Hello and thanks for reaching out!

Unfortunately, I do not see a configurable option to do this. When the Inbox exceeds 500 text messages, the first message in the list is replaced with the next incoming message. Picture messages are replaced when the phone’s maximum memory is reached. For more info: on page 65 http://bit.ly/LXXNBy.

Question

Tranfer ringtones from pc to ringtones on SCH-U640 Convoy

Can you tell me how to move ringtones from my pc to the ringtones on my cell phone? I noticed when I try it with the data cable transfer, the phone automatically syncs to vcast Rhapsody with the only options showing MY MUSIC, SONGS on my pc. I don't get to see anything else as far as MUSIC & TONES, My Ringtones from my pc to transfer ringtones to the phone. My old phone had a pc suite software program where I could see the whole file directory of the phone. I know how to transfer the mp3 musicvia data transfer and mass storage, but I am asking for some help on transferring only ringtones from my pc to my phone. If there is a way to do this I would greatly appreciate your help on the steps I need to take. (ringtones from pc to ringtones on phone.) If there is a program or suite out there to accomplish this, that info would be appreciated also. Thank you, Mick

Hi Mick,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand that you would like to transfer ringtones from your PC to your Samsung Convoy.

Transferring ringtones from PC to phone is also the same as transferring MP3 files. Once you transferred your ringtones to your mass storage, go to the phone and move the ringtones under your mass storage to the ringtone folder saved on your phone's memory.

You may also use the link provided below for option on how to transfer music files on your Samsung phone.

Note: Please copy and paste the entire link on the address bar of your search engine.

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00027139&fm_seq=27307

Ringtones by default are saved under the phone's memory.

If this won't work, please get back with us with the format and size of the ringtones you're trying to transfer to your Samsung Convoy.

Most issues may be resolved with minimal troubleshooting.Once troubleshooting has been done to the point of actual failure, we can setup a repair on the product, should it be determined the problem cannot be resolved over the phone. We can repair the phone, if it is still under warranty and has not been physically damaged.

IN WARRANTY REPAIR:

If it is deemed, after troubleshooting, that the handset requires service/repair, our Repair Administrators will create a Return Material Authorization (RMA#) for the device. Provided there is no physical damage to the phone and the failure is not due to any type of liquid damage, the phone will be repaired under warranty.

NOTE: A copy of the Proof of Purchase must also be included with the phone when sending it in for service.

OUT OF WARRANTY REPAIR:

For information on what is and is not covered by The Standard Limited Warranty, we invite you to go to http://www.samsung.com/us/support/repairpolicy/servicePolicyWarrantyMain.do and view a full version of the warranty the covers all Samsung phones and accessories.

If the phone has experienced damage or is out of warranty by date (it was purchased more than one year ago) the standard charge will likely apply for the repairs to your phone. Charges start at $65.00 and can increase, depending upon the nature and severity of the issue. We are only able to arrange payment for these repairs through credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

LIQUID OR MOISTURE DAMAGE:

Due to Samsung's policy with repairs, any damage encountered to the phone through water or other liquids can and in most cases will cause corrosion to the inner workings of the handset. In these circumstances, it is no longer feasible to attempt to repair the phone; consequently, the phones received in this condition into our North Texas repair facilities are shipped back to the customer un-repaired. If you have insurance through your service provider please contact them for a possible replacement phone. Also, if you purchased the phone with a credit card most companies offer buyers protection. Contact your Credit Card Company to inquire about this program.

CONTACTING SAMSUNG CUSTOMER CARE TO ARRANGE FOR REPAIR:

For troubleshooting and questions related to possible repairs we invite you to contact Samsung Customer Care at your earliest convenience through our toll free number 1-888-987-HELP (1-888-987-4357).

A Customer Service Representative will be able to assist you between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time. The defective product will need to be sent to our repair center and a Proof of Purchase is required. The Repair Administrator will assign an RMA # for the repair that will need to be written under our address on the outside of the package being sent. The phone will be tested and inspected for quality assurance while in our facilities. This will ensure the fact that your phone will be completely functional with all necessary repairs performed when the handset is shipped from our facilities.

NOTE: A copy of the Proof of Purchase must also be included with the phone when sending it in for service.

