Is there a way to tell if the update message is legitimate? Don't want to download a virus. Would it be an update to the operating system?

Question

Phone can reboot (restart) on its own 2 or 3 time everyday.

This is the second Evergreen phone we have owned, and both, on their own will reboot sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. This tells me there must be a problem with the software/firmware and something Samsung probably knows about. We like the phone features, but this has become very annoying. I have replaced the battery twice, and is always kept in a high state of charge. The water submerge patch is white. I'm about ready to throw this thing out and just buy an IPhone. AT&T network.. What can be done, if anything to correct this issue ?

I have had a similar problem with my phone, and I think I have found a solution. I had this phone for several months without any problems, until I tried to perform a software update. Immediately afterwards, my phone started to periodically reset itself, or sometimes shut down completely. This would happen every hour or so. Every time it would reboot, whether on its own, or due to me turning it off, it would display a message telling me the update could not be completed. I have come to believe that there is a problem with the software update, or the update process, that leaves the update unfinished, and the phone constantly thinks it has to reset to complete the update.
Try these steps:
1. back up all of your contacts, whether to the sim card, or whatever other storage device you have.
2. back up all of the pictures, texts, mms, ringtones, music, games that you may have installed since you purchased the phone, anything you don't want erased. If it came on the phone when you bought it, it won't be erased. You can save this stuff to a memory card of some sort. I sent all my pictures to my email via mms.
3. Go to Menu > Settings > Phone >Restore Phone. (Not reset phone, but RESTORE phone) You will be prompted for your password. If you never set a password, you will be asked to create one. THIS WILL RESTORE YOUR PHONE TO FACTORY SPECS AND SETTINGS! LIKE IT JUST CAME OUT OF THE BOX. YOU WILL LOSE ANY INFO YOU DON'T BACK UP!

Since doing this, I have not had the reset / update failed problem for more than 24 hrs, and it no longer gives me the "update failed" message when I reboot the phone. Hope this helps.

Question

Known random shutdown issues with SAMSUNG SGH-A667

We have 2 of these phones in our family experiencing the same problems. The biggest headache is the phone shutting off at random times including during phone calls. Other issues include keypad freezing up when answering a call and not being able to hear person after connecting. One phone was replaced under warranty with the same issues. The battery in that phone was even replaced by ATT store to help isolate problem. After spending hours on phone with Samsung support I thought I would try this to see if anyone has the same problem with the Evergreen.

Question

Model A667. Incoming Texts are of such small font they cannot be read. How do I enlarge?

Font for texts I enter are of normal font size. Outgoing texts are of normal font size. This just started in the last 2 days. Have had cell phone for less than a month.

Regarding your concern, there is no need to install any software on the computer for you to connect the handset with your PC. All you need to have is a memory card inside the handset and a data cable then set the phone to mass storage.

To connect the phone to the computer, please follow the steps below:
Pull out and up the memory card slot cover
Insert the formatted microSD card into the memory card slot
Connect the USB data cable to both the handset and the USB port on the PC
If Select USB Mode appears on the display press the clear key to return to the standby screen OR if the MTP Connect to the PC... appears on the display, press OK then with Yes highlighted press OK to disconnect from the PC
From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools
Select Tools
Select USB Mass Storage
From the PC, double click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop
Double click on the newly created drive letter (which may appear as an icon or text, depending on your View settings)
Double click on the folder to view the contents
Copy and paste or drag n drop the files to/from the destination on the PC
From the handset, press OK for Disconnect
With Yes highlighted, press OK then remove the USB data cable from both the handset and PC
