Instructions for removing the doors and drawer, which is actually preferred by many to removing just the handles to avoid scratching the surface of the refrigerator, are included in the User Manual which can be downloaded as a PDF file from this website. The RFG293 is only 29-1/8" deep without the doors and drawer.

The RFG293HABP has a filter for the water which is supplied to the icemaker. Since this model does not have a water dispenser, the icemaker is the only feature which uses the filtered water.

Thanks for the question. There are several factors that can effect the ability of the icemaker to produce ice, in particular the availability of water to fill the tray, and the temperature of the freezer once the tray is filled with water. First, make sure the Ice Off button on the control panel has not been pressed. Next, try pressing the Test button on the bottom of the icemaker, which should cause the tray to rotate then fill with water. For the water to freeze, the freezer temperature should be set to -2°F or colder. You can also press the Power Freeze button on the control panel to help speed the freezing process.

If the tray did not fill with water, check the water supply valve to make sure it is on all the way, and make sure the line is not bent or kinked. Samsung recommends setting the refrigerator temperature to 38°F; if set too cold the water line could freeze. It may be necessary to press the Test button more than once when the water filter is first installed or replaced in order to bleed air from the line.

If water does not fill the tray, try removing the filter then press the Test button again. If the tray fills without the filter installed, it is likely clogged and should be replaced. If the icemaker still won't fill with water or does not rotate to dump the ice when the Test button is pressed, it may require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Samsung's French Door models that do not have water dispensers include the 26 cubic foot RF263 and the 29 cubic foot RFG293.

Though the RF263 and RFG293 have different storage capacities, it's important to note that they have exactly the same external dimensions. This is made possible by Samsung's use of a new type of insulation in the 29 cubic foot model, which allows for thinner walls and more interior capacity.

The RF263 uses Samsung's signature Twin Cooling system, which helps keep food fresh longer with an average humidity level of about 43%, compared to only 9-17% in conventional refrigerators, but as much as 75% in the advanced Twin Cooling Plus in the RFG293. The RFG293 also comes with a wine rack, but the RF263 does not.

These two models offer many of the same features, as well, including LED lighting, Energy Star compliance, EZ Open Freezer Drawer Handles and Auto Pull-Out Upper Freezer Drawer. In addition, these models share Samsung's legacy as the 6-time recipient of the JD Power & Associates Overall Customer Satisfaction Award for Refrigertors (2005-2010).

I'm sorry to hear you have an error code displayed on your RFG293HABP. These codes are part of an internal diagnostic system that will help guide a qualified technician to identify the cause of an issue and find a solution. When you unplug the refrigerator, the error codes and other history is cleared from the refrigerator's memory, so Samsung does not recommend doing this unless advised to do so by an authorized technician. To initiate the service process, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

Motor runs constantly and does not shut off. Is this normal?

Installation was 20 hours ago and the motor has never stopped. The energy saver light is on and the display indicates that the temperature in the freezer and refrigerator are at the set tempperature (-2 and 38).

Since it can take up to 24 hours to reach the set temperature, it would not be unusual for the compressor in your RFG293HABP to run continually for that period of time. Even if the display indicates it has reached the desired setting, the machine may have detected the need to continue running to maintain that temperature, particularly if the door is being opened regularly or warmer items have been added. You could test this theory by raising the temperature of the refrigerator and don't do anything that will impact the interior temperature (such as opening the door or adding warmer items). Also, make sure Power Freeze and Power Cool are not selected on the control panel. If those buttons are not selected and the compressor continues to run, I would suggest calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further.

Great question! Samsung uses a special state-of-the-art insulation in certain models (those starting with "RFG" or "RSG" possess this trait) to allow for thinner wall construction. This is how two models with the same "footprint" can have such different interior capacities, as is the case with the 29 cubic foot RFG293 and 26 cubic foot RF263.

I can't tell you whether the RFG293 will be available in Stainless Platinum in the future. What I can tell you is that it is currently available in Black, White and Real Stainless Steel. To find retailers near you that carry this model in different colors, I would suggest using the Where to Buy tool on the product's home page, and contacting the retailer to determine which colors they have available or are able to order.

The RFG293HABP's Energy Saver button turns off the low-wattage heater that helps to evaporate condensation between the doors. Condensation is more likely to occur in hot and humid climates or seasons. Samsung has given customers the option of turning this heater off to save energy during dryer seasons, like the winter months, or for those who live in dry climates. When Energy Saver is on, the heater is off.

Thank you for the question. The glass in the shelf above the crisper drawers can be removed by following the instructions available in the Troubleshooting Guide. Please follow the link below to open the Guide, then select "Maintenance ► Cleaning the Refrigerator ► How To Remove The Glass Shelf Above The Fruit And Vegetable Drawers": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

To remove the entire shelf, including the glass inserts, press the release tabs on both sides of the shelf support that holds the shelf in place (see picture) and pull the shelf out toward you. The shelf fits snuggly into a track at the rear of the fridge as well, but it should slide out when you pull it toward you. Make sure when you're replacing the shelf that it fits back into these tracks.

I would suggest using a mild streak-free glass or multi-surface cleaner on the surface of your RFG293HABP to avoid smears. Samsung recommends avoiding spraying any liquid directly on the appliance. Spray a small amount on a soft, lint-free cloth first, then wipe the refrigerator clean.

Thank you for the question. Samsung does not actually have a "Sabbath mode" feature on the refrigerators, though there is a way to "trick" the RFG293 into thinking the doors are closed when they're not, which will cause the lights inside the refrigerator to remain off even when the doors are open. Here's how: 1) Find the two locations on the top of the plastic piece above the front of the refrigerator where the word 'switch' is embossed in raised letters. 2) Tape magnets just below these two locations, on the front of the plastic cover. Once both magnets are placed correctly, the lights will turn off. 3) The freezer lights are controlled by a button that gets compressed when the drawer is closed. The button is located on the left side of the freezer wall. Simply tape the button down during the Sabbath, and the lights will remain off.

It is important to note that if the refrigerator thinks the doors are closed when in fact they are open, the fan may come on with the door open and dissipate all the cold air from inside the unit. The magnets should be removed when Sabbath is over.
