Hi Wakeshia,

Thank you for your correspondence.

Most issues like this may be resolved with minimal troubleshooting. Once troubleshooting has been done to the point of actual failure, we can setup a repair on the handset, should it be determined the problem cannot be resolved over the phone. We can repair the phone, if it is still under warranty and has not been physically damaged.

At your earliest convenience, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Our repair facility will have the phone roughly 5-10 days from the time that it is received. Some dealer locations may offer a loaner phone program while your handset is in repair. While Samsung cannot control the availability of these products or programs in your area, please contact your local provider or dealer if you are in need of a phone, to find out if they are a participating member of this program. If you have any questions regarding this process, please ask the Service Representative at the time of your call.

Additionally, if your device is in warranty or you have insurance through your service provider, some providers do offer a replacement policy on phones which need servicing. In some cases, they may send out a replacement phone and the phone that you are having issues with will be sent back to them in return. For more details on a possible exchange, please contact your Service Provider.

Question

Why does the manual that comes with this phone not begin to explain how to use it?

This is my first cell phone, EVER. It was a gift. People were tired of me not having one. I could easily live without it. I do not know what the icons mean. How to use the camera to its full ability is not explained. How to do anything is not explained. I do not understand what the numbers following messages mean. The camera had been making the shutter click noise, but today it isn't. I checked the options; it says the shutter sound is on; if so, why doesn't it click when I take a photo? What do all of those symbols on the camera screen mean, and why are they there only sometimes? I don't know what "lock" and "unlock" refer to in regard to messages. What does "draft" mean? There are just about a thousand things I need to learn as to how to use this phone, but your manual for it is absolutely worthless. What can I do?

Question

VERIZON BUYING OUT ALLTEL / WARRANTY

OUR DOG HAS COMPLETELY DEVOURED MY BRAND NEW UPGRADED CELL PHONE (SAMSUNG INTENSITY II) ON 2/18/11. THIS NEW CELL PHONE IS UNDER WARRANTY. MY MOM AND I RECENTLY UPGRADED OUR CELL PHONES ON 9/12/10. ON 2/19/11, OUR LOCAL VERIZON STORE INFORMED ME THAT THEY CAN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT MY SITUATION UNLESS I BUY ANOTHER CELL PHONE & ADD ANOTHER LINE TO OUR CONTRACT AT AN EXTRA MONTHLY FEE. ALSO, THEY WON'T ACTIVATE MY PRIOR VERIZON PHONE BECAUSE IT SAYS ALLTEL ON IT . . . VERIZON BOUGHT OUT ALLTEL! THIS SHOULDN’T BE A QUESTION. DOESN’T VERIZON OWN ALLTEL? IT SHOULD BE VERIZON'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ASSIST ME WITH MY PRIOR CELL PHONE. WHEN WE UPGRADED, THAT WAS THE FIRST THING THAT WE ASKED ABOUT. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM DEALING WITH ANY ISSUES CONCERNING OUR ALLTEL CELL PHONE. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT IF I COULD FIND SOMEONE WHO HAS AN OLD VERIZON CELL PHONE IN THEIR POSSESSION (WITH THE WORD “VERIZON” ON IT), THEY COULD POSSIBLY REACTIVE THAT PHONE FOR ME. MY PHONE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. ISN’T THERE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT RESOLVING THIS MATTER IN A POSITIVE WAY? ANY HELP / SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION.

Samsung provides the specifications for music files which are compatible for your handset. However, we do not support conversion of your personal files for use with the phone.

If you have a music file that you wish to transfer to your phone for use, we recommend searching the internet for conversion software which will meet your needs.

Hi esbas!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Please Note: The SCH-U460 (Intensity II) handset includes support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) which allows you to play or view some purchased or subscription content. These copyright protections may prevent some images, videos, music (including ringtones) and other content from being played, copied, modified, transferred or forwarded.

Here's how you can transfer pictures and videos between your phone and your computer:

Via Memory Card

Important!: The plug-in microSD memory card and its contents can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the card and keep all memory cards out of reach of children.

To transfer pictures (via a memory card) to a PC requires a microSD Memory Card, Memory Card Adaptor & Memory Card Reader. The microSD memory card MUST first be formatted, by the handset, in order for the handset to create the destination folders. Please note that the minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.

WARNING: Formatting the microSD Memory Card will permanently erase all data

Note: Locked pictures cannot be moved to a memory card

To transfer pictures (via a memory card), from the SCH-U460 (Intensity II) handset, to a PC follow the steps below:

Insert the formatted microSD memory card into the memory card slot
From the standby screen, press Menu
Press Settings & Tools
Scroll down then press Memory
Press Phone Memory
Press My Pictures
Press Right soft key for Options
Select Move
Press each desired Photo to check their box or choose Mark All
Press Done
Press Yes to Move the Photo(s) to the microSD memory card
Remove the microSD memory card from the memory card slot
Insert the microSD memory card into the memory card adaptor
Insert the memory card adaptor into the memory card reader
Insert the memory card reader into the USB slot on the PC
Navigate to the Photo location, inside the my_pix (or my_flix) folder, using Windows Explorer
Drag and drop or copy & paste the Photo or Video into the desired destination on the PC
Note: To transfer pictures or videos from a PC simply paste them into the my_pix or my_flix folder on the memory card

I bought a microSD card, and when I slide it into the slot, it won't latch. Anything special I need to do?

Yes, I have the connector fingers on the "underside". And I can hold it in place, fully inserted, and the phone recognizes it. Seems to be a mechanical problem.

Hi Susanna922,

Thank you for your inquiry. You may change settings on your text messaging option so that you can type or text using T9 dictionary on your Samsung Intensity II.

T9 Word is a predictive text entry mode that recognizes common words matching the sequence of your key presses and inserts the most common word into your text. T9 Word requires only one key press per letter of the word, and is much faster than traditional text entry.

1. To switch to T9 Word mode, press the Left Soft Key > Entry Mode > T9 Word.
While entering text:
• Press the key for each letter only once.
• Enter the entire word before editing or deleting characters.
• Use these keys to enter special characters:
– Press *+ key to switch between T9 Word (initial case), T9 word (lowercase) and T9 WORD (upper case).
