Question

How do you connect to a Samsung SCH-LC11 at wireless N (802.11n) speed?

Firstly, I noticed the default setting on the device was set to broadcast at ‘b/g’ in the admin web user interface. (Network>>WiFi>>802.11 Mode)

I changed the setting to 'b/g/n' and the hotspot powercycled. Since, I have tried connecting to the hotspot with several different laptops #a few that never connected to it prior.# Additional Info: There is no ‘g/n’ or ‘n only’ option in the admin interface or I would have selected it.

Laptops used to connect to Verizon mobile hotspot: Three laptops were running Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise x64bit. One laptop is running Windows 7 SP1 x64 Ultimate. One laptop is running Mac OS X 10.7.3. I confirmed all laptops had internal 802.11n compatible wireless cards. All laptops connected at 802.11g.

Important: I have more than one SCH-LC11 in my possession and they all experience the same issue. #Meaning: the issue doesn’t appear to be limited to one single ‘defective’ device.#

I recalled previously updating the firmware #on all devices# to address an issue the devices had with connecting over VPN. Currently the firmware is version EF07. I re-updated the firmware using the latest available firmware as of 4/17/2012 and the firmware remained EF07.

Thank you for your question!

Battery life durations specified on our products are tested in our labs under multiple different conditions and the talk and standby times are a realistic average maximum dependent on customer usage variables. Some variables that may affect battery life are:
 Backlight set to always on (or set to stay on for an extended period of time)
 Ringtone set to higher volumes
 Vibrate settings turned on
 Using Internet Services including Text Messaging
 Making and/or receiving calls in an analog service area (even standing in an analog service area can reduce battery life)
 Making and/or receiving calls in a "weak" coverage area of 1 to 2 bars of signal strength (even standing in a "weak" signal area can reduce battery life)
 Using non-Samsung charging accessories

Please try to do a soft reset on the phone by powering it off and removing the battery then placing it back again to reboot the handset.

If this does not work, please just write us again on this forum or you can also chat live with a support agent by following the link below and clicking on Mobile Phones under Live Chat Support, or feel free to ask us on Twitter @GalaxySsupport or @samsungsupport for speedy responses in the U.S.

The only time your usage is affected is when actual data is being transmitted so if it's in dormant (hanging around waiting) mode there's no bandwidth being consumed.

The power isn't affecting the bandwidth but can affect the strength of the signal in some cases. When you are actively browsing the web and some background services that check for updates, etc. are active that is when the data is consumed.

If you press ctrl+alt+del on the keyboard then click Task Manager there is a Network tab that you can click on to see whether there is activity. You may also download a third party bandwidth monitor to assist you as well.

I'm unsure if you have actually attempted the upgrade tool, but if you have the WOW64 and the C:\Program Files and the C:\Program Files (x86) located in the Computer directory it's possible it will be redirected to function over the 64-bit OS and be fine.

It will require a little more in depth research and possibly some tweaking, but you may be able to pull it off.

Another choice would be to see if your system would be able to run Virtual PC with or without XP mode. But without knowing which OS version you are using, it's hard to suggest with any type of accuracy.

If you have "Boot Camp" on the Mac which means you can boot the Mac up in Windows mode/parallel then you can download and install the firmware updates as if you were on a Windows machine.

Otherwise, if I'm not mistaken, you would need to borrow a Windows machine to allow the upgrade/updates to the device.

Change the Security to WPA2/PSK AES when you make this change, also change the Security Key password and the Network Name at the same time, it may be that your adapter is not accepting the security that is set at the moment.

Reconnect to the new SSID broadcast name and if it's not showing, reset the device and try again.

Hope this helps.

The question is a little vague. Without the specifics, I can offer this, pay attention to the lights on the Hotspot,
1. If the WIFI light is Green, power down and back on giving it some time to boot up and become ready to connect.
2. Take battery cover off and hold down the WPS button on the side until the lights flash white then let go, this resets it, go into the preferred wireless networks and delete the old connections related to the Hotspot give it some time and then reconnect --This works for the password not accepted as well as other issues but is usually last resort.
This also works when the default setting is select to Not broadcast the SSID which can happen.
