Question

How to remove vegetable bin cover in RFG297AABP?

I have bought the OEM replacement part. It is attached to a center post between the two vegetable bins. I cannot figure out how to disconnect the old one. There are no screws. If it is a snap-in connection, I cannot see where the release button is.

Thank you for the question. The glass in the shelf above the vegetable bins can be removed by following the instructions available in the Troubleshooting Guide. Please follow the link below to open the Guide, then select "Maintenance ► Cleaning the Refrigerator ► How To Remove The Glass Shelf Above The Fruit And Vegetable Drawers": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

If you have a more recent RFG297HD model with the water filter located between the veggie bins and you'd like to remove the entire shelf, you'll find the release tabs located on both sides of the shelf support that holds the shelf in place (see picture); press these tabs and pull the shelf out toward you. The shelf fits snuggly into a track at the rear of the fridge as well, but it should slide out when you pull it toward you. Make sure when you're replacing the shelf that it fits back into these tracks.

If you have the original RFG297AA model, you should be able to pull the shelf out without pressing any release tabs.

Samsung recommends using the internal filtration system to help prevent mineral deposits and debris from damaging the refrigerator's water lines. If your external filtration system is designed to remove such particles effectively, then you should be able to remove the filter cartridge from the refrigerator. If there comes a time when you stop using the external filter, then you should replace the cartridge.

Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, the RFG297AARS does not have the ability to have another icemaker installed. This model is designed to produce about 7-1/2 pounds of ice per day. Production may vary depending on freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other factors, so if yours is making less than this, I would suggest checking the following:
- The recommended temperatures for the refrigerator and freezer compartments are 38°F and -2°F, respectively. If the freezer temperature is set higher than this, it could effect ice production. If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is something pressing against the lever that detects when the ice bin is full? The icemaker will not produce ice if it detects a full bin.
- Have you tried pressing the Test button on the side of the icemaker to reset it?
- Have you replaced your water filter recently? A clogged or partially clogged filter can slow water flow and effect ice production. After replacing the filter, be sure to dispense up to 6 gallons of water to bleed air from the lines.
- Is your home's water pressure sufficient? In order for the ice maker to operate properly, water pressure of 20~125 psi is required. Under normal conditions, a 6 oz glass can be filled in about 10 seconds. If the Refrigerator is installed in an area with low water pressure (below 20psi), you may be able to install a booster pump to compensate for the low pressure.
- The Power Freeze feature can help increase ice production by running the compressor for an extended period of time.

I hope these suggestions help to increase your ice production.

Thanks for the question. It's difficult to say what might be causing water to collect on the top of your freezer drawer. If it's a very small amount, this could be caused by a few drops of condensation escaping from the refrigerator compartment when the door is opened. A small amount of condensation is normal given the intentionally high humidity level in the refrigerator, thanks to the Twin Cooling Plus. The water may also be from the dispenser, either from ice fragments melting or from the glass being pulled away early.

I would suggest checking the freezer drawer seal to make sure it is aligned and sealing properly. Click on the following link then select "Troubleshooting ► > Freezer ► > Freezer Door Not Closing Properly": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

If you find that there is more water accumulation than can be explained by the above suggestions, then please review the other related articles in the troubleshooting guide by selecting "Troubleshooting ► > Water And Ice ► > Water Is Leaking".

Some noises the refrigerator makes are normal and can be minimized by properly leveling the refrigerator or making other minor adjustments. I would suggest you visit the Troubleshooting Guide through the link below, then select "Troubleshooting ► Noise/Vibration" for explanations and troubleshooting suggestions: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

It's not unusual for a small amount of crushed ice to dispense even when cubed is selected, particularly if crushed ice had been selected previously. However, if your refrigerator is dispensing only crushed ice, please visit the troubleshooting guide article using the same link as above, but from the "Home" page select "Troubleshooting ► > Water And Ice ► > Ice ► > Ice Maker Is Dispensing The Wrong Type Of Ice".

If these suggestions do not help to resolve your concerns, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

The RFG297AABP is equipped with Samsung's Twin Cooling system which helps to maintain the higher humidity level required to prolong the freshness of many fruits and vegetables. If the moisture in your refrigerator is turning to ice, then I would suggest you try increasing the temperature and also making sure that the air vents are not blocked. If this does not resolve the issue, please submit your contact information through the following link for further assistance: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/o...

There are a number of products available at your local appliance, hardware, home improvement or even grocery store specifically designed to clean real stainless steel. Simply follow the instructions on the package. Another option is to apply a small amount of baby oil to the stainless finish using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. This will not only clean the stainless steel, but can help prevent fingerprints from recurring.

Please note that the model that this question was submitted through actually has a black finish rather than stainless; refrigerators with a black finish can be cleaned using mild soap or household cleaner applied with a cloth, then wiped clean and dry.

Thanks for the question. If you need to actually remove and replace the entire door, please refer to page 9 of the user manual which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website. If it's only the vertical hinged strip between the doors that you're replacing, please follow these instructions:

1. Open the left side door.
2. Locate and remove the two screw covers on the center of the flap.
3. Remove both screws.
4. Pull up on the flap assembly to remove it from the door.
5. Disconnect the electrical connection.
6. Reverse the removal procedure for installation.

I'm sorry to hear you're having these issues with your RFG297AARS. At the recommended 20-125 psi water pressure, a 6 oz glass of water should dispense in about 10 seconds. If yours is slower than this, please check to make sure the water valve is turned on all the way and the lines are free of bends or kinks that could obstruct flow. Try bleeding air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water. Next, reset the icemaker by pressing the Test button on its side. This should cause the tray to rotate and harvest ice, then fill with the appropriate amount of water again.

Regarding the frost, it's not unusual to have a small amount in the freezer since each time the drawer is opened, warmer air enters carrying moisture that freezes on the cold surfaces inside the compartment. While Samsung freezers do have heaters in the walls that cycle on periodically to prevent frost build-up, this does not necessarily prevent the moisture from condensing on the packages or plastic bins. To help reduce the amount of frost on packages, keep the drawer closed as much as possible.

If you're experiencing more than just a small amount of frost, I would suggest reviewing the available troubleshooting articles on this topic to ensure the drawer is closing properly and the vents are not blocked. Please click the link below, then select "Troubleshooting ► Freezer ► Frost in the Freezer": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...
Finally, the following link will bring you to a helpful how-to video on removing frost from the bottom freezer: http://support-us.samsung.com/spsn/...

Samsung refrigerators are designed to lean back slightly to help the doors close more easily but the interior of the unit should be level. You can check that by placing a level inside of the refrigerator. While the front legs can be adjusted to help level the refrigerator from left to right, if necessary, but it should not be adjusted more than the leveling legs will allow, and the wheels themselves cannot be adjusted.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If ice is forming under the Cool Select Pantry Drawer, it's possible that your refrigerator temperature is set either too high or too low. Please adjust the temperature to 38°F, if necessary. The water that is freezing may be the result of condensation or it could be an indication of a leak that would require service to repair. Try wiping up the water and waiting 24 hours. If water has accumulated there again by the next day, your refrigerator will likely require service. I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If your water tastes bad after changing the filter, flush the system by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water. The taste should dissipate over time. It's also possible that impurities in the water have contaminated the filter earlier than usual. Replacing the filter with a new one, then flushing that one thoroughly may help to resolve it.
