Question

Adding my own ringtones.

Convoy SCH-U640, I have uploaded a ringtone to the SD cards' My Ringtones folder, now how do I assign it to a contact? The only ringtone options I can see are the default ringtones.

Thank you for your correspondence.

Is the ringtone you downloaded on the phone in MP3 format? Did you download this file from your service provider?

MP3 ringtones are limited to those downloaded from the Verizon Media Store. Although the handset offers the ability to playback MP3 files, synchronized to the memory card or phone, there are no configurable options available to assign those MP3 files as ringtones.

For further assistance with downloaded MP3 files contact your service provider.

Hi SCBear,

Thank you for your inquiry. The Samsung Intensity II handset features three different methods to transfer pictures from the handset to a computer. You may use any of the methods below if you wish to transfer pictures.

Via Memory Card

Important!: The plug-in microSD memory card and its contents can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the card and keep all memory cards out of reach of children.

Please Note: The SCH-U460 (Intensity II) handset includes support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) which allows you to play or view some purchased or subscription content. These copyright protections may prevent some images, videos, music (including ringtones) and other content from being played, copied, modified, transferred or forwarded.

To transfer pictures (via a memory card) to a PC requires a microSD Memory Card, Memory Card Adaptor & Memory Card Reader. The microSD memory card MUST first be formatted, by the handset, in order for the handset to create the destination folders. Please note that the minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.

To format a microSD memory card please follow the steps below:
1. Pull the memory card cover out and turn it to expose the card slot.
2. Push the memory card into the slot until it locks into place
Caution: DO NOT force the card into the memory card slot, as this could damage the card and/or the handset
3. From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
4. Highlight Settings & Tools (9)
5. Select Memory (0)
6. Select Card Memory (3)
7. Select Format Card (8)
8. Highlight Yes, using the navigation keys
9. Press OK to confirm formatting the microSD memory card

WARNING: Formatting the microSD Memory Card will permanently erase all data.
Note: Locked pictures cannot be moved to a memory card.

To transfer pictures from the handset, to a computer follow the steps below:

1. Insert the formatted microSD memory card into the memory card slot.
2. From the standby screen, press Menu
3. Press Settings & Tools
4. Scroll down then press Memory (0)
5. Press Phone Memory (2)
6. Press My Pictures (2)
7. Press Right soft key for Options
8. Select Move (2)
9. Press each desired Photo to check their box or choose Mark All.
10. Press Done
11. Press Yes to Move the Photo(s) to the microSD memory card.
12. Remove the microSD memory card from the memory card slot.
13. Insert the microSD memory card into the memory card adaptor.
14. Insert the memory card adaptor into the memory card reader.
15. Insert the memory card reader into the USB slot on the computer.
16. Navigate to the Photo location, inside the my_pix (or my_flix) folder, using Windows Explorer.
17. Drag and drop or copy & paste the Photo or Video into the desired destination on the computer.
Note: To transfer pictures or videos from a PC simply paste them into the my_pix or my_flix folder on the memory card.

Via Message

1. To send a picture to an e-mail address follow the steps below:
2. From the home screen, press the Left soft key for Messages.
3. Press OK for New Message.
4. Press Picture Message (2)
5. To the right of 1 enter the recipients e-mail address.
6. Press on each recipient to check their box(es) then press Done
7. Press the Text box then enter the Message text (up to 1000 characters)
8. Highlight the Picture box then press the the left soft key for My Pics
9. Higlight desired picture then press Ok to selct
10. Highlight the Sound box then press the the left soft key for Sounds
11. Press the Subject box then enter the Subject text (up to 80 characters)
12. Press the Name Card box then press to add My Name Card or a Contact
13. Press Send to forward the Picture Message to the recipient(s)
Note: Picture are only available within the Verizon Wireless Enhanced Services Area.
Tip: You can send a Picture Message to up to 10 recipients.
Note: To send a message to a group the group must first be added to the favorites.

Please try to update the driver in your computer by trying to launch the run command and type in devmgmt.msc. Click on OK until it launches your Device Manager. Look for any marked items under USB Controllers then right click your mouse until you get the option to update driver.

Question

Why can't my computer read my phone?

I plugged my phone into my computer via USB port.
I thought, like a flash drive, I'd be able to read the folders on my phone and hence,
drag and drop all of my photos and videos into a folder on my PC desktop

But when I plug in the phone my computer says it can't read it and I can't find any software or drivers on your website

Thank you for your correspondence. VZ Navigator® uses GPS positioning to tell you where you are, what’s nearby, and to give you directions quickly and easily. With audible turn-by-turn directions, you can locate points of interest in the U.S., including landmarks, restaurants, and even ATMs.

VZ Navigator requires service activation from the service provider which Verizon Wireless. You may call up their Customer Care toll free number at 1-800-922-0204 for further assistance.

Once you've activate the VZ Navigator, from the Home screen press the center key for Menu> VZ Navigator. The first time you launch VZ Navigator, you’ll be prompted to download and install the application, and to agree to the terms and condition of the service.

Note: To use VZ Navigator, it is also important that the "Location On" setting is enabled. From the Home Screen press the center key for Menu> Settings & Tools> Phone Settings> Location> Use the Directional Key to highlight "Location On" and then press the Center Key for OK

Question

Why is my video wallpaper strangely cropped?

When I set a video as the wallpaper, it is strangely cropped and pixelated. However, I went into the clock display menu, and ONLY in this menu, the video correctly sized and not pixelated. When I return back out to the main screen, the video is again cropped and pixelated. How can I fix this?

Regarding about your concern, we can only set pictures/images as background wallpaper on the main screen of Samsung Convoy™ Cell Phone (SCH-U640). Video files are not supported to set as wallpaper on the phone.

I cannot change the the camcorder quality setting on my Samsung Convoy SCH-U640.

It is stuck on Economy. The options show Fine, Normal, or Economy but it is set to Economy but I cannot choose a higher resolution. Why is that?

Try to do a soft reset on the phone by powering it off and removing the battery then placing it back again to reboot the handset.

Hi there!

Thank you for your inquiry. Configuring the number of rings before a call goes to voicemail is something which is configured by the Service Provider by editing your account with them. This is not a setting which can be configured on the phone itself as it is part of the network services by your provider. To adjust the Ring Count, we recommend contacting the Service Provider for assistance with this issue.

Hi there.

Thank you for your inquiry. If you're trying to assign your mp3 file set as ringtone there are no configurable options available for that.

However, if you want to assign a ringtone to a contact follow the steps below:

1. While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Contacts
2. Highlight the contact entry, using the navigation keys
3. the left soft key for Edit
4. Highlight Ringtone (Default), using the navigation keys
5. Press the left soft key for Set
6. Highlight the desired Ringtone, using the navigation keys, or select Get New Ringtones, to download new ringtones from Verizon
7. Press OK to set the Contact Ringtone
8. Press OK again to Save the Contact settings

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, Samsung does not offer a Data Kit software package, for the purpose of transferring data between the Samsung Convoy (SCH-U640) and a personal computer.

However, you may contact your Service Provider for an application or service you may acquire for you to transfer Outlook information to the phone.
