Question

how do you tilt the screen?

The specs on this monitor say it will tilt. I can't seem to adjust the tilt; the screen is tilted down and I can't get it to go up. I've read some customer reviews that complain that the screen will not tilt. Does this monitor tilt or not? If so, how much pressure must one apply to get it to move? Is it possible that I have assembled the stand wrong?

If assembled correctly, the tilt mechanism is attached to the back of the monitor, at the top of the neck that comes up from the base. I always place one hand on the base, with my fingers wrapped around the neck that comes up out, to firmly hold the base to the desk. Then with just moderate pressure, push on the top/front of the monitor and it should tilt up for u. It actually has a high degree of adjustment to the tilt. Just don't be afraid of applying too much pressure, and if it is starting to feel like an extreme amount and it still has tilted, then I would recommend taking the base off to see if there is a problem with the tilt mechanism.

Question

Trouble with the new monitor not filling entire screen

I recently bought a Samsung LED SA350 22 inch monitor for my desktop computer. When I open some programs, the screen shrinks and does not take up the full size. Once the program is open, I have to unplug the monitor and replug it and it then fills the entire screen. I have noticed that it does with with my Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo x2 program mainly but also with some websites. Wondering if you have any ideas?????

Make sure you have the most recent drivers for your monitor, as there may be a solution for this problem in the updated drivers. Here is a link to the drivers webpage for this monitor: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/LS22A350HS/ZA

It is pretty much impossible for this to be caused by a monitor. You need to make sure you have aero effects enabled for this to work properly. Go to Control Panel> Ease of Use> make the mouse easier to use>

make sure the box that says "prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen" is not checked.

This may be because of the video card that you are using. There may be a settings application for your video card that is installed on the computer, such as NVidia Settings or ATI Catalyst Control Center. If this is the case, then you would have to adjust the screen position through this application rather than through Magic Tune or the screen menu.

Question

Monitor going dark when dark images are displayed?

I looked through the manual and the settings and can't seem to find a reason why this is happening, but the monitor will darken depending on what is on my screen. If I'm for instance, watching a video and the screen goes black in the video, everything else on my screen will go either very dark or black. This is very inconvenient if I'm watching a subtitled video in full screen mode. Is there a way to stop this from happening? The screencap I included isn't it happening, but it should give the gist of what it's doing. Top is normal, bottom is when I load a dark image that takes up most the screen.

This is most likely because the screen settings within the MagicTune program is set to Dynamic Contrast. To fix this you must open the MagicTune program and click on the Picture tab along the top. Once in the Picture tab, click on Samsung MagicBright (on the left side). That should load into a new screen with different screen presets. Dynamic Contrast is most likely selected. This is probably where your problem lies. I usually keep mine set on Standard, unless I am playing a game or watching a movie, and then I change it accordingly. If you don't like any of the presets, then you can always just adjust the brightness and contrast settings, etc., to your liking.

Does it shake even in your computers bios? if it does it in the bios then you have a problem with you monitor. If it doesnt do it in your bios then make sure you change the screen resolution of your computer to the resolution supported by your monitor. If you give me the monitor Model I can tell you what you should set your resolution to.

It depends on how you are connecting it to your computer. If you are using an HDMI cable then you are using a digital connection. If you are using a DVI or VGA cable then it is analog. You can install both the analog and digital drivers though, just in case you ever plan on changing the connection cabe, as HDMI is better, picture quality wise, than is DVI or VGA. I would suggest downloading the most recent drivers from Samsung.com and installing those.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. Your monitor is completely capable of using that setup. It will require push the source button on the front of the monitor, but that is all. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

You need to make sure your video card will support multiscreen. Monitors aren't the part of the computer that control multiscreen, they just display what the computer gives to them. You could upgrade the video card to a multiscreen supported card or you could buy another video card if your computer has the capabilities to have multiple. My guess is that your current card doesn't support 2 monitors and you will have to buy a new card because most computers don't support 2 video cards physically.

The method I used was to increase the webpage zoom in the setting menu of the web browser. I use Google Chrome as my browser, and have found that setting the zoom to 144% works well for fitting web pages to the screen size. For Internet Explorer I have it set to 150%. Adjusting the zoom also helps for reading text on web pages as well, as it makes it bigger too.

I would imagine that this is due to the fact that HDMI cables are designed for both audio and video transmission, so when the HDMI cable is connected to your laptop, it automatically diverts the sound output to the HDMI port. To fix this you can probably change the audio output through either and audio program such as Realtek Audio Manager, if your laptop has such a program. If this is not an option, then go to the Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound, then under the Playback tab choose your output device.
