for an evaluation and repair. The phone has a one (1) year Free repair Warranty with Samsung as long as it does not have any physical and water damage, shipping to and from Samsung Service Center is Free as well. Further details will be explained on your call.

The SGH-A837 (Rugby) phone features four different methods to transfer pictures from the phone to a PC.

Via PC Studio 3
Via Windows Explorer
Via Memory Card
Via Bluetooth

Please Note: The SGH-A837 (Rugby) phone includes support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) which allows you to play or view some purchased or subscription content. These copyright protections may prevent some images, videos, music (including ringtones) and other content from being played, copied, modified, transferred or forwarded.

1. Via PC Studio 3

WARNING: DO NOT DISCONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE FILE TRANSFER

You can download the PC Studio 3 Software from www.samsung.com and make sure that you are using a Genuine Samsung USB cable with the Product ID: APCBS10UBE to avoid connectivity issues.

From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting is set to either PC Studio or Ask on Connection

From the standby screen, press the left right key for Menu
Select Settings (9)
Select Set Connectivity (7)
Choose Select USB Mode (2)
Highlight the PC Studio
Press the left soft key for Select to save the USB Setting

Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Headset jack/Adapter jack & the PC's USB slot
When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top right of the display

If prompted, Select the PC Studio USB setting
Open the Samsung PC Studio 3 program on the PC
Click on Phone Explorer (Manage Files)

From the Phone Explorer screen, click on the Graphics folder
Click on the Photo file (For multiple files hold down the Ctrl key) then click on To PC
From the Browse for Folder screen, click on the destination location

Click OK to transfer the Photo file from the SGH-A837 (Rugby) phone to the PC

2. Via Windows Explorer (Mass Storage)

Important: In order to transfer pictures (via Windows Explorer & a USB cable) to a PC the pictures MUST be located on a formatted microSD Memory Card. The microSD memory card must first be formatted, by the phone, in order for the phone to create the destination folders.

For instructions copying or moving pictures to a microSD memory card, click here.
Note: The minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 8GB capacity memory card. However, for optimal performance Samsung recommends using a card no larger than 2GB.

To transfer Picture files, using Windows Explorer & a USB cable, to a PC follow the steps below:

Select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" on the new Removable Disk screen

Navigate to the picture location, inside the Graphics folder

Open Windows Explorer
Drag n Drop or copy & paste the picture to the desired destination on the PC

3. Via Memory Card

The plug-in microSD memory card and its contents can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the card and keep all memory cards out of reach of children.

To transfer pictures (via a memory card) to a PC requires a microSD Memory Card, Memory Card Adaptor & Memory Card Reader. The microSD memory card MUST first be formatted, by the phone, in order for the phone to create the destination folders. Please note that the minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB.

Note: This phone will support the use of a microSDHC 8GB capacity memory card. However, for optimal performance Samsung recommends using a card no larger than 2GB.

Insert the formatted microSD memory card into the memory card slot, located under the battery
When correctly inserted, the memory card icon is displayed
From the standby screen, press the right soft key for Menu
Select My Stuff (7)
Highlight the On Phone tab, using the left or right navigation keys
Highlight the Graphics folder, using the navigation keys, then press the key to view the contents
Highlight the desired Photo, using the navigation keys
Press the left soft key for Options
Select either Move (6) or Copy (7)
Select either Selected (1) or Multiple (2)
For Multiple Images, highlight each Photo, using the navigation keys
Press the key to check each Photo’s box
Press the left soft key for either Move or Copy
Select Memory Card
Highlight the Graphics folder, using the navigation keys
Press the left soft key for Options
Select Open (1)
Press the left soft key for Options
Select Move Here (1) or Paste Here (1) to Move or Copy the Photos to the microSD memory card
Select Memory Card, using the navigation keys
Highlight the Graphics folder, using the navigation keys
Press the left soft key for Options

Select Move Here (1) or Paste Here (1) to Move or Copy the Photos to the microSD memory card
Remove the microSD memory card from the memory card slot
Insert the microSD memory card into the memory card adaptor
Insert the memory card adaptor into the memory card reader
Insert the memory card reader into the USB slot on the PC
Navigate to the Photo location, inside the Graphics folder, using Windows Explorer
Drag and drop or copy & paste the Photo(s) into the desired destination on the PC

4. Via Bluetooth

To transfer (via a Bluetooth adaptor) Photo files, from the Samsung SGH-A837 (Rugby) phone, to a PC follow the steps below:

