Problem with scanning on Windows 7

I recently got a new desktop with windows 7. I lost the original print software, but on this website installed the printer software, the scan software, smarthru 4, and even smart panel, all for windows 7. My smarthru 4 works however when I click scan it starts the process of scanning, like my SCX-4725fn says connecting to printer, says on the desktop 2% scan. However it always stops (when i click on any option folder, email, image..._) and says 'error during scan' 'cannot open devices SXC-4725FN' Then when i try again it again does not work and then says there is a Hardware I/O error. all the other options on smarthru 4 work such as copy or print. Also when i take the printer usb and plug it into my laptop running vista (with all the same software) smarthru 4 scanning works.

Please help

Also I have already tried uninstalling, reinstalling, shutting down, rebooting, different USB Ports....

We would also recommend you try not to do anything while the scan is running. Most scans take anywhere between 10-30 seconds. Let it complete before you click anywhere else to see how things go.

We're sorry to hear you're encountering this issue. Most modern-day printers require that you install a driver before you connect the device for complete operation. Also, this device requires three separate drivers for use. There's a printer driver, a scanner driver and a Smart Panel driver, so make sure you have installed them all before first use. All drivers can be downloaded from the product support page below (look under Manuals & Downloads > Driver).

If you've used the scanner without issue before and are now encountering this issue when attempting to scan to a folder, it's possible that your Windows firewall or a third-party firewall (a feature often included with antivirus software) could be blocking the communication. We recommend temporarily disabling the firewall to see if this resolves the issue.

You might also use the Hardware & Devices Troubleshooter that is built into Windows. Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter and then click Troubleshooting. Under Hardware and Sound, click Configure a device.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Then work through the prompts.

If the issue persists beyond our suggested steps, we recommend you call 1-800-SAMSUNG to talk with a trained agent who can better assist you with this issue.

My display will not hold date and time. Why?

When I restart my printer I have to reinstall the date and time. Is there an internal battery that needs replacing?

i have the scx-4725fn which is shared on both desktops.
i have smart thru installed. why can't i share the scanning also?

error: install toner with new toner

I've tried to install a new SCX-4521D3 toner cartridge and I get "install toner" error. The firm I work for has an identical printer and I tried the cartridge at work and didn't get the message. Paper is always getting jammed in my printer.
