You can easily copy your pictures from the internal memory to your external memory card by using the 'copy to card' feature. First insert a Micro SD card into your camera, press the play back button to view previously taken pictures, and then press the menu button. After the menu appears tap the page down button to page 2, select copy to card, and then tap Yes. Your pictures are then transferred from your internal memory to your external memory card.

The firmware does not need to be installed on your camera, however if you want to install the firmware you will need an external micro SD card in order to do so.
