Question

Required spacing on the back and sides

I read in the manual that a minimum of 2" is required on either side of the fridge, and also 2" on the back. This seems to be a very large gap, and if this is really the case, won't fit into my space. Is the 2" really required?
There are some other models, such as the counter depth RSG257, only requiring 1/4" inch on either side.

The clearance recommendations given are intended to maximize the performance and efficiency of the cooling system, and I cannot advise installation of our refrigerators based on specifications other than those provided by Samsung's engineers. You're correct that the clearance recommendations do vary somewhat from one model to another.

answer 2
Ideally you would want that much clearance on all sides-- however, that is realistically impractical for most applications. The intent of the clearance is to allow for the circulation of air from beneath, up, through and out of the compressor assembly so that it doesn't overheat. To ensure that you have that flow of air- at a minimum-- you need to allow for 2" behind and 4-8" above the the refrigerator (the more the better).

Please make the sure the ice bucket is inserted correctly on the door and that you're pressing the correct lever fully and consistently. Pressing and releasing the dispenser in spurts would cause the auger to start and stop. If you're pressing the lever consistently and the auger is not working properly, it may require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

The letters "OF" on the display of your RS267TDRS indicate the Cooling Off mode has been activated. To cancel this mode, press the Lighting and Freezer buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until a chime sounds and a numeric reading returns to the display, allowing you to set the desired temperature. The compressor should turn on in about 5 minutes and begin producing cold air.

The unit has somehow entered into the a cooling cycle--which is primary for use when sitting on a showroom floor -- the refrigerator is not functioning when in the cooling mode or displays "OF"--short for OFF. Your freezer/refrigerator temps will begin to warm if the unit stays in the mode for very long. To change back to refrigeration mode depress and hold the freezer selection (lower left of panel) for at least 5 seconds or until you hear a beep- at which point the "OF" will disappear to black and the unit has now returned to normal operation. If you appliance was in the OF mode for very long, you'll want to use the power cooling cycle for both sides to get the temps back down (see manual for how to initiate the power cool mode).

The CoolSelect Zone Drawer in the RS267TDRS has three settings: Quick Cool, Thaw, and Cool Mode. Quick Cool is ideal for chilling beverages in a relatively short time period; Thaw Mode defrosts meat or poultry safely and efficiently; and Cool Mode mirrors the setting of the rest of the refrigerator.

Therefore, the warmest temperature that can be set in the CoolSelect Zone Drawer is 46°F, the same as the refrigerator.

Question

interior lights

I recently purchased model RD267TDRS. This model has the coolselect zone drawer. When you open the door the two lights directly over the drawer do not work as they have no bulbs installed. Is this because those lights would interfere with the function of the cool select drawer??? Also is the food placed in the drawer or on the top of the drawer which is a shelf? Thanks to someone........

Thank you for the question. The "Tower" LED lighting in the RS267TDRS was designed to illuminate the interior of the refrigerator without the use of the side lights above the Cool Select Zone Drawer. Food placed inside the drawer will be cooled based on the setting selected for the drawer. Food placed on the shelf above the drawer will be cooled based on the setting of the refrigerator compartment.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. There are several factors that can effect the refrigerator's ability to cool and to retain cold air. To start with:
1. Check your power supply by plugging in another appliance like a clock or radio to be sure it's providing enough power.
2. Check your controls: is the "cooling off mode" activated? This would be evident by the letters "OF" showing on the display instead of a numeric temperature. This mode can be deactivated to turn the cooling system on by pressing the "Lighting" and "Freezer" buttons simultaneously for at least 3 seconds until a chime sounds and the display changes from "OF" to numerals. The compressor should turn on and start to cool the refrigerator and freezer.
3. Check the seal on the refrigerator and freezer doors for cracks or leaks by inserting a dollar bill between the door and the refrigerator cabinet, then closing the door. If the bill pulls out with no resistance, your doors may be out of alignment or you may need a new gasket.
4. Check if the refrigerator is level by placing a carpenter's level on the shelf inside the refrigerator. Adjust the front leveling legs by inserting a flathead screwdriver into the grooves on the legs and turning. Please refer to the user manual for more information on making adjustments to the doors.
5. If the refrigerator compartment is cooling but the freezer is not, or vice versa, your RS267 will require service.

If these suggestions do not resolve the issue for you, or if suggestion #5 above indicates you do need service, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further.

Thanks for the question. The icemaker in the RS267 has a "feeler arm" that detects when the bucket is full, automatically turning off the icemaker until ice is dispensed and the level in the bucket goes down.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If the lights are not working and the door open alarm is beeping, it is likely that the wiring harness under the hinge covers of the RS267TDRS doors are not connected properly. This is not unusual after installation, especially when the doors are removed for delivery. Please refer to pages 15-16 of the User Manual which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website for your convenience.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. It is likely that your RS267TDRS will require service if it is indicating a temperature of -24°F for the freezer, particularly since the lowest available temperature at which you can set the freezer should be -14°F. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Please check the following to help determine why your RS267TDRS is not making ice:
- Is the temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F. It can take as much as 24 hours for the freezer to reach the set temperature after being turned on for the first time. The icemaker can't produce ice until the freezer has reached it's set temperature.
- Is the icemaker turned off? The icemaker can be turned on or off by pressing the Ice Type button on the control panel for at least 3 seconds.
- Is the water connected, the valve turned on and hoses unkinked and free of obstruction?
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place?
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 6 gallons of water from the dispenser?
- Did you press the Test/Reset button on the icemaker?

If, after checking each of these suggestions, the icemaker still isn't functioning properly, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

The letters "OF" displayed on the control panel of your RS267TDRS is an indication that it is in "cooling off" mode. When in this mode, the refrigerator may seem like it's working but it does not make cool air. To cancel, press the Lighting and Freezer buttons at the same time for 3 seconds until you hear a chime sound. You should then be able to set the temperature and the refrigerator and freezer will begin cooling.

Question

Front controls / water & ice dispenser operation

I have found that some times it is difficult to switch from water to ice dispensing mode is this normal? even to activate/deactivate the child lock is difficult. The control panel does not have regular buttons, for this particular fridge you have to only touch the area where the word "water" or "ice" or "energy saver" is written. Thanks!
