Question

How do I set the time zone? (eastern, central, etc.)

I have a new RF4289HARS and I'm trying to figure out how to set the time zone. I received a new software update yesterday and after the system re-booted, it asked me first thing to input my time zone. I successfully did but I cannot now find where that information can be changed. Using the settings button on the display I can find where to set the time, and the date, but I cannot find anywhere how to set/change the time zone.

Thank you for the question. As you mentioned, the latest software update (version 2.322) made it possible to select a time zone, but once one is selected, it cannot be changed. This additional adjustment, making it possible to change the time zone as needed, will be made in a future update, though I can't tell you when that will be available.

Question

What did firmware push 2.322 on 6 July accomplish?

When the screensaver theme runs, we still can not delete or deselect those 10 annoying Epicurious app photos that mix in with our own that we uploaded with our camera SD card. We enjoy the screensave theme when it runs but we want to see our own photos and not have the 10 Epicurious photos mix in. Has this been reported to the "bug" team and when will this issue be addressed?

The latest firmware update 2.320 included the ability to select time zones, among other things. We appreciate your feedback with regard to the 10 pre-loaded images on the RF4289, and your comments have been shared with the team. Thank you for the question. It's not unusual to have a small amount of frost in the freezer since each time the drawer is opened, warmer air enters carrying moisture that freezes on the cold surfaces inside the compartment. While Samsung freezers do have heaters in the walls that cycle on periodically to prevent frost build-up, this does not necessarily prevent the moisture from condensing on the packages, plastic bins or Auto Pull-Out drawer since it does not have a defroster. To help reduce the amount of frost on these areas, keep the drawer closed as much as possible.

If your RF4289 is not able to find a wireless access point, please check the following:
• Check if the power for the wireless router is on, and make sure the WiFi is set to On in the Settings menu of the RF4289 display.
• If the router is located away from the Fridge, move it closer then check to see if it is detected. Please refer to page 62 of the User Manual for notes regarding the types of obstacles that may effect the range or quality of wireless signals.
• Turn the power of both the router and the Fridge off and on.
• Touch the Search button to detect available signals.

If your router still isn't detected, please contact your ISP (internet service provider) for help determining whether your router's signal has been hidden (closed) so as not to be detected by unknown devices. If this is the case, the registered administrator should be able to change the setting so the refrigerator can "see" your router.

If none of these solutions help to resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG for further assistance.

I'm sorry you're having difficulty getting the WiFi working on your RF4289 refrigerator. Please start by viewing the how-to video for connecting to a wireless network in your home by clicking here: http://support-us.samsung.com/spsn/...

If your RF4289 is not able to find a wireless access point, please check the following:

Where is attached photo?

Ms Samsung answered my question about the auto pull out freezer drawer opening partway when the bottom freezer drawer is opened, by referencing an attached photo, but I don't know where to look for that photo. Does anyone know where it is?

I'm sorry you weren't able to see the uploaded photos, so I'll try attaching them again. There are two photos attached; one showing how far out the Auto Pull-out drawer should open automatically and the other showing the proper position of the upper drawer on the rail so that it will open automatically.

Thank you for your interest. At this point in time, the RF4289 Four Door French Door with WiFi and Apps is available only in real Stainless Steel. I can't tell you whether other colors may become available in the future.

Why is the water not cold enough?

Why is the water from the Samsung (RF4289HARS) not as cold as my old Samsung refrigerator's?
The first cup of water in the morning is nice and cold, but the next cup that comes out of this fridge is as cold as the tap water...Very disappointing!!!

Thank you for the question. The refrigerator's reservoir holds about two liters of water, so you should be able to dispense that amount of chilled water. I would suggest waiting 24 hours then try dispensing several glasses (up to about 2 liters) of water. If it isn't chilled, your refrigerator may require service. Question

The temperature display reads "1 2" for 102 degrees F.

Is this what I should expect? It gets pretty hot here in Texas. There are a lot of 100+ days, If there are no zeros displayed, it could get confusing.

Does the RF4289HARS support a wired ethernet connection in addition to WiFi?

I see there there is an RJ45 port on the back of the RF4289HARS refrigerator. Does it also support wired connectivity if I preferred to connect to the internet that way instead of using WiFi?

The port on the back of the RF4289HARS was designed to connect a modem for enabling the Smart Grid application once that technology becomes available, and it cannot be used for an ethernet connection.

Question

Changing water filter

We just purchased a new RF4289HARS Refrigerator and the manual is somewhat unclear as to whether or not the water supply must be turned off to change the water filter.

One paragraph states to turn the water off but another paragraph states "If you are in trouble of inserting the water filter as high pressure of water, shut off the water supply valve." and another paragraph reads, "If you turned off the water supply, turn it back on."

This would seem to indicate it is not necessary to turn off the water.

Is it REQUIRED to turn off the water supply to change the filter?

Thank you for the question. It is not necessary to turn off the water supply to the refrigerator in order to change the filter cartridge. You may find it helpful to do so, however, because it would alleviate some of the pressure in the water line that could make it difficult to insert the cartridge and lock it in place.

Question

Screensaver theme options on RF4289HARS?

I KNOW that the default photos still can not be deleted under the latest current firmware version 2.320. As a user I would appreciate a way to deselect or exclude the 10 default preloaded Epicurious images when the Screensaver theme runs so that they dont mix in and appear in the middle of my own uploaded images of my children etc. Unfortunately, I have seen the default loaded Epicurious images hundreds of times now. If you dont want to give users the option to delete them, then please just have a checkbox that says "Hide default app photos."

We have a weak connection to our Verizon AP.

But we have a very good to excellent connection on our laptop located next to the refrigerator. The music on Pandora cuts in and out on the refrigerator but plays perfect on the laptop. How can we fix this?

The temperature of the water that is dispensed from the RF4289 is determined by the refrigerator temperature. To increase it, you would need to increase the refrigerator setting. If you find the dispensed water is not cold enough, it may be because you're dispensing more than the storage tank can hold, resulting in dispensed water being the same temperature as your tap water.

How do I get the server to connect again.

I was listening to Pandora, and it stopped. The refrigerator was connected but the server wasn't and it said to try later. I have been trying for 2 days and it still says the server is not connected. I was getting some weather bug but not it states that the servers are not connected and to try later. I need assistance.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your connection. Go to page 2 of the Settings menu and make sure Wi-Fi is "On", then select "Wi-Fi Networks" and press "Search" if it does not do so automatically. If your home's access point does not populate the screen, then check your wireless router to make sure it is turned on and functioning properly. There are a variety of factors that can make it difficult for the wireless signal to be received. Samsung RF4289HARS - will it be available in black?

I have recently ordered your french door refrigerator without the LCD smart screen because it appears to not be available in black. Before I have this refigerator delivered I wanted to make sure the one listed above with the LCD smart screen will not be available in black in the near future..that is the fridge I really wanted but must have a black one.
