Question

How do you retrieve images from an SD card to view on the phone?

I just purchased the phone earlier today and correctly inserted the card into the phone so I could get my pictures/music but I can only get the music to work on the player.
I've looked at previous questions on the FAQ to find helpful hints but they still don't seem to work. I've made sure that the files were in .jpg form but when i try going through the steps to get to the Memory Manager and to the photos, it says there are none. I made sure that i did have photos by checking on the computer and they were all there, so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.

Regarding your concern, there is no need to install any software on the computer for you to connect the device with your PC. All you need to have is a memory card inside the handset and a data cable then set the phone to mass storage.

To connect the phone to the computer, please follow the steps below:
Pull out and up the memory card slot cover
Insert the formatted microSD card into the memory card slot
Connect the USB data cable to both the handset and the USB port on the PC
If Select USB Mode appears on the display press the clear key to return to the standby screen OR if the MTP Connect to the PC... appears on the display, press OK then with Yes highlighted press OK to disconnect from the PC
From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools
Select Tools
Select USB Mass Storage
From the PC, double click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop
Double click on the newly created drive letter (which may appear as an icon or text, depending on your View settings)
Double click on the folder to view the contents
Copy and paste or drag n drop the files to/from the destination on the PC
From the handset, press OK for Disconnect
With Yes highlighted, press OK then remove the USB data cable from both the handset and PC

Basically with this phone model that you have, to change the military time to standard you have to change it via World Time, you have to go there.
World Time lets you view the time of day or night in up to four cities of the world at the same time. World Time displays time in any of dozens of different cities and/or time zones around the world.
From the Tools menu, tap World Time. The World Time screen appears in the display.
To add a clock to the World
Time screen, tap +. The Add
Clock menu pops-up in the display listing the following options:
United States — Lists cities in the USA.
• Other Countries — Lists cities in countries other than the USA.
Tap the desired option. The Cities / Countries menu appears in the display.
Do one of the following:
• Search for the desired city by opening the QWERTY keypad, tapping the search field, and entering the first few letters of the city’s name.
• Browse the list by swiping up/down until you find the desired city’s name.
To add the desired city to the World Time screen, tap the city’s name.
To set World Time options, tap the desired clock. The following options are available:
• DST — Turns Daylight Saving Time display on or off for this clock.
• Erase — Remove this clock from the World Time screen.
• 2nd clock set — Designate this clock as 2nd clock.

Question

I have a "restricted number" that I cannot edit, so I removed it, and now cannot add it again.

I have a messager touch-don't know the model number, am travelling so I don't have my book- but the instructions for adding an "ICE" number were not there anyway, I just stumbled onto how to do that, and cannot remember. Now I have a contact who was an ICE #, deleted it, because I could not edit any of the fields, now I cannot add it back at all. It keeps saying "restricted number" yet it is not in my contacts at all. HELP!

Why do photos transfered to my phone display only as a large question mark?

The photos were transferred successfully via Bluetooth; however, they do not display. In their place only a large question mark appears. There is plenty of memory on the phone to accomodate the jpg files.

The SCH-r630 phone supports JPG picture file format. The phone includes support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) which allows you to play or view some purchased or subscription content. These copyright protections may prevent some images, videos, music (including ringtones) and other content from being copied, modified, transferred or forwarded.
And since the pictures were transferred via Bluetooth there’s a possibility that the picture being transferred has DRM on it. And just to make sure, you can also try transferring the pictures into a non-Samsung phone and check if that phone or device will recognize the picture.

Where can I get the "SAMSUNG CDMA TECHNOLOGIES" driver?

So I just got a Samsung SCH-R630 and got me a Data Cable too. When I plug it into my Computer it asks to Install the "SAMSUNG CDMA TECHNOLOGIES" but when i say yes and it tries to Install it, it fails. I also have Samsung PC Studio 7 (latest) but it cant connect to my Cell.. I'm on Windows XP Professional.

Question

Is there a way to extend the time before the screen locks when accessing voicemail?

When accessing voicemail, before I have a chance to press "Dialer" again so I can enter my password, I get the screen locked message, requiring me to swipe the screen before I can access dialer again. This is a pain, and seems silly. While I can live with the screen lock, I would like more time before it kicks in. Is there a way to modify this setting? Why does it do this?

