The RS275 does have an ICE OFF setting on the control panel, which we would recommend using if the water is turned off. If ICE OFF is not selected, then the pump for the icemaker may make some noise intermittently as it attempts to draw water for the ice.

Thanks for the question!

Samsung does not make any side-by-side refrigerators without the ice and water in the door, but we do make both bottom freezers and French Doors without that feature. If you are open to such styles, you may want to consider the RF266xxxx or RF263xxxx, both of which are 35-3/4" wide. We also have a variety of 33" wide models to choose from without ice and water in the door. Thanks for your interest in Samsung!

The piece you're describing holds the cord in place when the refrigerator is being transported or stored. It comes in very handy in these instances, so I would not suggest removing it.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with the water dispenser on your RS275ACRS. There are several factors that could effect the water dispenser's operation; please check the following:
- Is the supplied water pressure at the recommended 20-125 psi?
- Is the water valve turned on all the way and the water line free of bends or kinks that could obstruct the flow?
- Is the water filter cartridge installed correctly, with the lock indicator marks aligned?
- Is Child Lock engaged? If so, deactivate it by pressing the Child Lock button for 3 seconds.
- Are the fridge and freezer set to the recommended 38°F and -2°F, respectively? If the temperatures are set too low, the water line could freeze.
- Is the water line connection located under the front leg cover set up properly - see page 23 of the User Manual for instructions.
- If the problem is not yet resolved, try replacing the filter cartridge and bleeding air from the lines by pressing the lever for an extended period. If you recently replaced the filter, it's possible that air in the lines is what's causing the problem.

After checking all of the above, if water still won't dispense, your refrigerator may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

The water filter in your RS275 can last for up to 6 months based on typical usage, though may need to be replaced sooner in homes with higher-than-average usage. The other factor that effects the filter's life-span is the amount of impurities in the water. If your filters are consistently clogging after only two months, I would suggest contacting a plumber for assistance determining the purity of your water and finding a solution, such as considering adding a household filtration system.

Question

Icemaker problem

Our Samsung refrigerator is 1 year old and we are having a problem with the icemaker. We would like to know what would cause the icemaker to stop producing ice and the water dispenser to produce warm water? This problem just occurred today. The water has not seemed as cold for a while.

There are several factors that can effect the ability of an icemaker to produce ice, including water supply, freezer and refrigerator temperatures, and control panel functions. Please check the following to try to resolve the issue:
- Is the water connected, the valve turned on and hoses unkinked and free of obstruction?
- Is your home's water pressure between 20~125 psi? Under normal conditions, a 5.75 oz. glass can be filled in about 10 seconds.
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is the freezer temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F.
- Is the icemaker turned on? Make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the display.
- Is the feeler arm under the icemaker stuck in the "up" position, which would signal to the icemaker that the bucket is full and to stop making ice.
- Is the control panel locked, preventing the dispenser from operating on some models?
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place?
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water from the dispenser since installing or replacing the filter?
- Did you press the Test button on the icemaker to reset it?

If none of the above suggestions helps to resolve the issue, and the ice tray does not fill with water, try removing the water filter temporarily and press the test button on the icemaker again. If the tray fills without a filter installed, then the cartridge is likely clogged or partially clogged and should be replaced. The filter should be replaced about every 6 months based on average usage, but it could become clogged sooner if there are a lot of impurities in the water supply.

Regarding the water temperature, the water from the dispenser should be cool, but not ice cold. If the water is not cool, you may have used up the water in the refrigerator's reservoir, which holds about two liters of water. I would suggest waiting 24 hours before dispensing water. If it still isn't cold, then your refrigerator may require service.

If, after checking each of the above suggestions, the icemaker and water dispenser do not appear to be functioning properly , please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

If you've recently replaced the water filter in your RS275ACRS, the icemaker is turned on but not producing ice, please try bleeding air from the lines by dispensing up to 6 gallons of water then pressing the Test button on the side of the icemaker which should cause the tray to rotate then fill with water. If the tray does not fill with water, please check the following:
- Is the water valve turned on and hoses unkinked and free of obstruction?
- Is your home's water pressure between 20~125 psi? Under normal conditions, a 5.75 oz. glass can be filled in about 10 seconds.
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is the feeler arm under the icemaker stuck in the "up" position, which would signal to the icemaker that the bucket is full and to stop making ice.
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place?

If the tray fills with water but ice does not harvest or dispense, make sure the freezer is set to -2°F or colder and the Child Lock is not activated, which prevents the dispenser from functioning on most models. If, after checking each of these suggestions, the icemaker still isn't functioning properly, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

The RS275ACRS is designed to produce approximately 100 cubes of ice per day under ideal conditions. Production may vary depending on freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other factors, so if yours is making less than this, I would suggest checking the following:
- The recommended temperatures for the refrigerator and freezer compartments are 38°F and -2°F, respectively. If the freezer temperature is set higher than this, it could effect ice production. If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is something pressing against the lever that detects when the ice bin is full? The icemaker will not produce ice if it detects a full bin.
- Have you tried pressing the Test button on the side of the icemaker to reset it?
- Have you replaced your water filter recently? A clogged or partially clogged filter can slow water flow and effect ice production. After replacing the filter, be sure to dispense up to 6 gallons of water to bleed air from the lines.
- Is your home's water pressure sufficient? In order for the ice maker to operate properly, water pressure of 20~125 psi is required. Under normal conditions, a 6 oz glass can be filled in about 10 seconds. If the Refrigerator is installed in an area with low water pressure (below 20psi), you may be able to install a booster pump to compensate for the low pressure.
- The Power Freeze feature can help increase ice production by running the compressor for an extended period of time.

I hope these suggestions help to increase your ice production.

Question

Ice maker feeler arm stuck in the up (horizontal) position, not making ice

Is there a way to unstick the feeler arm? It resists being pulled down and I don't want to force it for fear of breaking it. The ice tray is empty. The refrigerator and freezer temps are set at the Samsung recommended temps. The ice maker worked very well until recently. Any suggestions would be welcome.
