If you want to download pictures to your SCH-i500 (Fascinate) handset, you may try to download them from Android Marketplace. On your phone, once you click on the application tab, there is an icon for Market that would let you connect to the Android Marketplace. After files are being downloaded, it will automatically save on the handset and you will see them under Download folder. From the Home Screen, touch Applications, Tap My Files and scroll down then Select Download.

If you would like to check other application that will be compatible with the specification on the phone, then you may visit this website: www.android.com/market

On the search item, just enter the keyword of an application that you would like to find. Check the details of that application for you to verify it that will suit your specification.

However, if you’re trying to download photos between your phone and your computer, then you can use the mass storage method by using a USB data cable and a memory card inserted on the device. Then follow the steps below.

STEPS:

> Ensure that the Memory Card is properly inserted into the device

> Ensure that the USB mode is set on Mass Storage on the phone:

 Select Menu
 Settings
 Select Applications
 Select USB settings
 Select Mass storage even if already selected
 Press Home key to return to the home screen

NOTE: FOR Windows Vista/XP/7 OPERATING SYSTEM

>Make sure that USB debugging is unchecked:

• Select Menu
• Applications
• Select Settings
• Development
• Uncheck all three options (USB debugging, Allow mock location, Stay Awake)

NOTE: FOR MAC COMPUTER

>Make sure that USB debugging is checked:

• Select Menu
• Applications
• Select Settings
• Development
• Check USB debugging and uncheck other options (Allow mock location and Stay Awake)

*Connect the USB data cable to the device and a laptop or PC
* After the USB icon appears in the Notification Drawer, pull it down
* Select USB Connected
* Select Mount

> On the PC, navigate to the Removable Disk assigned to the device. This can be done through the automatic pop up screen or ‘My Computer.
> Drag and drop (copy and paste) files from other locations of your PC to this folder

If these steps won’t work, try to check this stuff….

o Try using a different USB port
o Restart the PC and soft reset the phone
o Make sure that the USB cable is Samsung genuine accessory
o Try using a different USB cable
o Try to check the removable storage through the "My Computer"

Question

Why do some letters show up as dots on the right hand side of the music list?

When I first open the music player I see all the letters A-Z but the second I play a song and hit the Back button, a little less than half of the letters disappear. I have songs, albums, and artists beginning with the missing letters but can't seem to get them to stay.

Thank you for your inquiry. For this type of phone, syncing is over the air via your Gmail account. You need to create a Gmail account on the computer and set up your Gmail account on the phone. You also need to import/export your outlook to your Gmail account. Once it has already been set up, on your phone, go to settings, accounts and sync, tap on your Gmail account. Make sure that the Sync Calendar, Sync contacts, Sync Gmail are all checked. From there your Gmail will automatically sync to your phone.

Question

Black screen on phone

Almost everyday I get a black screen on the phone. The buttons on the bottom light up and it makes sound when I get a text or email but I cant view the screen. I will take out the batter and retry several times before it starts working again. But today no matter what I do the screen wont come back on. PLEASE HELP!!

Hi Pippin1976-

Thank you for your inquiry. For you to connect the phone to the PC and download pictures, it would require you to have the memory card inside the phone and a data cable that is part of your standard box contents. Once you already have the requirements, and then do the following steps:

Select Menu.
Select Settings.
Select Applications.
Select USB settings.
Choose Development
Make sure that USB Debugging, Stay Awake and Allow mock locations are all unchecked.
Connect the USB cable to the device.
Connect the opposite end of the USB cable to the computer.
Bring down the Notification Bar, and select USB Connected.
Select Mount

Check on the computer screen if it will recognize the device and Removable Disk will pop up on the screen. Select open folder to view files. Choose Image/Graphic folder, drag and drop/copy and paste the file from the source folder going to the destination folder.

Why is one ear plug significantly shorter than the other?

I am one who utilizes the ear buds with my phone, as I noticed my new buds, one is significantly shorter than the other, is this done on purpose or did I get a bad set? They do play well, just think it's weird being offset like that.

Question

When will gingerbread update be available for the i500?

I do netflix and my husband has netflix already on his Motorola and i don't. Also when i first got the phone i was able to send and receive yahoo mail. I delete my yahoo account and went to relogin in and it keeps saying that my username and password are not correct when they are. I verify my user name and password to the point that i change the password to make sure it wasn't me. i even called Verizon tech support and they cant help me?

Hi marfinn2!

Thanks for your question! If you are going to transfer media files from your Samsung Fascinate™ Android Smartphone (SCH-I500) to your laptop, you may do mass storage so you could transfer them to the laptop. For you to connect the phone to the laptop, it would require you to have the memory card inside the phone and a data cable that is part of your standard box contents, once you already have the requirements, and then do the following:

If the microSD memory card came from another phone and you could not saved any files on it. Try to format the microSD memory card using your phone so that the phone will recognize the microSD memory card inserted in it.

