Having suffered through the fiasco caused by the software upgrade to the Fascinate, I will wait very patiently for the gingerbread u/g. I don't want a repeat of that mess. One of the few drawbacks to not having 2.3 is Skype. That can be circumvented by the use of Tango for video conferencing.
There are, sometimes, dire consequences for being out on the bleeding edge. I know that 2.3 has been around for awhile, but every phone model is different and if Samsung wants to test and retest before they release 2.3 for the Charge that is ok with me.
Trust me, you don't want a repeat of the Fascinate problem. Especially if you use your Charge for business and phone calls from clients are important to you.
Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, we do not have any information as to when or if the Droid Charge will be getting Gingerbread but please check back for updates or visit www.samsung.com for news.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this presents and thank you for your continued interest in Samsung products.

The latest version of Skype does support the Charge. Just not using the front camera. Try using VooVoo available in the Android Market. It works fine using the front camera.

My phone updated to 2.3.6 just this last weekend. It is fantastic. My phone responds much better. It is very snappy. A lot less hesitations. I am glad they sent the update because I was not going to buy another samsung phone based on their update record with the charge. Plus in this forum there has been no indications of when any updates would be out.
If you have Windows you use the Micro USB plug to connect to the computer. When you plug the phone in select "Mass Storage" mode. Then on the computer screen there should be something that pops up that is called "File Explorer" go on there and delete what you want. Be sure to unmount the phone (which comes up as a USB Drive) before you unplug it. Hope that helps. :-)
If you need additional assistance or information, please just write us again on this forum or you can also try calling Samsung Customer Support at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357 between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, CST. You have to use a micro-USB plug. That should do the trick.

Hi there! Thank you for your inquiry. We are unable to speculate when/if this software revision might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion.
Should this become available, it will be posted on our website in the Samsung Download Center or you will be informed by you Service Provider.
Please feel free to check back with us periodically for updates. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Technical Support
The 2.3 Gingerbread Update is available now for the Droid Charge. Go to Menu, Settings, About Phone, System Updates, and the download should be available. Contact Verizon if ti's not there.
I had a notification on my Charge and it updated automatically to Gingerbread.

Regarding your concern, unfortunately, there is no configurable option to do this on your device. Please take a look on the Android Market for a possible app that can help you with this or please contact your service provider.

while SamsungSupport9 was correct they did not fully explain their answer. the droid charge cannot be sync'd with a USB to your PC or laptop you can sync with My Exchange, over the air(OTA).
Initial Connection Set-up
Press the Home Key Press the Menu Key and tap on Settings Tap on Accounts and sync Tap on Add account, Corporate Enter in the email address, the password for the account, and tap Next Tip. Tap the box below password to enable sending email from this account as default is you so choose. This option will only appear if there will be more than one account.
The client will populate the fields based upon what has been entered on the previous screen. If the information appears correct, tap next. Important Information! In order to increase security, often Outlook Web Access (OWA) web portals are configured differently. If the connection fails to be established, check with your IT division for proper site information.
Note: Do not enter https directly in the Exchange server field if site is using SSL. Instead, tap "User secure connection" and input the reset of the address (i.e. mymail@mydomain.com).
Note: Please see the information in step six if you encounter an error.
Tap Next to leave settings as default and proceed Tap on Email frequency and tap on how often to push/pull data Tap on Amount to synchronize and tap on how many days worth of information to be pushed to the device. Tap on the other available options to either enable or disable. Tap on Next to continue. Input a name for the account and the name you would like transmitted on outgoing message, tap Done when complete.

To furthur reiterate my previous answer. Ultimately, whether or not the device will work overseas is dependent upon which countries you are going to, what networks they support, and whether or not your carrier supports service in that country. Specifically, these are the networks that your Samsung Model SCH-I510 Droid Charge Smartphone supports: LTE 700, CDMA 800/1900. Please call your carrier for more information in regards to plans and services for overseas use with this model.
When WIFI is turned on, it seems my battery does not even last 24 hours. Is this normal. Do I need to turn off wifi to get the longer time suggested in idle time. Any suggestions in general about extending battery life, Aside from other features it was the battey life in use that made me select Samsung. I am very happry with the SAMSUNG CHARGE except for the shorter than expected life when not in use though wifi is on.

Hi JimSr,
Thanks for writing!
Battery life durations specified on our products are tested in our labs under multiple different conditions and the talk and standby times are a realistic average maximum dependent on customer usage variables.
Battery power consumption depends on a number of factors, such as network configuration, signal strength, operating temperature, features selected, frequency of calls, and voice, data, and other application usage patterns. Some variables that may affect battery life are:
• Backlight settings set to always on or a long amount of time. • Ring tone settings set to higher volume settings. • Vibrate settings turned on. • Using Internet Services including Text Messaging. • Making and/or Receiving calls in, or simply standing by in, ananalog service area. • If you tend to be in a "weak" coverage area where your signal strength meter shows only 1 to 2 bars. • Using non-SAMSUNG charging accessories can cause battery life and other issues, as well as void the manufacturer’s limited warranty.
If symptoms persists, please contact our Samsung Customer Support by phone at our toll free number 1-888-987-4357, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Central Standard Time.

A recent list was published from Samsung (Italy) stating what Samsung Devices would be getting upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Samsung Droid Charge was not on that list. It's my understanding though that the list published was for Samsung (Italy) devices and shows no future plans for Samsung (USA) devices. My question is, will the Droid Charge be getting upgraded to Android 4.0 in the future? The HTC Thunderbolt came out before the Droid Charge and it got updated to Android 2.3, the LG Revolution came out AFTER the Droid Charge and now it's been updated to Android 2.3. So is there going to be an update to 2.3 for the Droid Charge as well?

Yes. I have been told yes...but my theory is maybe they decided to surpass the 2.3 update to give us the Honeycomb update perhaps. Either that or they are just slow and haven't come out with it yet.

You can only use the front camera if your phone has Gingerbread V2.3 Android OS on it. If it has Foyo V2.2 Android on it, Skype won't recognize the front camera. However, the app: Voovoo will.......
There no plans that to update the OS according to Verizon..........
The Samsung Fascinate doesn't have a front facing camera for video calling. There is only a proximity sensor/ambient light sensor on the upper portion of the phone.

The Android phones are known for not syncing emails from non-Google accounts very well. You either have to re-install the email account or you could delete them off the phone completely and download the apps specifically for your email provider...like Yahoo has a Yahoo Mail App and Windows Live has a Live Mail app.
