Creating a new Contact from the Home screen

1. From the home screen, press Ok button for MENU ➔ Number 1 for Contacts.
2. Press 1 for New Contact.
3. Enter a name for the entry using the keypad.
4. Press the Directional key up or down to highlight the appropriate type (Mobile 1, Home, Work, Email 1, etc.). Once highlighted, use the keypad to enter required information.
5. Press the Directional key up or down to highlight other type fields, if desired. Enter information using the keypad.
6. To assign a Speed Dial location after entering the number, press right soft key for Options. Highlight Set Speed Dial and press OK buuton
7. Highlight an unassigned location and press OK button for SET. A confirmation message appears in the display, Yes is highlighted, press Ok button to add the Contact to the speed dial location.

There is no configurable option on the phone that you can set the contacts by last name first.

You can edit each contact names and enter the last name first on the contact name field so that last name will appear first.

2.Highlight the Contact to delete, using the navigational keys
3.Press the right soft key for Options
4.Select Erase (2)
5.Highlight Yes, using the navigation keys
6.Press OK to confirm the Contact deletion

MP3 ringtones are limited to those downloaded from the Verizon Media Store. Although the handset offers the ability to playback MP3 files, synchronized to the memory card or phone, there are no configurable options available to assign those MP3 files as ringtones.

Please try to update the driver in your computer by trying to launch the run command and type in devmgmt.msc. Click on OK until it launches your Device Manager. Look for any marked items under USB Controllers then right click your mouse until you get the option to update driver.

If the the SCH-U640 is not listed for the Carkit that you have then you will be unable to pair it or you will be having a connectivity problem.

Phone's Bluetooth Capability for Hands-free devices depends on the model and type of software of the carkit or hands-free device.

We do not have any available software for the SCH-U640 that will allow you to transfer pictures from the phone to the computer.

1. Via Mass Storage

The handset's mass storage feature allows the transfer of Pictures and Video files directly from a PC to the microSD memory card, inserted in the phone. In order to use this option, the microSD memory card must be formatted by the phone to create the necessary folders.

Please Note: The minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.

WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE FILE TRANSFER

To transfer files, using the Mass Storage option, follow the steps below:

Insert a formatted memory card into the memory card slot

From the standby screen, press the OK key for Menu

However, if you want to assign a ringtone to a contact follow the steps below:

1. While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Contacts
2. Highlight the contact entry, using the navigation keys
3. the left soft key for Edit
4. Highlight Ringtone (Default), using the navigation keys
5. Press the left soft key for Set
6. Highlight the desired Ringtone, using the navigation keys, or select Get New Ringtones, to download new ringtones from Verizon
7. Press OK to set the Contact Ringtone
8. Press OK again to Save the Contact settings
