I’m sorry to hear your RS261MDWP is not dispensing ice. The lever on the dispenser has a new “two stage” design which is detailed in the FAQ section which you can visit through this link: http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa...
In order to dispense ice, you must first press the Ice Type button on the control panel until the desired ice type icon light is illuminated, then push the glass against the dispenser lever all the way back to the second detent.

If you are still having issues, please make sure the icemaker has not been turned off. To activate/deactivate the icemaker, press and hold the Ice Type button for 3 seconds, making sure the light above the "Ice Off" icon is not illuminated. I would also suggest you try resetting the icemaker by pressing the Test button, as instructed on page 19 of the User Manual. If none of these tips resolve your issue, your refrigerator may require service.

To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Hey By, just got mine this morning with the same out-of-the-box frustration.

Easy fix - you have to "initialize" the ice maker each time the power is removed. Pull out the ice bin, and feel a little back at the center front underside of the unit, there is a small white button, press and hold until your tray dumps. Toss out the cubes and reinstall the bin. All good.

Enjoy yours, I'm loving ours, what a quality feel this product has!

Thanks for the question. The red clips that came with your RS261MDWP can be used to secure the water line and couplers. Please see the attached instructions, which can also be found on page 14 of the user manual for the RS263TD model; this alternate manual can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website for more information.

You must press (firmly) and hold the "ice type" button on the led panel until it beeps (about 3 full seconds), then you can select cubed or crushed with a touch. Be aware if you hold the "ice type" for another three seconds, rather than a quick touch to select ice type, it will beep again and lock out the ice once again.

The "Customer Quick Guide" for this refrigerator recommends a setting of minus two degrees Farenheit, and shows that 4 bars on the display correspond to a temperature of minus two degrees. So, either the quick guide is incorrect, or your statement about 1 to 3 bars is incorrect.

The quick guide shows that that three bars corresponds to a temperature of plus four degrees (Farenheit).

Samsung recommends setting the refrigerator and freezer temperatures on the RS261 at 3 bars on the display, but they can be set to 5 bars if necessary. If yours are set on 5 bars, but the ice cream in the freezer is soft and the fridge does not seem cold, it may require service. I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your RS261MDWP. There are several factors that could impact the icemaker's ability to make ice, some of which you may be able to correct yourself. I would suggest reviewing the Troubleshooting Guide, which can be opened through the following link, then click on "Water And Ice" > "Ice" > Ice Maker Is Not Working Properly Or Is Not Making Ice At All: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

These tips may help determine whether the issue is related to the water supply, the temperature of the freezer, or the controls. If, after reviewing these suggestions, the issue is not resolved, your refrigerator may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Following are some items to check to help determine why your RS261MDWP stopped cooling overnight:
• Check that the power plug is properly connected.
• Is the temperature control on the display panel set to the correct temperature? Try setting it to a lower temperature.
• Is the refrigerator in direct sunlight or located too near a heat source?
• Is the back of the refrigerator too close to the wall and therefore keeping air from circulating?
• Check if the cooling off function is on. If the Freezer/Fridge temperature indicator is moving, press the Lighting and Freezer buttons and hold for about 3 seconds until the chime sounds; the compressor should turn on and the refrigerator should resume cooling shortly.

If, after checking each of the above suggestions, your RS261MDWP does not cool, it will likely require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further.

How do I access "cold water" function?

For instructions on removing the front leg cover to access the water line, please refer to page 12 of the User Manual which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website. The User Manual includes instructions for other aspects of the water line installation, as well.

If the problem persists after you've confirmed the line is attached properly, please click on this link for the Troubleshooting Guide: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Once the Troubleshooting Guide opens, click on Water And Ice > Water > No Water From Dispenser for the relevant article.

I hope this helps to resolve your issue.

The RS261MDWP does not have a timer for the icemaker. It is normal for the cycle to take approximately 90 minutes, though Power Freeze should shorten the cycle to about an hour under ideal conditions. Keep in mind that opening the door, which allows warmer air in and cold air out, and adding warmer food to the freezer can impact the temperature of the compartment and cause the ice to take longer to freeze.

It is not unusual for a small amount of crushed ice to be dispensed when cubed is selected if crushed had been selected the last time ice was dispensed since there could be a small amount left in the chute. If you are unable to select cubed ice, check to make sure the Child Lock feature isn't activated. If Child Lock is not activated and you are unable to select cubed ice, or if the dispenser continues to dispense crushed ice even though cubed is selected, your refrigerator will require service. There are a number of factors that can effect the icemaker's ability to produce ice. When the RS261 is first installed it may take up to 24 hours to reach the set temperature. Once the set temperature is reached, icemaking should commence under the following conditions:

- Water pressure of supplied water should be 20-125 psi. If it takes longer than 10 seconds to fill a 6 oz. glass of water, the pressure is not strong enough. Try removing the water filter to determine if the filter is clogged or partially clogged. If the water pressure increases when the filter is removed, try replacing the filter with a new one.
- The water valve should be turned on fully with no bends or kinks in the water line;
- Press the test/reset button on the icemaker to ensure it is functioning properly.

While Power Freeze can be very helpful in speeding up production, it's important to keep in mind that opening the freezer door will effect the internal temperature allowing cold air out and warm air in, which can slow ice production.

For additional assistance, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak to an agent.

It could take up to 24 hours for your RS261 to reach the set temperature, depending on the difference between the set and current temperature, as well as other factors like the temperature of the food that's been placed inside and how often the door is open. You should hear the compressor come on and feel it start to cool soon after plugging it in. If not, check to see if the "cooling off" mode is activated, which would be indicated by the bars on the temperature display moving constantly. To deactivate "cooling off" mode, press the Lighting and Freezer buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until you hear a chime sound.

One of the LEDs on the front control panel of our RS261MDWP is no longer working.
