Hi there!

Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding about your concern, the Intensity™ II (SCH-U460) does not have a feature of creating your own ringtone. However, if your ringtone is saved on your computer, you can transfer it to your phone and set it as a ringtone.

For you to transfer ringtones from your computer to the phone, follow the procedure on this link:

http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view_us.jsp?SITE_ID=22&PG_ID=2&PROD_SUB_ID=557&PROD_ID=561&AT_ID=300553

If the microSD memory card came from another phone and you could not saved any files on it. Try to format the microSD memory card using your phone so that the phone will recognize the microSD memory card inserted in it.

1. From the standby screen, press OK for Menu.
2. Highlight Settings & Tools.
3. Select Memory.
4. Select Card Memory.
5. Select Format Card.
6. Highlight Yes, using the navigation keys.
7. Press OK to confirm formatting the microSD memory card.

Note: Formatting the microSD memory card will delete all information saved on your memory card. I will suggest backing up first your files saved on the microSD memory card.

You may also create a voice record and then set it as a ringtone on the SCH-U460 handset:
1. From the standby screen, press the OK button for Menu.
2. Select Media Center.
3. Select Music & Tones.
4. Select My Sounds.
5. Create voice record and then save it.
6. Highlight the desired voice recording, using the navigation keys.
7. Press the left soft key for Set As.
8. Select Ringtone to set the voice recording as the Ringtone.

Question

Powering down issue

Hello I've had two of these phones now and they keep powering down on their own. Then won't power on again unless I remove and reinsert the battery. Then it will turn on again. Every time the battery has plenty of charge. The first phone did this 3 times in a week. I've exchanged it for another phone and now this one is doing it too. Is there a setting or something I need to change? Could something be wrong with the battery?

I would recommend you to visit the nearest Service Provider store to try another battery and charger on the phone to be able to know what's causing the powering down - if it's the battery, charger or the phone itself. Once issue was isolated then best to contact Samsung Technical Support 1-888-987-4357 Direct Hotline for further assistance. You will be either offered to repair the phone or replace the charger or battery for Free as long as everything is In Warranty and has no physical and water damage on it. Further details will be explained on the call.

Question

How do I use the music player?

I have mp3 songs on my memory card but cannot play them. When I insert the card into the phone, the phone believes that I have no music available.

I have been unable to connect my phone to the computer because I have no USB driver for this phone on my computer and do not know how to get it. So I just put the music directly onto the card and inserted the card into the phone, but that doesn't seem to work. What should I do?

Thank you for your inquiry.
Hi, there is a way to change the background or the main display on your phone. However since the picture that you want to use is the one that you took from the camera of your phone, you will need to check if it is available or if there is an option to select it. Because there are some cases that it is grayed out. So please double check it.
To change the default wallpaper follow the steps below:
While in standby mode, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools (9)
Select Display Settings (7)
Select Wallpaper (4)
Select Home Screen (1)
Highlight the desired Picture, using the navigation keys, or press the right soft key for Get New
Press the OK button to save the Wallpaper setting.

Question

Bluetooth auto-pairing does not ask for a PIN or passkey, as indicated on page 20 in the owner's manual?

Ford SYNC provides a 6-digit PIN for bluetooth pairing. The Intensity II finds SYNC, but when attempting to pair, the phone says auto pair failed. At this point, the manual (page 20) says the phone will ask for a PIN or passkey. It does not. Instead, it just dumps me back to the "select device" screen. SYNC allows me to manually create a PIN. I have tried 0000, 1234, and the last four digits of the phone number, with no success. How do I enter the 6-digit PIN / passkey from SYNC into the phone?

On our end, there’s no CDMA driver available for the SCH-u460 (Intensity II) handset.

If you intend to transfer files between your phone and your computer that’s why you’re looking for a driver, then you won’t need one. For MP3 Files, you’ll just need to set the phone to Mass Storage by using a compatible USB data cable and a formatted memory card inserted on the device for it to be recognized by the computer. However, for the picture files, your option would be via Memory card and via Email or MMS.

