Question

the left door 'flap' does not reach groove

The left door 'slide bar' does not reach or slide into its groove. Once opened it doesn't close unless done manually. This leaves a gap between doors when closed and cold air escapes. It seems like the door is not aligned or is too short to reach the groove.

Question

Why is my ice maker hardly making ice??

We just hooked the water up to the ice maker. It was correctly done according to the very brief instructions in the manual. It is now over 24 hours and there is only a small amount of ice cubes.

We have conferred with our resident home appliance expert and he indicated this would be perfectly fine, though he wouldn't suggest you leave the plastic on an oven range that is in use.

What should I to get my ice maker to make ice again?

I pushed test button. I took out the water filter. I checked the water pressure going to the ice maker. Still no ice. It had been making ice, and we use it quickly so the basket empties often. This is a new unit for us...anything else I should try?

Question

Left door opening clearance

I have very tight spot for install. Left side of the refrigerator will be 1 inch away from fixed wall. The wall only extends 4 inches past the unit so the door handle does not hit the wall, only the door itself.

Based on what I have read 3.75 inches minus 2.63 inches (handles) equals 1.12 to get the door to 90 degrees. I don't care if the door doesn't make it to 90, as long as the pantry drawer pulls all the way out.

Can someone tell me the minimum angle the door needs on for the drawer to pull out?

Thanks for your interest. If the doors are open less than 90-degrees, you won't have full access to the Cool Select Pantry drawer or crisper drawers in the RFG293HARS. Please keep in mind that the recommended 3-3/4" also takes into account the curvature of the doors, not just the depth of the handles themselves. If the space is very tight, you may want to consider a narrower model such as the RF4267HARS or RF217ACRS to ensure easy access to all drawers, bins and shelves.

Question

Why does the right-hand door seal tear near the top?

This is the third seal that has torn. They only last 3 or 4 months before tearing. The refrigerator is now out of warranty and I feel that this is a design or material selection flaw. Competitors french door style doors have much more robust seals. At times, the torn seal whistles after the door is closed. You can see in the attached photo how it's been sucked into the refrigerator cabinet. Has anyone else had this issue?

Samsung - can you please fix this problem at your cost?

Question

Replaced ice overfill guide, now no ice is produced.

Backstory: opened the freezer and the ice overfill guide (might not be the proper name) snapped off, flew out and bounced off my knee. From that point on, the ice maker wouldn't shut off when the tray was full. (Just as you'd expect.) I just replaced it, but am getting no ice.

Question

i love the fridge would like to know how to shut the lights and digital display for the sabbath

many comparable fridges have a sabbath mode, or a way to overide the display/lighting from turning on, thereby enabling one to use it on the Jewish Sabbath. is there any way to do this on this model?

There is a way to "trick" the RFG293 into thinking the doors are closed when they're not, which will cause the lights inside the refrigerator to remain off even when the doors are open. Here's how: 1) Find the two locations on the top of the plastic piece above the front of the refrigerator where the word 'switch' is embossed in raised letters. 2) Tape magnets just below these two locations, on the front of the plastic cover. Once both magnets are placed correctly, the lights will turn off. 3) The freezer lights are controlled by a button that gets compressed when the drawer is closed. The button is located on the left side of the freezer wall. Simply tape the button down during the Sabbath, and the lights will remain off. It is important to note that if the refrigerator thinks the doors are closed when in fact they are open, the fan may come on with the door open and dissipate the cold air from inside the unit. The magnets should be removed when Sabbath is over.

Thanks for the question. There are two key differences between these two models besides the storage capacity. The RF266AEPN features Samsung's signature Twin Cooling system to help keep food fresh longer, and it also has an internal water dispenser in the refrigerator compartment. The RFG293HAPN has Twin Cooling Plus for enhanced freshness and no water dispenser. Both models have LED lighting and an automatic icemaker in the freezer compartment.
