Hi CFerendzo!

Thank you for your inquiry. Samsung has launched several initiatives in an effort to become an eco-friendly Company to “go green”. One such practice now in place is to eliminate the printing of hard copy User Manuals for our handsets. This is an ongoing project, and for this reason, we are no longer providing printed User Manuals upon request.

However, the user manual for your Samsung phone in PDF format is available for download from the Samsung Download Center. From the website, simply enter the model or portion of the model number or name into the product search field to take you to the user manuals available.

Should you have additional questions concerning a specific feature of your device, please contact us anytime, as we would be happy to provide additional information.

You can also contact our Customer Care Center by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Question

What do I do if the touchscreen on the Samsung Flight doesn't respond?

I can't get to the menu or tools to recalibrate the touchscreen. When I push the call button and the recent calls comes up and then I touch the screen anywhere it selects like I am touching the second call from the top. I can push anywhere on the screen and it does this. So it is registering that I am touching the screen, but it responds in only one area no matter where I touch it. What can I do??

Hi rhooper!

Thank you for your inquiry.

For you to connect the SGH-A797 handset to the computer to transfer pictures, it would require you to have the compatible USB data cable and the driver for the SGH-A797 handset, which is the Samsung New PC Studio.

For you to download the Samsung New PC Studio on your computer:
1. Deactivate the antivirus and firewall on your computer.
2. Open the web browser and then log on to this link:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportDownloadCenter.do?prd_ia_cd=N0000000&prd_mdl_cd=SGH-A797ZSAATT&prd_mdl_name=SGH-A797

3. Click on the software tab and then download the compatible driver for the type of OS on your computer.
4. Save the driver on your desktop.
5. Once download is complete, double click on the EXE file and click on Run.
6. Follow the procedure to install it.

For you to connect the phone to your computer and transfer pictures, follow the procedures on the steps below.

1. Insert a formatted microSD memory card into the memory card slot, located under the battery cover.
2. From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting is set to either PC Studio or Ask on Connection.

Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Select USB Mode > Samsung PC Studio > Save

3. Connect the USB cable to both the handset's Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC's USB slot. When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top of the display.
4. If prompted, select the PC Studio USB setting.
5. From the PC Studio media manager screen, click on the SGH-A797 icon, located in the top right corner.
6. From the phone explorer screen double click on the Picture folder (Internal Memory).
7. Click on the Photo file (For multiple files hold down the Ctrl key) to highlight.
8. Right click then click either Copy or Cut (Ctrl C or Ctrl X).
9. Click on the Pictures (Internal Memory) drop down arrow then click on Picture under External Memory.
10. Right click in the box then click Paste (Ctrl V) to copy the Photo file(s) from the SGH-A797 (Flight) handset to the Memory Card.
11. After the file transfer is completed it will be safe to remove the USB data cable from both the handset & PC.

Please charge the phone first - the standard charging time for SGH-A797 is up to 3 hours. Use it again after charging, however if it will not still turn on then I would recommend you to visit a nearby Service Provider store in your place to try another battery and charger on the phone. You need to know where the problem is coming from - it could be the battery, charger or the phone that is defective, you can ask an assistance to your Service Provider to isolate the issue. And after that, please contact Samsung Technical Support 1-888-987-4357 Direct Hotline. You will be offered to either send the phone to Samsung Service Center to have it evaluated and repaired or it could be an accessory replacement for the charger. The phone repair and accessory replacement is Free for as long as it is In Warranty and has no physical and water damage on it. Further details will be explained to you by the representative on the call.

Hi sheilaghill!

Thank you for your inquiry. I have here the information on how to transfer files between the phone and your personal computer. However, if you can't find the file on the phone after the transfer, you may try to transfer those files again and make sure of the location of the folder on the phone itself.

***Mass Storage***

Note: Using mass storage mode requires the use of a microSD memory card.

1. Ensure that a microSD memory card has been inserted into the memory card slot
2. From standby tap Menu
3. Tap Settings
4. Tap Phone Settings
5. Tap PC Connection
6. Tap USB Mass Storage to ensure that it is enabled and tap OK
7. Plug one end of the data cable into the handset and the other end into a USB slot on a PC or laptop

"PC Connection Mode" will be displayed on the handset. On the PC or laptop, A new Removable Disk will show in My Computer. In this new Removable Disk there will be three folders: My_Images, My_Music, and My_Videos. Content from the handset and be copied and pasted from these three folders to the PC, or supported content from a PC can be copied and pasted to these three folders for viewing on the handset.

Or the option to transfer files Via Bluetooth:

Note: Both devices must support the FTP (File Transfer Profile) in order to use ths method

**On the Samsung handset**

1. Turn Bluetooth On
2. Set the phone’s Bluetooth visibility to On

**On the phone with files**

3. While in standby mode, activate Bluetooth by turning it On.
4. Search for new Bluetooth devices.
5. Highlight the SGH-A797 phone name, using the navigation keys.

7. Browse for the desired file(s).
8. Transfer data from phone to phone

Greetings!
Handset sounds, such as audible message alerts and ringtones are all profile dependent. Profiles contain all the information associated with the volume settings and levels of the handset. This includes ringers, alarms, notifications, and system sounds. There are four different preloaded audio profiles that have the ability to be edited.
Note: Audio files less than 300 KB are treated as ringtones, whereas audio files which are greater than 300 KB are considered as Music. You cannot set an MP3 file as a ringtone if it is larger than 300 KB.
Tip: The music player supports the following audio file types: MP3, M4A, WMA, MP4 (AAC), 3GP (AMR), 3GP (AAC), WAV, RA (Real Audio) MIDI and AMR.
To edit a sound profiles please follow the steps below:
