In Shooting or Playback Mode, press MENU. Navigate down to Settings and select Format. Make sure any inserted memory cards have been ejected, otherwise it will delete all files on external memory as well. You can read more about this and other features on pages 97-102 of your product manual.

Question

playing .avi files

How can I get videos that I recorded on a model ST65 to play on my new ST66? When I move the microSD card from the old camera to the new one, it says "File Error" on the video files. Pictures are displayed just fine.

Based on my research, both models supports .avi (mjpeg) file format so it should play just fine. Can you double-check if what you see is a "File Error" notification. Because it might be something else.

Setting MACRO focus?

I am trying to take close-up shots of jewelry. I do not know what settings to use on any of the Menu, Mode, etc... I'm really getting frustrated. Also when I press MENU - all that displays on the right side of the camera is PHOTO SIZE???

The only way I can get a user's manual is to download it from my computer and print it off. There are 132 pages.

Based on our research, there are 5 camera models that fall under the ST66 designation. This is usually indicative of a different manufacture period or a model that may have been produced for sale by a particular vendor. We recommend you look on the bottom of the camera for the full model number, open the following link and select the model that matches the one on your camera.

Once you've selected your model, you will see the list of available accessories and you should see the option to purchase both the service manual and a product manual. The product manual is merely a printout of the PDF and looks to be $13, so the choice is yours as to whether you'd like to print out the manual yourself or purchase a copy.

• Internal memory: Approximately 70 MB
• External memory (Optional):
microSD card (1–2 GB guaranteed),
microSDHC card (up to 8 GB guaranteed)
Internal memory capacity may not match these specifications.

Your camera has approximately 70 megabytes of internal storage, which is not a lot compared to the how much storage is available should you insert a memory card. The camera supports 1–2 gigabytes with a microSD card and up to 8 gigabytes with a microSDHC card.

Weak flash

The flash on my ST66 seems very weak. It only lights up a subject out to about 5 feet. Everything further than that is pitch black. Is this normal? I am using the smart auto mode.

According to the user manual, in Smart Auto mode, your camera automatically chooses the appropriate camera settings based on the type of scene it detects. The Smart
Auto mode is helpful if you are not familiar with the camera settings for various scenes. For more info on the various modes your camera offers, please refer to pages 33-47 of the following PDF manual.
