How do I upload a picture from my Convoy phone to my PC?

Thank you for your inquiry.

Apparently, Samsung does not offer a Data Kit package for transferring information between the Samsung Convoy™ Cell Phone (SCH-U640) and a computer.

If you are going to transfer media files, you may do mass storage so you could transfer them to the computer. For you to connect the phone to the computer, it would require you to have the memory card inside the phone and a compatible USB data cable, once you already have the requirements, and then do the following:

If the microSD memory card came from another phone and you could not saved any files on it. Try to format the microSD memory card using your phone so that the phone will recognize the microSD memory card inserted in it.

To format a microSD memory card follow the steps below:
1. From the standby screen, press OK for Menu.
2. Highlight Settings & Tools.
3. Select Memory.
4. Select Card Memory.
5. Press the right soft key for Options.
6. Select Format Card.
7. Highlight Yes, using the navigation keys.
8. Press OK to confirm formatting the microSD memory card.

Note: Formatting the microSD memory card will delete all information saved on your memory card. I will suggest backing up first your files saved on the microSD memory card.

To transfer files, using the Mass Storage option, follow the steps below:
1. Insert a formatted memory card into the memory card slot.
2. From the standby screen, press the OK key for Menu.
3. Select Settings & Tools.
4. Select Tools.
5. Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC's USB slot.
6. Select USB Mass Storage.
7. When successfully connected, the phone will show Connected to the PC... and Call Disabled on the display.
8. If prompted, click "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" on the new Removable Disk screen or open Windows Explorer manually.
9. Navigate to the location of the files on the PC.
10. Drag n Drop or copy & paste the file(s) into the phone's My_Pix or My-Flix folder.

Bluetooth Connection

I am having a problem connecting my phone to my Ford Sync bluetooth. The connection fails because of the passcode, but I cannot figure out how to enter the pass code on the phone. The instructions in the manual are no help.

To pair the SCH-U640 (Convoy) handset with a Bluetooth Device follow the steps below:

Place the Bluetooth device in discoverable mode
While in standby mode, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools
Select Bluetooth Menu
Press the left soft key for Turn On
Highlight Add New Device, using the navigation keys, then press OK
Press OK at the “Place device to connect to in discoverable mode” prompt to begin search for new device
Highlight the discovered Bluetooth device, using the navigation keys, and press OK to Pair the devices
Press OK, you will get a brief message stating pairing with the Bluetooth Device Name.
Select Yes, using the navigation keys, at the “Connect to (Bluetooth Device Name)?” prompt
You will get a brief message stating connecting with the Bluetooth Device
After being successfully connected you will return to the "Bluetooth Menu" screen

Note: When successfully paired, the Bluetooth connected iconwill appear on the top line of the LCD

NOTE:

We recommend you to call the car kit manufacturer if it is compatible with the device as they have the list of compatible phones with their device.

1. While in standby mode, press the Camera/Camcorder button.
2. Press the right soft key for Options.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select Sound Effect.
5. Highlight Start Sound, and then select the desired setting, using the navigation keys.
6. Highlight End Sound, and then select the desired setting, using the navigation keys.
7. Press OK to save the camera's Sound Effects.

In Phone Lock mode, you can answer calls, but the phone must be unlocked to place outgoing calls (except to emergency numbers). The phone locks automatically the next time it is powered on, if enabled, and stays locked until you enter the correct lock code.

To enable or disable the Phone Lock follow the steps below.

1. From the standby screen, press OK for Menu.
2. Select Settings & Tools (9).
3. Select Phone Settings (6).
4. Select Security (7).
5. Enter the code then press OK (Default is last 4 digits of your cell phone number).
6. Select Phone Lock Setting (3).
7. Highlight either Unlocked (If on Power Up was previously selected, selecting Unlocked will remove lock on power up.) or On Power Up (The Phone Lock Code is required whenever you power up the phone.) then press OK.
8. Select Lock Phone Now (4) to immediately Lock the Phone.