On the Samsung SGH-A837 (Rugby) phone

While in standby mode, turn Bluetooth On
Change the phone’s Bluetooth visibility to On
On the PC

Connect the Bluetooth adaptor to the PC’s USB port
Search for Bluetooth devices
Select the device to pair with the PC
Exchange PIN code(s) on both the PC & phone to pair devices (default pass code is “0000”)
Using My Bluetooth Places, select File Transfer or OBEX to view the phone’s contents
Copy the desired Photo file
Paste the file in a PC destination
Note: For information or assistance related to configuration, specifications and instructions of the Non-Samsung device please contact the manufacturer of said device.

Hi, you can copy your contacts from your old phone to the sim card and then insert your sim card to your new phone. Please follow these steps on how to copy contacts:

1.While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu
2.Select Address Book (8)
3.Select Contacts (1)
4.Highlight the desired contact entry, stored in the handset's memory, using the navigation keys
5.Press the left soft key for Options
6.Select More (9)
7.Select SIM Management (4)
8.Select either Copy Contacts to SIM (1) or Copy Contacts from SIM (2)
9.Highlight each contact, using the navigation keys, press the ATT key to Check the box(es) or Check All

trying to sync my Rugby to my HP computer.

Computer is new with windows 7. Sales girl at ATT sold me USB cable for Samsung models A117,127,517,737. Not the A837 rugby. Don't think this is the problem however. Media player says it cann;t read the .FIL files on my handset

Try to sync Rugby to the computer Via Windows Explorer (Mass Storage) with use of USB cable.

Note: If the Bluetooth feature is currently active on the phone, USB communication between devices will not be available. To transfer files to or from the phone, turn off the Bluetooth functionality. In order to transfer pictures (via Windows Explorer & a USB cable) to a PC the pictures MUST be located on a formatted microSD Memory Card. The microSD memory card must first be formatted, by the phone, in order for the phone to create the destination folders.

There is no available option to disable or delete the PTT(Push To Talk) application on the phone.

This is part of the operating system of the phone in which we cannot alter or delete on the handset.

To get the correct model code for your Samsung sgh-a837 Rugby phone, you need to register first your phone also on the Samsung Website. The model code will automatically pops out once you have entered the IMEI number on the Serial Number Field. In that way you can download the PC Studio much easier.

Hi, please try this troubleshooting step to check if it’ll solve your concern.
To increase phone volume:
While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu
Select Settings (9)
Select Set Sound Profiles (2)
Highlight the profile to be edited, using the navigation keys, then press the key to Edit one of the following Profiles:
Normal
Silent
Driving
Outdoor
Highlight the Phone tab, using the left or right navigation keys
Highlight Phone Sound Volume, using the navigation keys, then press the AT&T world key for Change
Select the desired Phone Sound Volume setting, using the left or right navigation keys
Press the left soft key for Select to save the Phone Sound Volume setting.
Press the left soft key to Save the Normal, Driving or Outdoor Profile settings.

To transfer MP3 files, using the Mass Storage option, follow the steps below:

1.Navigate to the location of the MP3 file(s) then copy to the Windows clipboard
2.Plug the USB cable into both the phone & the PC
3.If the Select USB Mode box appears on the phone display, select Mass Storage
■If the Select USB Mode box doesn't appear, change the USB setting to Mass Storage

To configure the handset's USB setting follow the steps below:

1.From the standby screen, press the left right key for Menu
2.Select Settings (9)
3.Select Set Connectivity (7)
4.Choose Select USB Mode (2)
5.Highlight the desired USB Setting from the following:
◦Ask on Connection
◦Media Player
◦PC Studio
◦Mass Storage
6.Press the left soft key for Select to save the USB Setting

Note: If the Bluetooth feature is currently active on the handset, USB communication will not be available. To transfer files to your handset, turn off the Bluetooth functionality

■When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top right of the display
4.A new Removable Disk box will appear on the PC's monitor, prompting "What do you want Windows to do?"
5.Double click on "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer"
6.Paste the MP3 file(s) into the phone's Music or Tones folders, located within the Audio folder

WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE MP3 FILE TRANSFER

how do you recored a conversation while talking on the phone , and the other person on the phone doesnt know what your doing? this is very inportant.

the book doesnt explain step by step for people that doesnt understand as fast as others.
