Question

Can download photos from computer to SCH-R330 through Bluetooth dongle but can't upload to computer despite being paired . What may be blocking?

I have a SCH-R330ZRAUSC phone from US Cellular. I purchased aVista supported Bluetooth USB Dongle ver. 2.0 compliant. and through it I can connect to either a Dell XPS 420 Vista computer or a HP Pavilion Elite running Windows 7. In both situations I can pair the computer and phone using the default password "0000" (as suggested in another Q&A). I can then download a small 200 +/- kb jpg file photo successfully to the phone. However if I try to upload a similar or ever the same file photo to the computer, having also instructed the computer to receive ( and to be discoverable), nothing happens after pressing the Send button and then the Via Blutooth button and the done button. The phone goes back to the "Coose Device" screen. Meanwhile the computer waits with the Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard screen and the message: "Waiting for a connection from another computer or device....". What could be amiss.

Regarding about your concern, please try to have a soft reset on the Samsung Stride™ Cell Phone (SCH-R330). Soft reset is removing the battery for about a minute on your phone and putting it back just for you to refresh the settings on the handset.

Please also try to disconnect the pairing, and then pair it again to transfer the media file.

Should this troubleshooting step did not work; we invite to contact our Customer Support Center as they can troubleshoot this issue in a timelier manner than we could through forum correspondence.

At your earliest convenience, please call Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Question

How do I transfer phonebook entries en masse from my Samsung Stride to my car bluetooth device

I know I can enter numbers individually to my auto directory but it is laborious and since I can connect to the auto through bluetooth to make hands-free phone calls I would like to be able to access the Stride phone directory through a voice command or transfer phone numbers en masse directly to the auto's phone directory or even individually. Thanks for any info.

hi lckauth!

Thank you for your correspondence. The phone has the Bluetooth Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) which information from the mobile's phone book will be made available in the hands-free car kit making it accessible to the user. The user can simply download and browse the phone book from any mobile phone or PDA. However, There is no settings or procedure on the phone to transfer phonebook to the Carkit because by default the Carkit device is the one that will grab the phonebook information on the phone. You may have to refer to the manual of the carkit for getting the information on the handset's phonebook.

Hi jklvmunda!

Thank you for your inquiry. While your handset does support the Bluetooth profile for file transfer operation, this would best be addressed by your laptop manufacturer, as they can provide a list handsets approved for compatibility. In most cases, this information is available on the manufacturer’s website.

Please bear in mind that Samsung does not support the use of any third party hardware with our handsets. We apologize for any inconvenience this presents.

Hi Eugenesgirl22!

Thank you for your inquiry. From the Home Screen go to Menu> Tools> Lock Phone. The Lock Phone option lets you Lock or Unlock your phone immediately or set your phone to lock itself On Power Up. Locking the r330 blocks all outgoing calls except those to 911 and to any other user-programmed emergency numbers. You can lock the phone manually, or set the phone to lock automatically when turned on. In Lock mode, you can answer calls, but you must unlock the phone to place calls (except to emergency numbers).

Important!: If after setting your phone to Lock itself On Power Up, you change the NAM Selection setting from NAM1 to NAM2, but there is no number programmed into NAM2, you won’t be able to access your phone. You must call your Wireless Provider’s Service Center to unlock your phone.

Change Lock: The Change Lock option lets you replace your phone’s default lock code (the last four digits of your phone number) with one of your own choosing. It is advisable to change the default lock code to a secret code for security purposes. When you select Change Lock, you will be prompted to enter the current lock code followed by entering your new lock code, and then re-entering it, for verification.

Note: Your phone does not allow you to view the lock code for obvious security reasons. If you change the lock code, be sure to write down or memorize the new code.