Regarding your concern, we recommend checking the address book on the Samsung Convoy™ Cell Phone (SCH-U640) and check if the area code is included on your contacts. We also recommend checking if these contacts are duplicated. Duplicated contacts on the address book will cause the caller ID to not appear.

Should this troubleshooting steps did not work, we recommend contacting your service provider and coordinate with them to check the settings of the phone for voice call service.

Question

Why cant I sync music w/my pc anymore?

I was able to do it once. Now all I recieve is a message on my phone reading connect failure and telling me to check my cable connection to my pc! It is the same cable and usb port as the first time I Synced my phone and pc,which was successful I might add. the phone is charging so I dont think its the cable....what am I doing wrong here?

Please try doing a soft reset by turning off the phone, then remove the battery and put it back in and power on the phone again. You may also try to insert the cable on a different port available on the computer.

I have connected my Samsung SCH-U640EKAVZW cell phone to my HP laptop and the Vista operating system successfully downloaded and installed the necessary drivers. Via Mass Storage

The handset's mass storage feature allows the transfer of Pictures and Video files directly from a PC to the microSD memory card, inserted in the phone. In order to use this option, the microSD memory card must be formatted by the phone to create the necessary folders.

Warning: Formatting a memory card will permanently delete all current content.

To format a microSD memory card follow the steps below:

1. From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
2. Highlight Settings & Tools (9)
3. Select Memory (8)
4. Select Card Memory (3)
5. Press the right soft key for Options
6. Select Format Card (1)
7. Highlight Yes, using the navigation keys
8. Press OK to confirm formatting the microSD memory card.

Please Note: The minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.

WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE FILE TRANSFER

Question

MY cell phone cuts off by itself. This is the second phone, what can I do to prevent this?

The phone wil also go on speaker phone without me touching it. I am guessing I press a button when I move and it is in the belt pouch. How can I prevent this from happening?

HOME AND AUTO CHARGER COMPATABILITY WITH MT OLD SAMSUNG Alias 2

My previous phone was an Alias 2. It seems from looking on line that at least my old car chargers are compatible with my new Convoy, and perhaps the home charges also. Upon checking the specifications and settings on the Samsung Convoy™ Cell Phone (SCH-U640), to set the voice call volume, press the volume keys to adjust the level.

Regarding your concern about adjusting the voice call every time you received incoming calls even if you already adjust the volume level, we recommend having a soft reset on the device. Soft reset is removing the battery for about a minute on your phone and putting it back just for you to refresh the settings on the handset.

Yes, there's a speed dial feature on your Samsung Convoy. To enable or disable the one touch dial feature follow the steps below:

1. While in standby mode, press the OK button for Menu
2. Select Settings & Tools (9)
3. Select Call Settings (7)
4. Select One Touch Dial (4)
5. Highlight either On or Off, using the navigation keys
6. Press the OK button to save the One Touch Dial setting

And to create a speed dial number for an existing Contact follow the steps below:

1. While in standby mode, press the OK button for Menu
2. Select Contacts (1)
3. Select Speed Dials (5)
4. Highlight the speed dial number key(s) to assign to a Contact phone number, using the 5. navigation keys
5. Press the OK button for Set
6. Highlight the Contact to assign to the speed dial number key(s), using the navigation keys
7. Press the OK button to assign the speed dial number key(s) to the Contact’s phone number
8. If the Contact has multiple numbers, highlight the phone number to assign to the speed dial number key(s), using the navigation keys, then press the OK button

Is there anyway to set whisper mode to on all the time?

I tend to be a quiet talker and have been having a lot of people say that I fade in and out pretty bad when talking to me. Is there anyway to enable the whisper mode so it is on all the time? I don't want to have to go thru the settings and such to turn it on every time I make/receive a call. Thanks.

There are no configurable option on the settings of the Samsung Convoy, to enable the whisper mode automatically. You can only use this function when you are making a call.
