Hi Ralphbal,

Thank you for your inquiry. We udnerstand that you're not receiving text messages and phone calls using your phone and we're sorry to hear that.

Since you already tried using a different phone's and switched sim card and it's still not working.

Please try to do a soft reset to check if it would work.
Soft Reset: Turn of the phone. Remove and put back the battery for at least 10-15 seconds.

Most issues may be resolved with minimal troubleshooting. Once troubleshooting has been done to the point of actual failure, we can setup a repair on the product, should it be determined the problem cannot be resolved over the phone. We can repair the phone, if it is still under warranty and has not been physically damaged.

If it is deemed, after troubleshooting, that the handset requires service/repair, our Repair Administrators will create a Return Material Authorization (RMA#) for the device. Provided there is no physical damage to the phone and the failure is not due to any type of damage, the phone will be repaired under warranty.
NOTE: A copy of the Proof of Purchase must also be included with the phone when sending it in for service.

If the phone has experienced damage or is out of warranty by date (it was purchased more than one year ago) the standard charge will likely apply for the repairs to your phone. Charges start at $70.36 and can increase, depending upon the nature and severity of the issue. We are only able to arrange payment for these repairs through credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

For troubleshooting and questions related to possible repairs we invite you to contact Samsung Customer Care at your earliest convenience through our toll free number 1-888-987-HELP (1-888-987-4357).

A Customer Service Representative will be able to assist you between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time. The defective product will need to be sent to our repair center and a Proof of Purchase is required. The Repair Administrator will assign an RMA # for the repair that will need to be written under our address on the outside of the package being sent. The phone will be tested and inspected for quality assurance while in our facilities. This will ensure the fact that your phone will be completely functional with all necessary repairs performed when the handset is shipped from our facilities.

Our repair facility will have the phone roughly 5-7 days from the time that it is received. Some dealer locations may offer a loaner phone program while your handset is in repair. While Samsung cannot control the availability of these products or programs in your area, please contact your local provider or dealer if you are in need of a phone, to find out if they are a participating member of this program. If you have any questions regarding this process, please ask the Service Representative at the time of your call.

Additionally, if your device is in warranty or you have insurance through your service provider, some providers do offer a replacement policy on phones which need servicing. In some cases, they may send out a replacement phone and the defective phone is sent back to them in return. For more details on a possible exchange, please contact your Service Provider.

Yes, the SGH-A887 (Solstice) handset provides the ability to playback MP3 files, assign them as a contact ringtone, alarm tone or as the incoming call ringtone. The music player supports the following audio file types: MP3, M4A, WMA, MP4 (AAC), 3GP (AMR), 3GP (AAC), WAV, RA (Real Audio) MIDI and AMR.

Note: Audio files less than 300 KB are treated as ringtones, whereas audio files which are greater than 300 KB are considered as Music. You cannot set an MP3 file as a ringtone if it is larger than 300 KB.

Please Note: The Music Player does not necessarily support all features of a particular file format nor all the variations of those formats. The Music Player includes support for Digital rights Management (DRM) which allows you to play some purchased or subscription content. Copyright protections may prevent some images, videos, music (including ringtones) and other content from being copied, modified, transferred or forwarded.

To assign an MP3 file as the call ringtone, caller ringtone or alarm tone follow the steps below:

From the standby screen, press Menu
Press My Stuff
Press Audio
Press either Tones or Music, to view the contents
Press the desired MP3 file to play it
Press Set as
Press one of the following:
Call Ringtone: To set the MP3 as the current profile's Ringtone
Caller Ringtone
Press Search Contact
Press the desired Contact
Press Save to assign the MP3 file as the Caller Ringtone
Alarm Tone
Press the desired Alarm
Presson Save to assign the MP3 file as the Alarm Tone

Hi shirleyshipers,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand your concern about not being able to send out picture message. We're sorry to hear this.

Multimedia message (MMS) size limits are determined by carrier. For example, if you send a larger message from your device, such as 1,000 KB, to another device with another carrier that has a limitation of 600 KB, your message may not appear as normal. Some limitations you may notice are:

• The ability to hear audio, but not see video
• The ability to see a picture, but not see or hear a video
• Receiving a message saying the file is too large
• Receiving a shortened video
• Not being able to receive the message
• Not being able to send out the message

For AT&T, they have 600 KB as the maximum size for the MMS.

Please check the size of the picture you are trying to send out and check who is the service provider of the person you're trying to send out the picture.

If the picture is below is less than the MMS limit, you can try to do a soft reset. Turn of the phone, remove and put the battery back after 1-2 minutes.

You may also use the link provided below for the steps on how to properly send out picture message on your Samsung phone.

Question

How can I change the save location for incoming text messages?

I can't figure out why the phone did this, but it's now saving all of my new incoming text messages to the SIM card. Unfortunately, while the phone can hold 500 messages, the SIM card can only hold 30, and the phone insists that I need to delete messages because it's out of room. However, my phone still has room for 300 more messages. Is there a way I can tell the phone to save messages on the phone, not on the SIM card? I can't find anything helpful in the menus.

Hi danmerqury,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand that you would like to know how to change the saved location for the incoming text messages on your phone.

Incoming text message for the Samsung Flight is automatically saved under phone's memory. There is no configurable option to change the incoming text message location on the phone. The option that you will have is to move text message manually from phone to sim card.

The allocated memory space for the text message on the phone is default. You may use the link provided below for the steps on how to check the available messaging memory on the phone.

Hi TonyaCouch,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand that your phone turns off when you're not using it and we're sorry to hear that.

If the phone screen dims or turns black and locks the phone, this is a power saving feature of the phone, simply press the lock key to turn it on again or activate the screen.

If the phone totally turns off while not in use, please check the list of options to possible resolve this.

Battery life durations specified on our products are tested in our labs under multiple different conditions and the talk and standby times are a realistic average maximum dependent on customer usage variables.

Battery power consumption depends on a number of factors, such as network configuration, signal strength, operating temperature, features selected, frequency of calls, and voice, data, and other
application usage patterns. Some variables that may affect battery life are:

• Backlight settings set to always on or a long amount of time.
• Ring tone settings set to higher volume settings.
• Vibrate settings turned on.
• Using Internet Services including Text Messaging.
• Making and/or Receiving calls in, or simply standing by in, analog service area.
• If you tend to be in a "weak" coverage area where your signal strength meter shows only 1 to 2 bars.
• Using non-SAMSUNG charging accessories can cause battery life and other issues, as well as void the manufacturer’s limited warranty.

Please check the information listed below for the charging time for your phone.

Initial charging time: 6-8 hours
Regular Charging time:2-4 hours

You may also drop by at your service provider's corporate store to try using a different battery or charger to check if it would work.
