Thank you for contacting Samsung.

According to the user manual, if you wish to change the temperature, you only need to tap the Fridge/Hold button once. You can continue to tap it to get to your preferred setting. Holding the button for 3 seconds enables the Power Cool feature and you can learn more about that and other features of the Display Panel on page 21.

Question

Why would a modern Samgsung refrigerator begin to rust?

Despite my careful attention to the bottom of the ice/water dispensing inset in the door, use of mild vinegar solution to remove water stains and deposits, only soft sponges and cloths, the lip on the bottom front has begun to rust. The water doesn't even "stand" there as it does in the plastic bottom. I thought this was an enamel finish? How to fix? See pictures of correct area.

Question

Can door display LED's be replaced?

The LEDs in the outside door display that stay on all the time (energy saver, water, ice, filter status, light) are getting very dim compared with those that cycle off after a while (i.e. temperature, power cool, power freeze). I am concerned they are going to burn out. What can I do?

Question

Can ice and water dispenser angle be adjusted?

Overall we love this refrigerator. However, the angle of the ice and water dispenser makes it frustrating to use and causes ice and/or water to end up on the floor. We have noticed that in newer models, this has been adjusted.

How to prevent ice chips from remaining behind the flap?

When we get crushed ice, ice chips remain behind the flap, melts, and then runs out all over the front of the refrigerator and on the floor the next time you go to get ice. Didn't do this the first couple years. Why now and how to stop?

Please click on the following link for tips on checking the door flap that controls the cubed and crushed ice functions, and removing any ice build-up that could prevent it from opening or closing properly: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Please also make sure the refrigerator is level from left to right since this can affect the alignment of the icemaker chute and allow warmer air in to melt the ice if not properly aligned. You can find instructions for leveling the unit and making minor adjustments to the door height in the user manual.

The letters "OF" on the display of your RFG297AABP indicate the Cooling Off mode has been activated. To cancel this mode, press the Energy Saver and Freezer buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until a chime sounds and a numeric reading returns to the display, allowing you to set the desired temperature. The compressor should turn on in about 5 minutes and begin producing cold air.

Question

How do I flush water line to remove slime / Algae?

I am seeing a green / yellowish slime or algae being dispensed in the water. I put in a new filter, but still see the problem, so there must be a build up between the filter and the dispenser. I have seen some people suggest a chlorine flush on other refrigerator brands, but I would not know how to do that in this case.

The recommendation to "polish once or twice per year" actually applies to models with the real Stainless Steel exteriors. The surface of your RFG297AABP can be cleaned with soap and water, mild detergent or glass cleaner as needed. To help reduce streaks, try using a streak-free cleaner.
