Question

How can I turn off the front cover keypad on the Convoy 2?

I keep hitting the unlock button in my pocket and text people by accident. Is there a way to eliminate the unlock option from the front cover keypad?

This is a flaw in the design of this model. I deleted all the "quick text" phrases from the "quick text" bank on mine to keep my phone from randomly texting(you can't reply to messages from the front panel with anything except a "quick text").

If it's Verizon, go to Message > Settings > 9. Quick Text
Just delete them all from that list.

It's annoying. There isn't any way to set the phone up to unlock with a key that isn't on the front of the phone...the key that is most easily pressed in a pocket or purse...

There is a way to disable all the exterior buttons on the Convoy2. You must go and lock the phone under security mode. This will disable ALL front buttons. I agree this feature should be looked at by the programmers. In the Settings/Phone Settings/External Keys if you place the selection to always off, why do they work. This was the first item that I disliked when I activated the phone. TimmyT

Hello-

Thank you for the inquiry. Choose a time period for the external keys to remain active after
you close the phone, after which the external keys will lock to
prevent accidental key presses. Copy and paste this link into your browser for instructions. http://bit.ly/o2pDrM

Question

How do I prevent phone from accidental texting (from outside buttons being pushed while in my pocket)???

I do not wish to turn off text feature with security code BUT, I want to stop the phone from sending texts because of accidental pressing of outside buttons while the phone is in my backpack or pocket. It sends an auto text to the last person I texted, such as "in a meeting" and I can't find a way to turn that off.

I have solved this problem.
Using a small exacto knife slide the blade up under the front button plate. Carefully pry away from the phone. The three buttons will pop off as one piece. Under the buttons you will see three silver buttons surrounded by white plastic. Again with the small exacto dig at the corner of the white plastic. When you get it up enough use tweezers to remove the white plastic, the silver buttons will come with. Throw that away. Replace the three button faceplate by working the top edge in first then pressing firmly until it clicks into place.
Perfect! My Convoy 2 is now on the mode I call "Perma-Lock" and I seriously am much happier with the phone.
Good luck!

Unfortunately, this is basically impossible. The only options are using the security code, turning the phone off, or carrying it in something that prevents the buttons from being pressed.

I keep sending erroneous " quick text" messages with my new phone.

For some reason I keep sending quick text messages from my Convoy2 phone. I have looked in the user manual and have checked all my settings and I can't figure out why this is happening. It seems to be happening when I'm taking the phone from my holder but not sure. It will usually send 4 or 5 quick text at a time. Please help. I'm about to take the phone back.

Question

I recently got a new Verizon Samsung Convoy 2 and I am having a problem with how to keep the lock button activated?

I carry my Convoy 2 in my front pant pocket and the problem I am having is that the phone's 'lock' button is getting 'unlocked' without me knowing it. From the instructions, it looks like the front button does both lock and unlock which makes no sense to me that you can unlock the phone from the front so easily. This is causing the phone to send text messages to people without my knowledge which is getting on my friends nerves! Is there any way to keep the front button from unlocking the phone? It would seem to make more sense that the phone would remain locked unless unlocked from inside the phone.

Basically, I am asking if there is a way for the phone not to be unlocked using the front button.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The only available software is Backup Assistant, which is web-based, not a stand-alone application. All it will do is sync your contacts.

Hi Cellphonesoftware,

Thanks for your question!

A driver or software download isn't necessary to since the SCH-U660 (Convoy) handset with a computer. Instead, you can use the Mass Storage method by using a compatible data cable and a formatted memory card inserted on the device. If you wish to continue, follow the steps below.

Please Note: The minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.

Steps on how to format a microSD memory card using the phone:

1. From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
2. Highlight Settings & Tools (9)
3. Select Memory (8)
4. Select Card Memory (3)
5. Press the right soft key for Options
6. Select Format Card (1)
7. Highlight Yes, using the navigation keys
8. Press OK to confirm formatting the microSD memory card

Tip: The memory card must be formatted by the phone to create the necessary folders.

STEPS:

1. Insert a formatted memory card into the memory card slot
2. From the standby screen, press the OK key for Menu
3. Select Settings & Tools (9)
4. Select Tools (2)
5. Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC's USB slot
6. Select USB Mass Storage (8)
7. When successfully connected, the phone will show Connected to the PC... and Call Disabled on the display
8. If prompted, click "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" on the new Removable Disk screen or open Windows Explorer manually
9. Navigate to the location of the files on the PC
10. Drag n Drop or copy & paste the file(s) into into the phone's My_Pix or My-Flix folder.

WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE FILE TRANSFER
