Samsung does not offer a Data Kit software package, for the purpose of transferring data between the handset and a personal computer or for using the SGH-A117 handset as a modem for a personal computer. Likewise, there are no accessories available to connect the SGH-A117 to a computer for the purposes of utilziing it as a modem.

Hi there!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Most issues like this may be resolved with minimal troubleshooting. Once troubleshooting has been done to the point of actual failure, we can setup a repair on the handset, should it be determined the problem cannot be resolved over the phone. We can repair the phone, if it is still under warranty and has not been physically damaged.

At your earliest convenience, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Our repair facility will have the phone roughly 5-10 days from the time that it is received. Some dealer locations may offer a loaner phone program while your handset is in repair. While Samsung cannot control the availability of these products or programs in your area, please contact your local provider or dealer if you are in need of a phone, to find out if they are a participating member of this program. If you have any questions regarding this process, please ask the Service Representative at the time of your call.

Additionally, if your device is in warranty or you have insurance through your service provider, some providers do offer a replacement policy on phones which need servicing. In some cases, they may send out a replacement phone and the phone that you are having issues with will be sent back to them in return. For more details on a possible exchange, please contact your Service Provider.

Hi bonzo15!

Thank you for your correspondence. If the phone is asking for PIN codes, you may have to contact your service provider which is AT&T to get the PIN code for the phone. You may call up their Customer Care toll free number at 1-800-331-0500.

However, after getting the PIN code from the service provider and doesn't work on the phone. You may call the Samsung Customer Support Center, as they can help you troubleshoot this issue in a more timely manner than we could through this forum. You can call our toll free number at 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Hello robert87,

If you're pertaining on how you can find your own cell phone number or contact number, you can go to Menu>Settings>Applications Settings>Address Book Setting>Own Number. There you can see the mobile number of yours. However, if you intend to look for a serial number of your handset as the IMEI number of your phone, you can just dial *#06# while you're on the standby screen of your handset. Or you can look for that at the back part of your phone underneath the battery.

Hi Gene1156!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Would you like to unlock the phone so that you can use it for another service provider? When you turn on the phone is it saying "Phone Lock?

Should you wish to use the phone for another service provider, we cannot assist in unlocking the phone. We hold a proprietary licensing agreement with your Service Provider and it would be in violation of this agreement to assist in unlocking the phone.

Your Service Provider has these codes and should be able to provide support for this.

On the other hand, if the phone is locked and asking for a pass code, you try the default pass codes "0000" or "00000000"

If this does not work, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Hi lukev!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Are you having a phone lock message or you would like to unlock your phone for adifferent network?

Unlocking the phone to use it for a different network requires permission from your current service provider as We hold a proprietary licensing agreement with them.

Contact your current service provider for assistance on how to unlock it using the unlock code they will provide. If the phone has a "Phone lock" and it's asking for a passcode, use the last 4 digits of your phone number as a default passcode.

If you are having "PIN LOCK" or "PUK LOCK", it's a lock on the simcard and you can ask for assistance with your service provider to help you with the PUK or PIN CODE to unlock it.

If the phone has a "Phone lock" and it's asking for a passcode, use "0000” or “00000000” as a default passcode.

For further assistance, please contact our Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Hi there.

The Message icon displays when you receive a new text message and the Multimedia icon displays when you receive a new multimedia message. When the memory is full, an error message displays and you cannot receive any new messages. Use the Delete option in each message box to delete obsolete messages.

You can use the following steps to view messages in your Inbox:

1. In Idle mode, press Menu, select Messaging and press the Select soft key.
2. Highlight Inbox and press the Select soft key. The message list opens. The icons on the left indicates the message status.
3. Select a message on the list. The message content displays.
4. Press the Up or Down navigation key to scroll through the message screen.