Our repair facility will have the phone roughly 5-10 days from the time that it is received. Some dealer locations may offer a loaner phone program while your handset is in repair. While Samsung cannot control the availability of these products or programs in your area, please contact your local provider or dealer if you are in need of a phone, to find out if they are a participating member of this program. If you have any questions regarding this process, please ask the Service Representative at the time of your call.

Additionally, if your device is in warranty or you have insurance through your service provider, some providers do offer a replacement policy on phones which need servicing. In some cases, they may send out a replacement phone and the defective phone is sent back to them in return. For more details on a possible exchange, please contact your Service Provider.

Question

How can I play my own MP3 on my Convoy?

I am a musician. I write and record original music. I own the copyright. I am able to covert my finished pieces to MP3 format. I can email them, save them onto CDs and have them downloadable from my website. I have purchased a 16 GB micro SD memory card for my Samsung SCH-U640. I can move MP3s onto the card from my PC and from the card to the phone. I see them on the phone but they will not play. Why won't the Samsung SCH-U640 play them? These same MP3 files play without problem on a myriad of other devices. What am I doing wrong? How can I play these MP3s on my Samsung SCH-U640?

Hi Spindizzy,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand that music files saved on the 16GB microSD card inserted on your phone are not playing and we're sorry to hear that.

You're phone doesn't support 16GB microSD card or higher capacity.

Please try to do a soft reset or use lower to check if it would work.

Soft Reset: Turn of the phone. Remove and put back the battery and microSD card for at least 10-15 seconds.

Hi Dawniesue,

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand that you would like to change the number of rings before call goes to voicemail on your phone, SCH-U640.

Configuring the number of rings before a call goes to voicemail is something which is configured by the Service Provider by editing your account with them. This is not a setting which can be configured on the phone itself as it is part of the network services by your provider. To adjust the Ring Count, we recommend contacting the Service Provider for assistance with this issue.

NOTE:  Using Vib+Melody will decrease the number of audible ringtones due to design, as it will Vibrate first then Ring.

You may reach Verizon at 1-800-922-0204 for further assistance.

We do not have any available software for the SCH-U640.

You may contact your service provider regarding the software that you can use in transferring pictures from the phone to the computer.

You can use the Mass Storage capability of the phone in transferring pictures from the phone to the computer or vise versa.

In using Mass Storage, a formatted memory card should be inserted on the phone.

To transfer files, using the Mass Storage option, follow the steps below:

WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE FILE TRANSFER

Please Note: The minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.

1.Insert a formatted memory card into the memory card slot

2.From the standby screen, press the OK key for Menu
3.Select Settings & Tools (9)
4.Select Tools (2)
5.Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC's USB slot
6.Select USB Mass Storage (8)
7.When successfully connected, the phone will show Connected to the PC... and Call Disabled on the display
8.If prompted, click "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" on the new Removable Disk screen or open Windows Explorer manually

9.Navigate to the location of the files on the PC
10.Drag n Drop or copy & paste the file(s) into into the phone's My_Pix or My-Flix folder.

Thank you for your inquiry. If you’re referring to Voice Command here are the following information on how to set it on the phone:
Note: Voice Command recognizes the digits one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and zero or oh. The handset does not recognize numbers such as “one eight hundred” for “1-800.” Instead, say “one-eight-zero-zero.”
To initiate a Voice Command session follow the steps below:
1.From the standby screen, press and Hold the VOICE COMMAND KEY , located on the upper right side, until the following “Please say a Command” menu appears:
oCall (Name or #)
oSend (Msg Type)
oGo To (Menu)
oCheck (Item)
oContacts (Name)
oSearch
oRedial
oPlay (Playlist)
oMy Verizon
oHelp
2.Speak one of the Voice Command options above to initiate a session
When it recognizes one of these commands, the SCH-U460 (Intensity II) handset launches the associated application. If the phone does not hear a command within approximately eight seconds, it deactivates voice recognition without taking any action.

Note: If a name has only a single number, or if you know the name but are not sure which number to call, say “Call” followed by the name only. For example, say “Call John.” If the name is recognized and there is only one number for the name, Voice Command immediately places the call after confirmation. If there are multiple numbers stored for the contact, the handset prompts you with “Which Location?” and displays a list of options. Select an option by speaking it into the handset's microphone.

It was a pleasure doing business with you.
Sincerely,
Technical Support
