If the doors on your RS261MDPN are squeaking, I would suggest applying a small amount of WD40 to the problem area, making sure to wipe up any excess liquid to prevent it from dripping inside.

Question

Samsung RS261MDPN 26 cu. Ft. Side by Side - Stainless Platinum

Does this fridge has the finish also on both sides as well as the front? Does it work on 50hz? I am taking the fridge back home to jamaica. Is it very complicated/expensive to make it compatible if its a 60hz?

The sides of the RS261MDPN have a textured finish and are painted gray to match the Stainless Platinum finish on the doors. Samsung refrigerators that are sold in the U.S. are rated for 115V/60 Hz and 11.6 amps.

Thank you for the question. If the temperature lights on your RS261 display appear to be "scrolling", this probably indicates the "cooling off" mode has been activated. In this mode, the refrigerator appears to be on, but does not produce cold air. To cancel this mode, press the Lighting and Freezer buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until a chime sounds and the display allows you to select the desired temperature setting. The compressor should turn on in about 5 minutes and begin producing cold air.

Question

2" Clearance Question

I am looking at buying one of the RS261M refrigerators and have an existing cabinent space for it. The problem is the dimensions measure almost exactly the size of this fridge. I won't have 2 inches of clearance on either side or the top. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch clearance on the sides and top. Depth is not an issue as it will stick out beyond the cabinent.

Would putting it in that space cause damage to the cooling components? I see on the instruction manual that clearance is for best performance. Is it required or just reccommended? Please advise. Thank you!

Samsung recommends leaving at least 2" at the top, rear and sides for efficiency and to ensure best performance of the RS261MD.

Since your question was submitted through the RS261MDPN, which has a Stainless Platinum finish, I'm not sure whether this is your correct model, or if you actually have the RS261MDRS which is real Stainless Steel.

The Stainless Platinum finish can be cleaned with soap and water, mild detergent or glass cleaner as needed. If you actually have the real Stainless Steel RS261MDRS, there are a number of products available at your local appliance, hardware, home improvement or even grocery store specifically designed to clean the real stainless finish. Simply follow the instructions on the package. Another option is to apply a small amount of baby oil to the stainless exterior using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. This will not only clean the stainless steel, but can help prevent fingerprints from recurring.

Question

I have a model RS261MDPN/XAA refrigerator

I also have a whole-house Culligan water filter to which the refrigerator is attached. I would like to verify information previously received from you that it is perfectly safe to operate the fridge with the filter removed and without a bypass cap since the fridge will automatically bypass the absence of a filter. Thank you for your courtesy.

Question

How do I get the stopper to pop back onto lever in the ice dispenser?

The stopper/seal has popped off the lever that opens to release ice from the ice maker so we can no longer dispense ice through the door and there is no seal as it keeps falling down. It looks like it should be easy to pop back in but i can't quite get it to go back into place by putting my hand thru the back of the dispense when the freezer door is open.

Question

my new refrigerator will not adjust the temperature no matter which setting it is on all my food is frozen solid on the refrigerator side.

When I first set up the unit I read the product manual and put it on the recommended setting of 3. When everything froze solid I put it down to 1 and had no affect on the refrigerators temperature. I checked the trouble shooting part of my product manual for a solution. No vents are blocked and everything else on the display panel reacts normal but the temperature does not change.

Thank you for the question. It's not unusual for a small amount of crushed ice to be dispensed even when cubed is selected, especially if crushed had previously been selected. However, if your RS261 is dispensing the wrong type of ice consistently, it may require service. With regard to the ice spraying on the floor, Samsung recommends holding the glass close to the dispenser chute to help avoid ice escaping from the container.

To reset the water filter indicator light on the RS261MDPN, press the Water button for 3 seconds until the light changes from red to blue. Make sure the Child Lock is not engaged when you do this since it would prevent the buttons from responding.
