Thank you for the question. It is not unusual for the digital temperature on the display to vary by up to 4 degrees compared to the actual temperature in the refrigerator or freezer, and it is very difficult to get an accurate temperature reading inside the compartments because:
- Hot air rises, and cold air falls. This can effect the shelf temperatures.
- Opening the door to read the thermometer allows cold air to escape, and warm air to enter causing an innaccurate temperature reading.
- Refrigeration thermometers are calibrated differently than regular household thermometers.
That said, if there is a significant difference in the temperature readings inside your refrigerator or freezer compared to the display (greater than + or - 4°F) - which in your case there appears to be - your refrigerator may require service.
