Question

How can one permanently turn off the top external keys?

I carry it in my pocket and even when you lock the keys it ends up in the V Cast Music mode (red screen) and runs the battery down. I would be very happy if the top three buttons did not exist. I would even give up all the external buttons. Once it gets in this mode, the bluetooth is disabled until you turn it off and then back on. I would think that when you lock the keys then you should not be able to use these keys to unlock them. Bad design?

The handset's mass storage feature allows the transfer of Pictures and Video files directly from a PC to the microSD memory card, inserted in the phone. In order to use this option, the microSD memory card must be formatted by the phone to create the necessary folders.

To transfer files, using the Mass Storage option, follow the steps below:

Insert a formatted memory card into the memory card slot
From the standby screen, press the OK key for Menu
Select Settings & Tools (9)
Select Tools (2)
Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC's USB slot
Select USB Mass Storage (8)
When successfully connected, the phone will show Connected to the PC... and Call Disabled on the display
If prompted, click "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" on the new Removable Disk screen or open Windows Explorer manually
Navigate to the location of the files on the PC
Drag n Drop or copy & paste the file(s) into into the phone's My_Pix or My-Flix folder.

Hi Kanati!

Thank you for your inquiry. We don't have any available driver's or software for your Samsung Convoy (SCH-U640). However, I included here the steps for you to connect your phone with your personal computer.

To connect to a PC follow the steps below:

1. Pull out and up the memory card slot cover.
2. Insert the formatted microSD card into the memory card slot.
3. Connect the USB data cable to both the handset and the USB port on the PC.
4. While in stand by mode press the OK button.
5. Choose Settings & Tools.
6. Choose Tools.
7. Choose USB Mass Storage.
8. Press OK to Disconnect when finished.

WARNING: Do NOT disconnect the USB cable from the PC or handset during file transfer as this may cause damage to the handset or PC.

You may try to update the driver in your computer by trying to launch the run command and type in devmgmt.msc. Click on OK until it launches your Device Manager. Look for any marked items under USB Controllers then right click your mouse until you get the option to update driver.

Should you desire additional assistance regarding this, we invite you to call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357 between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Question

on my Convoy U640, is it possible to turn off the phone at night but have the alarm sound automatically in the morning?

For example, with my prior cellphone, at night I could set the alarm to sound at 6:00 AM the next morning, then turn off the cellphone to save its battery, and the cellphone would turn on automatically at 6:00 AM and sound the alarm. Is there a way to make the Samsung do this? Thanks.
