Question

How do I enter a passkey when pairing my bluetooth?

The phone recognizes the car. When I press ok to add it says passkey is incorrect and to enter passkey, but nothing opens up to allow me to enter the 4-digit number. Incendentally, the passkey of the car is '0000' which I understand to be the passkey default attempt in the phone. What do I need to do, button-by-button, on the phone to enter the passkey.

Hi there!

Thank you for your inquiry.

There's no configurable option for you to connect the phone with your personal computer for transferring of media files between two devices. The USB port on your handset is intended only for charging the battery of the phone. This is default on the settings of your Samsung Gusto (SCH-U360).

Thank you for your inquiry.

Regarding your concern, there is no need to install any software on the computer for you to connect the handset with your PC. All you need to have is a memory card inside the handset and a data cable then set the phone to mass storage.

To connect the phone to the computer, please follow the steps below:
Pull out and up the memory card slot cover
Insert the formatted microSD card into the memory card slot
Connect the USB data cable to both the handset and the USB port on the PC
If Select USB Mode appears on the display press the clear key to return to the standby screen OR if the MTP Connect to the PC... appears on the display, press OK then with Yes highlighted press OK to disconnect from the PC
From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools
Select Tools
Select USB Mass Storage
From the PC, double click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop
Double click on the newly created drive letter (which may appear as an icon or text, depending on your View settings)
Double click on the folder to view the contents
Copy and paste or drag n drop the files to/from the destination on the PC
From the handset, press OK for Disconnect
With Yes highlighted, press OK then remove the USB data cable from both the handset and PC

Should you desire additional assistance regarding this, we invite you to call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357 between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Question

How can I use Windows explorer or Windows Live Photo Gallery to download pictures from my SCH-U360 to my laptop?

Windows explorer doesn't seem to know that the phone is even there on a USB port;
Windows Live Photo Gallery doesn't "find" any photo or video files (out of the 36 I'd like to download).
There is a "USB connector" program available on the net, but only as part of a general device driver program package, at big $$.

Hi SBailey,

Thanks for reaching out to us for support.

The Gusto does not use (or have the capability to use) a Micro SD card. The only options to get the pics off the camera's internal memory is by using then VCast Media Manager or send them as a picture message to your email address or upload to your online album. For information on using the VCast Media Manager, please contact your service provider.

Using Windows Vista (and probably Windows 7) the USB drivers can be automatically downloaded from Windows Update when you first connect the phone to the computer. That's what I did.

However the phone only provides two USB functions.

1) Data modem
2) Debug serial port

That is you CANNOT transfer contacts or pictures to/from the phone via USB.

HOW TO I SHUT OFF AUTO PAIRING AND INPUT A PASSKEY?

Trying to use SAMSUNG GUSTO to connect to microsoft sync in my 2011 ford edge. Sync demands a passkey, but the GUSTO defaults to automatic paring without an opportunity to enter the passkey. I've tried to turn off automatic pairing, but it still does it automatically and then gives me a passkey error for feedback. After awhile, sync times out on the passkey request and I'm back to trying again. The main problem is - I can't figure out where or how to enter the requested passkey into the phone.

Hi Scotty4639,

Thanks for reaching out to us for support.

By default, the contacts are saved onto the SIM card. If you have contacts stored on a SIM card from an old phone, the contacts should automatically upload onto the new phone. For assistance with this process, please reach out to your service provider. Issues such as voicemail, texting, billing, minutes/data used, and SIM unlock requests are handled by your carrier.
