I had the same issue. It seems that if your contacts are transfered from your old phone BEFORE you create a new GMail account you will lose your contacts. Hopefully you still have the old phone because the solution is to have your cellular provider reset the phone to factory condition, set up your GMail account and THEN transfer your contacts to the phone.

Previous answer is correct. This is a terrible flaw....I had all my contacts transferred from old phone to Acclaim...only to lose them ALL when I set up G-mail account. I had to drive back to US Cellular store with both phones and have my contact list transferred again. Why aren't these apps and issues tested and handled before the new phones are released?! And the Acclaim has been out a while...so every store should KNOW this issue!!!

I had the same problem, but then I did a search on a name that had been in my contact list, and it found the complete contact information. For some reason, the complete contact list is IN the phone ( or somewhere) but will not display in the contact list, no matter how many times I enable/disable the default settings. Instead, it shows 4 contacts that it appears to have selected at random. Unfortunately, it wouldn't let me "remake" the contacts to get them into the contact list, either, so I have to keystroke a name in the search whenever I want to call one of those stored numbers. No browsing. This customer support site is not very good.

You can actually go into Contacts, select the Contact icon and press Menu. Then Select Display options and click on your GMAIL account. Go to the bottom of the list and select ALL OTHER CONTACTS. This will allow you to see the contacts.

We do not have any known issue with the Samsung Acclaim.
If you are having a problem with the phone, you can go to your service provider so they can check on the phone and they can try a different battery and charger to isolate the issue.
We can also do minimal troubleshooting to your phone. Once troubleshooting has been done to the point of actual failure, we can setup a repair on the product, should it be determined the problem cannot be resolved over the phone. We can repair the phone, if it is still under warranty and has not been physically damaged.
If it is deemed, after troubleshooting, that the handset requires service/repair, our Repair Administrators will create a Return Material Authorization (RMA#) for the device. Provided there is no physical damage to the phone and the failure is not due to any type of liquid damage, the phone will be repaired under warranty.
For troubleshooting and questions related to possible repairs we invite you to contact Samsung Customer Care at your earliest convenience through our toll free number 1-888-987-HELP (1-888-987-4357).
Yes, very common issue. no one will acknowledge there is a problem. Just read all the posts on sdx and android forums.

Yes I'm having this same problem, locks up, have to remove btty, happens about one time daily. Generally happens while idle, not during active use. I'm on 2.1, someone says 2.2 fixes it, so I'll upgrade, even though I don't like to upgrade to an OS version that's less than 6 mos. old.

Connect the phone to your computer via the usb cord. then from there you will need to mount your SD card so the computer recognizes it as a usb drive. From there you can drag and drop files from your computer to the sd card.
Even with Froyo 2.2, Adobe Flash is not available or compatible with the Acclaim.

Question
I have a Samsung Acclaim SCH-R880 that freezes periodically, how do I prevent this?
It has a black screen and is unresponsive the only way to restore it is to remove the battery. It seems to happen most often when the phone sits idle for some time.

if your battery meter on your phone is getting really low, it appears the phone goes into some type of hibernation mode. whenever the battery life on my phones get below 15% it appears to be unresponsive but after a few minutes it starts to respond again. also check your screen settings and other power settings to make sure nothing has changed or is strange
The reason you get a black screen is when the phone goes to a time out mode, in order for you to access the phone and for the screen to come back up, press the lock button on the side.
You may set your timer longer before it goes to time out mode. there should be an option to set it from 15 seconds to 5 minutes
Why does my Acclaim shut down every day, requiring me to remove the battery?

For troubleshooting and questions related to possible repairs we invite you to contact Samsung Customer Care at your earliest convenience through our toll free number 1-888-987-HELP (1-888-987-4357).
I had the same issue. I restored my phone to factory setting and re-downloaded a few apps. As near as I can tell it was either my task killer or an anti-virus app that was causing the phone to freeze.
All you have to do is call your cellphone number (call yourself) and when you hear your voicemail greeting start just press the * (or # depending on carrier) on the landline phone and it should prompt you for your password. Now just continue as if you had called from your cell phone. Enter your password and follow the prompts. Good Luck hope this helps.

Hi julianna!
Thank you for your inquiry. If you receive an MMS with a ringtone, song, picture on it, you can find it under your messaging on your Samsung Acclaim (SCH-R880). There's no configurable option for you to transfer them on the memory card of your phone. You may try use the bluetooth capability of your handset for transferring data files like ringtones, pictures, videos, etc which can be with a big help without changing any settings of those files after transferring them on your handset. By that, you can be able to save all those files from the memory card of your phone and use them on their own functionality or usability.
Thank you for your continued interest in Samsung products.
if you press the message/media you wanna transfer from your messages to your sd card a box will pop up and all you have to do is choase the "save to sd" option

You will need to look into Market for an App that will work with your Outlook and possibly with your Exchange server if your company runs Exchange. There are several apps available on Market available and more being developed daily. I would search for outlook sync and see what comes up and how they are rated.
press the message with your finger for a few seconds and a box wll pop up.... just chose the save or move to sd option.

This phone is an Android phone thus, it is dependent on google. However you can try to tap and hold on the google search bar and drag it to the trash can to take that off your home page.
I was told by UsCell that the 2.2 update should take care of that issue. I was having that issue before and I have done the update and so far so good. Hope this helps.