To format a memory card:
1. Select the Applications Tab.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select SD Card & Phone Storage.
4. Select Unmount SD Card.
5. Select Format SD Card.
6. Select Tap Format SD Card.
7. Choose Erase Everything.
When the format process is complete, the 'Format SD Card' option will grey out.

Note: Formatting the microSD memory card will delete all information saved on your memory card. I will suggest backing up first your files saved on the microSD memory card.

Mass Storage Settings
1. Select Menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select USB Settings
4. Check the box besides Mass Storage.
5. Press the Home Key to return to the home screen.

Tip: Make sure that the Bluetooth is deactivated on the phone.

Connecting to the laptop:
1. Ensure that a microSD memory card with content is loaded into the device's memory card slot.
2. Connect one end of the supported data cable into the device's USB port and the other end into an available USB port on the laptop.
3. "USB Connected" will show briefly in the Notification Bar followed by a USB icon.
4. Tap and hold the Notification Bar and pull it down by sliding your finger down the screen.
5. Tap on USB Connected and then select Mount.
6. If prompted on the PC, select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" from the Removable Disk pop-up.
7. If not prompted as in step 6, on the PC open My Computer and select the Removable Disk drive letter that was assigned to the device.

Note: It is now possible to drag and drop (copy & paste) music files between the device and the PC. It is recommended that separate folders for different media types be created on the memory card for better organization.

If the notification does not show up on the phone or on the laptop, try to turn off you phone or connect the USB cable to another USB port on your laptop.

Why do the pictures I use from the gallery for wallpaper come out so big?

When I crop the pictures they come out to big, when I don't crop them they come out too big. Why?

Hi Deeee!

Thanks for your question! Pertaining to your query, this is an option for the picture to fit on the mobile screen since the resolution of the phone is high. It will be properly suited and incorporated on the device.

You can choose a photo with a resolution that will accomodate the size that you wanted. But with regard to using a wallpaper coming from your gallery, the phone will always ask you to crop the photo before you could save it as a wallpaper.

Question

How do I find the text message product on my phone?

Got the phone a couple days ago. Need a manual but the Samsung site can't seem to download it to me. Need to know how to do a text message. Also I seem to have put two versions of a calendar onto my home page - how can I delete one of them?

Creating and Sending Messages:

1. From the Home screen, touch Messaging ➔ New message.
2. Tap the To field and enter the recipient’s name, phone number or email address.

Note: As you enter a name, phone number or email address, matching contacts appear on the screen. Touch a contact to add it to the list, or continue entering characters.

Tip: If you are creating a message with the phone in portrait mode, touch Recent to choose a recent recipient, Contacts to select contacts, or Group to choose a group for the To list.

3. Touch the Type to compose field, or touch Next, and compose your message. While composing a message, touch Menu for these options:
• Add subject: Add a subject field to the message and enter a
subject. (This option also converts the message to MMS.
• Attach: Add content to the message to convert it to MMS.
– Pictures: Add a picture.
– Capture picture: Take a new picture.
– Videos: Add a video.
– Capture video: Record a new video.
– Audio: Add a sound clip.
– Record audio: Create a new audio clip.
– Slideshow: Add a slideshow of pictures to this message.
• Add text: Select text from Contacts, Calendar, or Memo to add to
the message.
• Insert smiley: Add a text emoticon to the message.
• Cancel: Discard the message.
4. Touch SEND to send the message.

To eliminate the Google calendar, follow these steps :

From the phone's Homescreen > tap on Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync > Tap on the Google account > then uncheck Sync calendar

Regarding your concern, there is no need to install any software on the computer for you to connect the handset with your PC. All you need to have is a memory card inside the handset and a data cable then set the phone to mass storage.

To connect the phone to the computer, please follow the steps below:
Pull out and up the memory card slot cover
Insert the formatted microSD card into the memory card slot
Connect the USB data cable to both the handset and the USB port on the PC
If Select USB Mode appears on the display press the clear key to return to the standby screen OR if the MTP Connect to the PC... appears on the display, press OK then with Yes highlighted press OK to disconnect from the PC
From the standby screen, press OK for Menu
Select Settings & Tools
Select Tools
Select USB Mass Storage
From the PC, double click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop
Double click on the newly created drive letter (which may appear as an icon or text, depending on your View settings)
Double click on the folder to view the contents
Copy and paste or drag n drop the files to/from the destination on the PC
From the handset, press OK for Disconnect
With Yes highlighted, press OK then remove the USB data cable from both the handset and PC

Question

GPS Accuracy

Using the preinstalled Bing application that came with the phone, my GPS location is not very accurate. I also have the Samsung Omnia II and have never had this problem. Is there going to be a fix for this?

I had the same problem, I fixed it by taking the phone back and getting a Droid X. Now my GPS works great!
