Thank you for contacting Samsung.

When you initially installed the water filter, do you remember if you held down the WATER button for 3 seconds until it turned blue to activate the water filter quality indicator? The filter indicator will be blue when you initially insert the water filter, it will be purple after 5 months of use and it be red after 6 months of use. When it turns red, it's time to change the filter.

Question

What does a Red filter indicator mean?

Does it mean that the filter will stop filtering? Or it is just an indicator to change the filter because it has been 6 months or 300 gallons of water has been filtered? Can I just reset the indicator without getting a new filter because I know that I have not consumed 300 gallons of water? It has been 6 months since installation.

In order to reset the filter indicator light, press the Ice Type button and Child Lock button simultaneously for 3 seconds and the water indicator light should turn green. Make to only hold them for 3 seconds. If you press them for 5 seconds, the reset function ceases.

When it comes time to replace your filter, you can purchase one via the link below:

Try turning the temp up or down which ever the case maybe so that the unit isn't quite as cold as it is normally so that parts like a flap door will open and not be frozen. Make sure there are no frozen cubes in the tray. Once the temp is warm enough so as to not freeze everything the unit should work just fine. Hope this helps!

Question

Strange noise when drawing water

When the fridge draws water for making ice or dispensing water, there is a loud noise while the water is being drawn - much louder than when the fridge was first delivered. This began after replacing the water filter. I reinstalled the filter which fixed the problem temporarily and the noise is now back.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We conferred with our resident home appliance expert and he recommended you make sure the water supply line to the refrigerator is fully open. He also recommended you try removing the water filter to see if the noise goes away. He indicated that there is also a possibility that the water valve is going bad as well. If this is the case, you will need to file a service request.

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/request

If the product is out of warranty, you have the option of ordering a replacement water valve via the link below and installing it yourself, if that's something you feel comfortable doing.

We don't anticipate that the water dispenser would break from excessive use, as long as said use is normal and not forceful. Question

Why is water line to ice maker freezing?

Unit is less than a month old. Made 3 or 4 trays of ice then quit. 3 service calls-water valve replaced, circuit board replaced, tech finally determined water line freezing. Cleared line. Ice maker made three more trays of ice then froze again. Freezer is set at "0" degrees. Tech says only fix is a whole new door. I'm thinking I want a whole refrigerator replacement. What are my options?

Thanks for the question. It isn't unusual for the refrigerator or freezer to take time to reach a new temperature after it's been changed. However, the lowest setting for the freezer should be -14°F, so if it starts showing a temperature of -25°F again, I would suggest contacting the support team for help determining whether service is necessary. To do so, submit your contact information through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

Ice maker stopped producing ice in first two days

Our new fridge was delivered Saturday. It started producing ice within the first 8 hours. It produced approximately 15 cubes and then stopped making ice. After 24 hours we changed the temp to 0F based on another post that said 0F kept the ice maker water line from freezing. Waited a day. Nothing. Turned off the eco mode. Waited a day. Nothing. Pressed the ice maker reset button, heard one set of beeps. A couple minutes later another set of beeps. At no point did I hear the water fill the tray. The water filling is fairly loud based on what I heard on the first day. It has been more than 24 hours after the reset and still no ice. The water is working, and we've been using the in-door water... just no ice being produced. What now?

answer 1
I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your icemaker. Setting the temperature display to "OF" means you're activating the demo, or "cooling off", mode, which deactivates the compressor. Doing this would prevent the refrigerator and freezer from cooling so is not the right thing to do if you're trying to get the icemaker to work. This mode is usually used for store display purposes and is not intended for in-home use.

If there is air in the water lines or if the water filter is partially clogged, it's possible that the water dispenser can work but the icemaker doesn't get the water it needs. Similarly, if the tray fills with water but the freezer isn't cold enough, it won't be able to produce ice. Please check the following troubleshooting tips:
- Is your home's water pressure between 20~125 psi? Under normal conditions, a 5.75 oz. glass can be filled in about 10 seconds.
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is the freezer temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F.
- Is the icemaker turned on? Make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the display.
- Is the feeler arm under the icemaker stuck in the "up" position, which would signal to the icemaker that the bucket is full and to stop making ice.
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place?
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water from the dispenser since installing or replacing the filter?

If none of the above suggestions helps to resolve the issue, and the ice tray does not fill with water, try removing the water filter temporarily and press the test button on the icemaker again. If the tray fills without a filter installed, then the cartridge is likely clogged or partially clogged and should be replaced. The filter should be replaced about every 6 months based on average usage, but it could become clogged sooner if there are a lot of impurities in the water supply.

If, after checking each of these suggestions, the icemaker still isn't functioning properly, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.
