Cell radio cannot be turned on

Phone indicates battery is too low, even when fully charged. Cell radio cannot be turned on even when plugged into AC outlet with charging adapter.

This appears to be a fairly common problem with this phone, as I've found several postings on various internet tech forums that were found via a Google search. Phone was sent in for repair of cell radio.

Syncing errors

I have been working to sync my Samsung SCHi760 with the Mobile Device Center but am getting an error with the desktop. My phone does not have a HEX # so I am unable to search for an answer within your site. Please help me so I can transfer all data to my new Samsung SCHi760 that I received today.

Battery life durations specified on our products are tested in our labs under multiple different conditions and the talk and standby times are a realistic average maximum dependent on customer usage variables.

Battery power consumption depends on a number of factors, such as network configuration, signal strength, operating temperature, features selected, frequency of calls, and voice, data, and other application usage patterns.

Some variables that may affect battery life are:

• Backlight settings set to always on or a long amount of time
• Ring tone settings set to higher volume settings
• Vibrate settings turned on
• Using Internet Services including Text Messaging
• Making and/or Receiving calls in, or simply standing by in, an analog service area
• If you tend to be in a "weak" coverage area where your signal strength meter shows only 1 to 2 bars
• Using non-SAMSUNG charging accessories can cause battery life and other issues, as well as void the manufacturer’s limited warranty.

If the battery is not holding a charge it may mean that it is not charging properly. Make certain that the charger cable is properly plugged in. It is also possible that the battery may be damaged. If you suspect that it may be, or should this issue continue to occur, please feel free to call us here at Samsung Technical Support at 1-888-987-4357.

Question

My i760 phone no longer displays the alarm "turnoff" options. So now every time I power it back on, the alarm goes off even when not set.

Even when my alarms are not set, when powering on the phone, I constantly get an alarm ringing that I can't turn off, because the display doesn't pop up anymore. After it rings many times and annoys everyone on the ariplane, it will finally stop - until the next time I power it off and back on again.

Question

SCH-I760 makes a phone call by itself to the last dialed number if headphone jack is inserted.

While music playing with windows media player, if I insert headphone jack or speaker jack, SCH-I760 makes a phone call by itself to the last dialed number from the call history. I can't do anything to prevent it. Help!
I can not connect a headphone or speaker because of this self error.

Most issues may be resolved with minimal troubleshooting. Once troubleshooting has been done to the point of actual failure, we can setup a repair on the product, should it be determined the problem cannot be resolved over the phone. We can repair the phone, if it is still under warranty and has not been physically damaged.

If it is deemed, after troubleshooting, that the handset requires service/repair, our Repair Administrators will create a Return Material Authorization (RMA#) for the device. Provided there is no physical damage to the phone and the failure is not due to any type of liquid damage, the phone will be repaired under warranty.

If the phone has experienced damage or is out of warranty by date (it was purchased more than one year ago) the standard charge will likely apply for the repairs to your phone. Charges start at $65.00 and can increase, depending upon the nature and severity of the issue. We are only able to arrange payment for these repairs through credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

The option that you can do is to contact your current service provider for them to give you their records about your handset. They can also trace the ESN number fo your phone.

How Do I Use My SCH-I760 As A Modem Or Transfer Data Between It And My Computer?

The SCH-i760 will connect as a modem via USB or Bluetooth, which will enable your PC to connect to the internet, (through the use of the modem selection).

Bluetooth Connection - The i760 does have Bluetooth 2.0 and supports DUN Profile.

To access this device as a modem requires the use of the VZAccess Manager that was included in the box and a Bluetooth Dongle, (not included), that has been properly installed and is active on your PC. It is important to note that different Bluetooth vendors require different drivers to operate different profiles. Please consult Verizon Wireless for support. This method of connectivity is unsupported by Samsung.

USB Connection - The handsets ships with ActiveSync 4.5, Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 (for Vista), VZAccess Manager as well as a USB data cable.

To access this device as a modem you will need to use the VZAccess Manager. Due to this you will need to contact Verizon Wireless for support. This method of connectivity is unsupported by Samsung.

The SCH-i760 can sync with your PC by connecting with ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center, and the USB cable provided in the box.

ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center must be installed and setup properly to connect to your PC. You will need to install the drivers for the handset that are provided in the box.

Regarding your concern, what we have for the phone is a software update for you set upgrade the windows mobile version to 6.1.

Problems with Mobile 6.1 snyc and windows 7 drievr for my phone

SCH i760. I need a driver which is recognized by Windows 7 in order to get the windows mobile 6.1 to consistently recognize and snyc my phone to outlook 2010. I have searched many places and can only find a driver set up for Windows Vista. Any direction you can provide would be appreciated.

Regarding about your concern, you can use the Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for 64 bit which you can download on www.microsoft.com for you to connect the SCH-I760 handset to your computer that has a Windows 7 OS. However, this software/driver is only compatible with MS Outlook 2003 and 2007.

Using Microsoft® ActiveSync®, the SCH-i760 handset synchronizes your Microsoft Outlook data (E-Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks) between your PC and the handset. The application is already installed on your SCH-i760 handset, but must be installed on your PC (using the CD included with your handset) before you can synchronize data.
Note: If your PC is running Windows Vista, your synchronization settings will be managed through the Windows Mobile Device Center. For instruction on downloading Windows Mobile Device Center visit the following site:

Install Active Sync on the PC
1.Place the CD in your PC's drive and wait for the Installation Wizard to appear on your monitor.
2.Select the Start Here tab.
3.Click the Install Microsoft® ActiveSync® 4.5 menu selection.
4.Click Install and follow the on-screen instructions.

Connect the Devices and Run Microsoft® ActiveSync®

There are no configurable options to access internet or browse Verizon website without WI-FI or if the internet service is not activated on the handset by your Service Provider.

Question

usb cable

I was told there is a usb to the i760 connector that will now charge the phone while connected to a computer's usb port.
Any info? part #'s etc?

Question

This is my 2nd sch-i760. My old one, when you text message a person you could view the entire conversation by scrolling.

This one, everytime I get a message from the same person it shows up as a seperate text message. I'm sure it's a setting I have to change but I can't find it anywhere?

The character limit per message in text messaging for SCH-I760 is160 and that could be the reason why the message shows up as a separate text message.

Hi jw760,

Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding your concern, you may obtain the ESN of your phone located at the back of your phone (battery compartment). It is also located around the box that came with the phone, at the top bar code labeled ESN.

Tip: You may also obtain it from calling your Service Provider.