Here are the steps on how to change the backlight settings follow the steps below:

1. From the standby screen, touch Menu
2. Touch Settings
3. Touch Display Settings
4. Touch Backlight
5. Touch Backlight Time
6. Touch the desired Backlight setting from the following:
o 10 Seconds
o 15 Seconds
o 30 Seconds
o Always On
o Aleays Dim
7. Touch OK to save the Backlight Time setting

Note: Lengthy backlight times will drain the battery faster

How do I make the music player work.

I have tried to download music to the memory card while it is in the phone but the computer asks for a program. I have tried to download music to the memory card outside of the phone, then insert and it will only allow me to move music to the ringtones, not the music player.

Hi, please follow the steps below on how to transfer music to your phone when the memory card is inserted in the phone.

1. Set the PC connection setting to Mass Storage
2. From the standby screen, touch Menu
3. Touch Settings
4. Touch Phone Settings
5. Touch PC Connection
6. Touch USB
7. Connect the compatible USB data cable to both the handset's Power/Accessory Connector and to a USB port on the PC
8. The handset will now display "USB Mass Storage"
9. Open Windows Explorer
10. Drag n drop or copy & paste the MP3 files to the handset
11. Once finished disconnect the USB cable from both the handset & PC

Here are the file format that the phone supports as music and ringtones: MP3, MP4 / AAC, MP4 / AMR, M4A, 3GP / AAC, 3GP / AMR, WMA REAL

Greetings!
There are several ways on how to connect your phone to your PC and transfer files.
Pictures, videos and music can be transferred to a PC by via a compatible USB data cable, copying pictures, videos or music to a memory card or sending pictures, videos or music via the Bluetooth FTP (File Transfer Profile).
USB Cable
From the standby screen, touch Menu
Touch Settings
Touch Phone Settings
Touch PC Connection
Touch USB
Exit to standby screen and attach USB Cable
Drag and drop or cut and past the files from the phone to the PC.
Memory Card
To copy or move images to a micro SD memory card follow the steps below:
Open the memory card socket cover, located on the upper right side of the handset
Insert a micro SD memory card, into the memory card socket, until locked in place
Close the memory card socket cover
From the home screen, touch Menu
Touch Multimedia
Touch Pictures
Touch the Menu icon
Touch Move and Select To Card
Select more than one by touching the picture, or select Mark All
Touch Done when finished
To copy videos to a micro SD memory card follow the steps below:
Open the memory card socket cover, located on the upper right side of the handset
Insert a micro SD memory card, into the memory card socket, until locked in place
Close the memory card socket cover
From the home screen, touch Menu

Bluetooth FTP
Note: Both Bluetooth devices MUST support Bluetooth FTP (File Transfer Profile)
To transfer (via a Bluetooth adaptor) Photo files, from the SCH-R850 (Caliber) phone, to a PC follow the steps below:
On the Samsung phone
While in standby mode, turn Bluetooth On
Change the phone’s Bluetooth visibility to On
On the PC
Connect the Bluetooth adaptor to the PC’s USB port
Search for Bluetooth devices
Select the device to pair with the PC
Exchange PIN code(s) on both the PC & phone to pair devices (default pass code is “0000”)
Using My Bluetooth Places, select File Transfer to view the phone’s contents
Copy the desired Photo file
Paste the file in a PC destination.
The steps above are also the same for transferring of music.

Question

When I move pictures from Macbook to phone, they don't show up. How come?

The file is transferred but the image only shows a question mark. I have tried this using bluetooth file transfer and copying and pasting onto a memory card. Same results for both kinds of transfer.

A voicemail setting is a network dependent feature. So you will need to contact your Service Provider for them to help you configure the voicemail on your SCH-R630 handset.

Question

Is it possible to get Realtone Jukebox VIP Club

as a Brew application. The only one offered is just plain "Realtone Jukebox" and it is very expensive. The VIP Club provides 5 ringtones per month for $5.99. I upgraded my phone from an LG to Samsung Messenger and am disappointed in the lack of ringtone package choices.
