Thank you for contacting Samsung.

According to the user manual, if you wish to change the temperature, you only need to tap the Fridge/Hold button once. You can continue to tap it to get to your preferred setting. Holding the button for 3 seconds enables the Power Cool feature and you can learn more about that and other features of the Display Panel on page 21.

Question

Can door display LED's be replaced?

The LEDs in the outside door display that stay on all the time (energy saver, water, ice, filter status, light) are getting very dim compared with those that cycle off after a while (i.e. temperature, power cool, power freeze). I am concerned they are going to burn out. What can I do?

Question

Why would a modern Samgsung refrigerator begin to rust?

Despite my careful attention to the bottom of the ice/water dispensing inset in the door, use of mild vinegar solution to remove water stains and deposits, only soft sponges and cloths, the lip on the bottom front has begun to rust. The water doesn't even "stand" there as it does in the plastic bottom. I thought this was an enamel finish? How to fix? See pictures of correct area.

Question

Can ice and water dispenser angle be adjusted?

Overall we love this refrigerator. However, the angle of the ice and water dispenser makes it frustrating to use and causes ice and/or water to end up on the floor. We have noticed that in newer models, this has been adjusted.

The icon you described indicates the Power Cool function has been activated to cool the refrigerator quickly. This is particularly helpful if the door has been left open or warm food has been added. To deactivate it, press the Fridge button for about 3 seconds until the icon is no longer lit up.

Question

Why does my ice maker keep dumping ice so fast all over the floor when I take away the glass?

When I use the ice dispenser, it dispenses a few cubes nicely and then it goes "wild" and spits out ice cubes very fast and they end up on the kitchen floor. We have tried all kinds of ways to be careful and can't work out the timing to stop the flow.

Sorry to hear your dispenser is working too quickly. There is no manual adjustment for the dispenser, so I would suggest trying to:
- hold the glass as close as possible to the opening to the ice chute;
- stop pressing the lever a short time before the glass is full;
- continue to hold the glass under the chute for a few seconds after releasing the lever.

The auger that turns causing the ice to move into the chute is controlled by the dispenser lever, so if you stop the auger from turning before the glass is full then this should help to control the amount of ice that's pushed into the chute before it overflows.

I'm sorry to hear your water and ice have a bad taste. Dispensing 5-6 gallons of water after replacing the filter should help to flush the system while also bleeding air from the lines. Ultimately, the taste should dissipate over time.

It's not unusual to have a small amount of water gather on the bottom of the fridge as a result of condensation, but if you have a significant amount accumulating, your refrigerator may require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Answer this Question

There are several factors that can effect the ability of an icemaker to produce ice, including water supply, freezer and refrigerator temperatures, and control panel functions. Please check the following to try to resolve the issue:
- Is the water connected, the valve turned on and hoses unkinked and free of obstruction?
- Is your home's water pressure between 20~125 psi? Under normal conditions, a 5.75 oz. glass can be filled in about 10 seconds.
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is the freezer temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F.
- Is the icemaker turned on? Make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the display.
- Is the feeler arm under the icemaker stuck in the "up" position, which would signal to the icemaker that the bucket is full and to stop making ice.
- Is the control panel locked, which would prevent the dispenser from operating?
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place?
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water from the dispenser since installing or replacing the filter?
- Did you press the Test button on the icemaker to reset it?

If none of the above suggestions helps to resolve the issue, and the ice tray does not fill with water, try removing the water filter temporarily and press the test button on the icemaker again. If the tray fills without a filter installed, then the cartridge is likely clogged or partially clogged and should be replaced. The filter should be replaced about every 6 months based on average usage, but it could become clogged sooner if there are a lot of impurities in the water supply.
