If the refrigerator is properly leveled and there is nothing leaning against the walls of the refrigerator (inside or out) that could be causing the noise, and it appears to be getting louder over time, I would suggest calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether service will be necessary.

Question

Ref door not closing becasue of bottom drawer

The bottom drawer in my refrigerator is being pushed out of place due to the "piping" along the back wall. It is like the back piping (not sure what this is but it looks like coiled piping) is freezing and expanding. As it does this, it pushes the drawers out of place and as such the door does not close. In addition, there is water pooling at the bottom of the refrigerator. When I turn off the fridge the piping decreases in size and the drawers fit in/door clsoes just fine. Can you help me with this?

I'm sorry to hear you're having a problem with your RS253BASB. Please try raising the temperature in your refrigerator. Samsung recommends setting the temperature to 38°F, but it can be set as high as 46°F depending on your needs. If there continues to be ice forming in the back of the fridge and nothing is blocking the vents, your RS253BASB may require service. I'm sorry to hear you're having these issues with your RS253BASB. There are several factors that can effect the ability of the water dispenser to work properly. However, if you've raised the refrigerator temperature to as high as 44°F and the produce is freezing, I would suggest you call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help you determine whether service will be necessary.

Question

If, when removing the filter from your RS253BASB, it appears to be "under pressure", this is normal and does not necessarily indicate the filter is clogged, though if it is clogged this could certainly explain why the ice and water are not working. With the filter removed temporarily, try dispensing water and press the test button on the icemaker. If the ice tray fills, and water dispenses through the door, then your filter probably was clogged and should be replaced.

If the water and ice still will not dispense, replace the filter and check the following:
- Is the water line connected properly, with no bends or kinks obstructing flow, and is the valve turned on?
- Is the refrigerator too cold which could cause the water line to freeze? Try raising the refrigerator temperature.
- Bleed air from the lines by pressing the water dispenser lever for several seconds. If water does begin to dispense, continue to dispense 5-6 gallons to remove all the air from the lines, then press the Test button on the icemaker (see page 28 of the user manual which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website).
- If the ice tray fills but water still will not dispense through the door, check the water line connection under the leg cover (refer to page 23 of the user manual).

If you continue to experience problems with the ice and water, please call 800-SAMSUNG for further assistance.

The RS253BASB should produce approximately 100 cubes per day under ideal conditions, though production may vary depending on freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other factors. If yours is making less than this, there are several things that could be contributing. I would suggest checking the following:
- The recommended temperatures for the refrigerator and freezer compartments are 38°F and -2°F, respectively. If the freezer temperature is set higher than this, it could effect ice production. If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is something pressing against the lever that detects when the ice bin is full? The icemaker will not produce ice if it detects a full bin.
- Have you tried pressing the Test button on the side of the icemaker to reset it?
- Have you replaced your water filter recently? A clogged or partially clogged filter can slow water flow and effect ice production. After replacing the filter, be sure to dispense up to 6 gallons of water to bleed air from the lines.
- Is your home's water pressure sufficient? In order for the ice maker to operate properly, water pressure of 20~125 psi is required. Under normal conditions, a 6 oz glass can be filled in about 10 seconds. If the Refrigerator is installed in an area with low water pressure (below 20psi), you may be able to install a booster pump to compensate for the low pressure.
- The Power Freeze feature can help increase ice production by running the compressor for an extended period of time.

I hope these suggestions help to increase your ice production.
