Question

Does my refrigerator ice maker have an automatic shutoff?

I cannot determine if my refrigerator's upper or lower ice maker has an automatic shut off when either tray is full. I reviewed the manual thoroughly, and it makes no mention of the feature. Consequently, I've been performing this task manually using the front control panel. So, does it have an automatic shutoff for ice production? That is, when the either tray is full is it smart enough to stop ice production?

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

All Samsung refrigerators come with an auto shut-off feature on their ice trays. This is why most of the units have an arm to keep this feature in check, though some newer units have an IR sensor in lieu of the mechanical arm. Your unit includes the arm, so if the auto shut-off feature is not working as expected, we recommend service.

Upper Ice Maker not producing ice

We just purchased this refrigerator. The freezer ice maker (bottom drawer) is working fine. The water dispenser in the door is working fine. The refrigerator ice maker is not producing ice. We have pushed the test button on the ice maker (with cubed ice button activated) and nothing happens. No chimes. The no ice icons are both off on the control panel.

Question

Ice makers very slow

I just bought the RFG298HDRS and have noticed ice making is extremely slow. I have set the temperatures per Samsung recommendation, tested our water flow, 12 oz. in 10 seconds, and reset both makers. The last time I heard the top maker drop ice was over 2 hours ago. Why so slow??

How do I remove the glass above the vegetable and fruit bins? A spill inside the refrigerator got under the glass. Samsung recommends leaving at least 3/8" on the top and sides of the RFG298HDRS, and 1" behind it, to allow for air circulation and ease of installation. If either side is opening into a wall or cabinet, you'll need 3-3/4" on that side so the door can open 90-degrees without obstruction from the handle.

Thanks for the question. The lower icemaker in your RFG298HDRS has a feeler arm similar to the one in the upper icemaker that detects when the bin is full and turns it off automatically. If you find that you aren't using the ice in the lower bin on a regular basis, resulting in the ice fusing together in chunks, you can turn the icemaker off manually by pressing the Ice Off button repeatedly until the corresponding Ice Off icon is illuminated on the control panel. When you wish to resume using the lower icemaker, just press the Ice Off button again so the icon is no longer lit up.

Question

Lower Ice Maker

RFG298HDWP

Are there repair / guides to using or reseting the lower ice maker in this model?

The upper Ice maker is working just fine.

We have had this new refridgerator for one week now and the lower Ice maker has stopped working. There does not seem to be any water getting into the ice tray. The Ice bucket was emptied and 24 hrs later, still no new ice.

Please Advise.

Thanks for the question. Please try pressing the Test button on the bottom of the icemaker, which should cause the ice tray to rotate then fill with water. It's also important to make sure the icemaker is turned on; check the control panel to see if the Lower Icemaker Ice Off icon is illuminated.

For further assistance in the event the tray does not fill with water then start to produce ice regularly, please call 800-SAMSUNG.
