The RFG293 refrigerator should produce approximately 133 cubes per day under ideal conditions. If yours is producing less than this, there are several factors that could be contributing to the low production. Following are the most common fixes to help increase production:
1. The recommended temperature for the refrigerator and freezer compartments are 38°F and -2°F, respectively. If the temperature is set higher than these, it could effect ice production.
2. In order for the icemaker to operate properly, water pressure of 20~125 psi is required. In addition to checking your household supply, be sure the water line is connected properly, the water valve is fully open, and there are no kinks in the water line. A clogged filter, or one in need of replacement can effect the water pressure supplied to the icemaker. To determine whether the filter is the culprit try removing it and waiting 24 hours. Samsung does not recommend operating your ice maker without a water filtration system long term, since unfiltered water could lead to issues in the water lines. Therefore, if the water filter is contributing to the low water pressure, please replace the filter with a new one.
3. Is the icemaker turned off? If so, press the ICE OFF button on the control panel to turn the icemaker back on.
4. Have you tried pressing the icemaker reset/test button, as shown on page 21 of the User Manual?
5. The Power Freeze feature can help increase ice production by running the compressor for an extended period of time. This feature can be activated by pressing the Power Freeze button on the control panel.

Please also keep in mind that opening the freezer drawer, which allows cold air out and warm air in, or loading warmer foods into the freezer compartment, will cause the overall temperature to increase which will effect production. Keeping the freezer drawer closed as much as possible may also help the situation.

If the vertical strip is not aligned with the track on the cabinet of the RFG293HARS, you can correct this by ensuring the refrigerator is level, then adding the small fasteners that came with the refrigerator as "spacers" in the lower left hinge assembly to raise the door higher.

First, check to see if the refrigerator is level left to right using a carpenter's level placed on a shelf inside the refrigerator. Adjust the front leveling legs as needed so the bubble is completely centered in the level. If the door is still too low for the strip to meet the track, locate the small fastener rings that should have come with the refrigerator (see the image below, or page 9 of your User Manual). Using pliers, insert the fasteners as instructed on page 16 of the User Manual, which can be downloaded from this website for your convenience.

In making these adjustments, make sure the left and right doors remain even both for aesthetic reasons as well as for a tight seal. If you need additional fasteners, please visit SamsungParts.com or call 800-627-4368 to speak with an agent who can assist you.

I'm sorry to hear the freezer drawer handles on your RFG293HARS is broken. I would suggest having the handle fixed by a qualified technician to make sure it is done properly due to the complexity of the "EZ Open Handle" mechanism. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Is there any way to disable the light by tricking the refrigerator into "thinking" that the door is closed? Or, does it come with a sabbath mode?

The RFG293 does not have a Sabbath mode, but there is a way to "trick" it into thinking the doors are closed when they're not, causing the lights inside the refrigerator to remain off even when the doors are open.

Here's how: 1) Find the two locations on the top of the plastic piece above the front of the refrigerator where the word 'switch' is embossed in raised letters. 2) Tape magnets just below these two locations, on the front of the plastic cover. Once both magnets are placed correctly, the lights will turn off. 3) The freezer lights are controlled by a button that gets compressed when the drawer is closed. The button is located on the left side of the freezer wall. Simply tape the button down during the Sabbath, and the lights will remain off. It is important to note that if the refrigerator thinks the doors are closed when in fact they are open, the fan may come on with the door open and dissipate all the cold air from inside the unit. The magnets should be removed when Sabbath is over.

If your goal is to turn the RFG293 off entirely, then you would need to either unplug the unit or turn off the circuit breaker to that outlet. If you would like to turn the cooling system off but not the lights, you can engage the "cooling off mode" by pressing the Power Freeze and Freezer buttons simultaneously for at least 3 seconds until you hear a chime sound. Keep in mind that neither of these options will control the water supply to the unit.

Adjusting the temperature settings will not enable you to turn the refrigerator off.

When set up correctly, the auto pull-out drawer on your RFG293 should pull out about halfway automatically so you can easily reach it to pull it out the rest of the way manually, if needed. Please see the attached photos indicating the correct set up - the drawer wheels should be in front of the lips on the rail beneath it - and the drawer in the "auto pull-out" position.

Samsung recommends leaving at least 2" above and behind the RFG293, as well as 1" on each side, to allow sufficient air flow for the cooling system to work properly and most efficiently. If the refrigerator is installed next to a perpendicular wall or cabinets, you'll need at least 3-3/4" clearance on that side so the door can open at least 90° unobstructed by the handle.

Thank you for the question. The glass inserts in the shelf above the crisper drawers can be removed by following the instructions available in the Troubleshooting Guide. Please follow the link below to open the Guide, then select "Maintenance ► Cleaning the Refrigerator ► How To Remove The Glass Shelf Above The Fruit And Vegetable Drawers": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

If you find you need to remove the entire shelf, press the release tabs at the top of the water filter housing, as shown in the attached picture, then lift and pull the shelf out toward you.

Question

Left door opening clearance

I have very tight spot for install. Left side of the refrigerator will be 1 inch away from fixed wall. The wall only extends 4 inches past the unit so the door handle does not hit the wall, only the door itself.

Based on what I have read 3.75 inches minus 2.63 inches (handles) equals 1.12 to get the door to 90 degrees. I don't care if the door doesn't make it to 90, as long as the pantry drawer pulls all the way out.

Can someone tell me the minimum angle the door needs on for the drawer to pull out?

Thanks for your interest. If the doors are open less than 90-degrees, you won't have full access to the Cool Select Pantry drawer or crisper drawers in the RFG293HARS. Please keep in mind that the recommended 3-3/4" also takes into account the curvature of the doors, not just the depth of the handles themselves. If the space is very tight, you may want to consider a narrower model such as the RF4267HARS or RF217ACRS to ensure easy access to all drawers, bins and shelves.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty adjusting the height of the right door on your RFG293HARS. Besides turning the allen wrench in the shaft of the lower hinge, did you try inserting the fastener rings as instructed? Did you also make sure the refrigerator was first leveled side to side, which can effect whether the doors appear level?

If you've tried each of these adjustments and are unable to complete the task, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.