If you wish to continue, you may follow the steps below:

(FOR MP3 FILES)

>>Mass Storage

The handset's mass storage feature allows the transfer of MP3 files directly from a PC to the microSD memory card, inserted in the phone. In order to use this option, the microSD memory card must be formatted by the phone to create the necessary folders.

****To Format SD card using the phone:

1. Pull the memory card cover out and turn it to expose the card slot.
2. Push the memory card into the slot until it locks into place

Caution: DO NOT force the card into the memory card slot, as this could damage the card and/or the handset

3. From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
4. Highlight Settings & Tools (9)
5. Select Memory (0)
6. Select Card Memory (3)
7. Select Format Card (8)
8. Highlight Yes, using the navigation keys
9. Press OK to confirm formatting the microSD memory card

Please Note: The minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.

Note: If the Bluetooth feature is currently active on the phone, USB communication will not be available. To transfer files to your phone, turn off the Bluetooth functionality.

WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE MP3 FILE TRANSFER

STEPS:

1. Insert a formatted memory card into the memory card slot.
3. From the standby screen, press the OK key for Menu
4. Select Settings & Tools (9)
5. Select Tools (3)
6. Connect the USB cable to both the phone's Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC's USB slot

 When successfully connected, the phone will show Connected to the PC... and Call Disabled on the display

7. Select USB Mass Storage (8)
8. If prompted, click "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" on the new Removable Disk screen or open Windows Explorer manually

9. Navigate to the location of the MP3 files on the PC
10. Drag n Drop or copy & paste the MP3 file(s) into into the phone's My_Music folder

WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT USB CABLE DURING THE MP3 FILE TRANSFER

(FOR PICTURES)

>>Via Memory Card

Important!: The plug-in microSD memory card and its contents can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the card and keep all memory cards out of reach of children.

To transfer pictures (via a memory card) to a PC requires a microSD Memory Card, Memory Card Adaptor & Memory Card Reader. The microSD memory card MUST first be formatted, by the handset, in order for the handset to create the destination folders. Please note that the minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.

WARNING: Formatting the microSD Memory Card will permanently erase all data

Note: Locked pictures cannot be moved to a memory card

STEPS:

1. Insert the formatted microSD memory card into the memory card slot
2. From the standby screen, press Menu
3. Press Settings & Tools
4. Scroll down then press Memory (0)
5. Press Phone Memory (2)

Greetings!
I am sorry for the inconvenience that this may caused you. Before anything else please perform a power cycle on your handset first. Turn off your phone, remove the battery, remove the SIM card, wait for a minute or two, put everything back and turn on the phone.
We can also do minimal troubleshooting. Once troubleshooting has been done to the point of actual failure, we can setup a repair on the product, should it be determined the problem cannot be resolved over the phone. We can repair the phone, if it is still under warranty and has not been physically damaged.
If it is deemed, after troubleshooting, that the handset requires service/repair, our Repair Administrators will create a Return Material Authorization (RMA#) for the device. Provided there is no physical damage to the phone and the failure is not due to any type of liquid damage, the phone will be repaired under warranty.
If the phone has experienced damage or is out of warranty by date (it was purchased more than one year ago) the standard charge will likely apply for the repairs to your phone. We are only able to arrange payment for these repairs through credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

For troubleshooting and questions related to possible repairs we invite you to contact Samsung Customer Care at your earliest convenience through our toll free number 1-888-987-HELP (1-888-987-4357).

Hello!

Configuring the number of rings before a call goes to voicemail is something which is configured by the Service Provider by editing your account with them. This is not a setting which can be configured on the phone itself as it is part of the network services by your provider.

To adjust the Ring Count, we recommend contacting the Service Provider for assistance with this issue.

Happy Holidays!
