If your RF4289 is not able to find a wireless access point, please check the following:
• Check if the power for the wireless router is on, and make sure the WiFi is set to On in the Settings menu of the RF4289 display.
• If the router is located away from the Fridge, move it closer then check to see if it is detected. Please refer to page 62 of the User Manual for notes regarding the types of obstacles that may effect the range or quality of wireless signals.
• Turn the power of both the router and the Fridge off and on.
• Touch the Search button to detect available signals.

If your router still isn't detected, please contact your ISP (internet service provider) for help determining whether your router's signal has been hidden (closed) so as not to be detected by unknown devices. If this is the case, the registered administrator should be able to change the setting so the refrigerator can "see" your router.

If none of these solutions help to resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG for further assistance.

Question

Screensaver theme options on RF4289HARS?

I KNOW that the default photos still can not be deleted under the latest current firmware version 2.320. As a user I would appreciate a way to deselect or exclude the 10 default preloaded Epicurious images when the Screensaver theme runs so that they dont mix in and appear in the middle of my own uploaded images of my children etc. Unfortunately, I have seen the default loaded Epicurious images hundreds of times now. If you dont want to give users the option to delete them, then please just have a checkbox that says "Hide default app photos."

Question

How do I get the server to connect again.

I was listening to Pandora, and it stopped. The refrigerator was connected but the server wasn't and it said to try later. I have been trying for 2 days and it still says the server is not connected. I was getting some weather bug but not it states that the servers are not connected and to try later. I need assistance.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your connection. Go to page 2 of the Settings menu and make sure Wi-Fi is "On", then select "Wi-Fi Networks" and press "Search" if it does not do so automatically. If your home's access point does not populate the screen, then check your wireless router to make sure it is turned on and functioning properly. There are a variety of factors that can make it difficult for the wireless signal to be received. The RF4289HARS is 35-3/4" wide and should ideally be installed where it will have a minimum of 3/8" clearance on each side for ease of installation. Though Samsung does have narrower French Door models available, the RF4289 is the only French Door with the WiFi with Apps feature, and the narrowest width available for any of Samsung's current models is 32-1/4".

Question

Runs all the time

It seems as if this fridge is running all the time. Maybe off for a few minutes per hour then cranks back on (despite keeping the doors closed for hours. I do not have it on power freeze settings. Set at 38 and -2 as directed by product manual.Maybe it is me but the sound does seem a bit louder that expected as well. My old fridge did not run very often.

It's normal for the compressor to run intermittently, and as often as needed to maintain the set temperature. I would suggest checking the leveling of the fridge, which can effect the door seal and the cooling system, and make sure you have sufficient air flow around the refrigerator. Samsung recommends leaving at least 3/8" on the top and sides, and 1" in the rear.

When will there be a software update to correct bugs?

Since the 2.508 update, the time on my Google calendar is off by 6 hours, and I cannot login into Twitter. These features worked correctly prior to the 2.508 update. When will there be a software update to correct these issues? or How about reissuing an earlier software version that works? Just want to get what I paid for.

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your Google and Twitter accounts since the 2.508 software update. Please make sure the time and date are set accurately through the Settings menu on the refrigerator. If you have the option of adjusting the time format between 12 and 24-hour, try changing it.

A new release is planned in the next few weeks. Please watch for the upcoming software update.

Question

Why does touch screen forget my password?

Whenever the refrigerator gets disconnected from my WiFi enabled network it will not reconnect until I re-enter in the WiFi password. Every WiFi enabled device I have ever owned stores the required credentials to log into the network I specify and reattempts to connect when connection is lost. It's just a common feature among wireless devices. Even if there is a power failure in the refrigerator or wireless access point the refrigerator should continue trying to connect to the network previously specified until either the connection is regained or the wireless feature is disabled on the fridge.

Also, when the connection is lost the refrigerator still indicates it is connected to the network under the WiFi settings. It shows a check mark next to my network name. That is misleading to me and the repair man.

This refrigerator is way too expensive to lack basic functionality found in all other devices that connect to a network via WiFi. If it's going to have big features in it that utilize the internet they better work correctly.

If you can put me in contact with a developer for this feature I would be glad to troubleshoot with them and get this problem resolved. Also, I do have the latest software update.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your wifi connection. The LCD display on your RF4289 should remember your password and reconnect automatically to the most recently used wireless AP once the signal is restored, but it may take a minute or two to do so depending on the signal strength. If you manually select an AP through the Settings menu, it will be treated like a new connection and you'll need to reenter the password. How to edit memos

Hi,
Please make memos editable. I just upgraded the latest software. The memos have a new look now but still not editable. It just doesn't make sense. When making a grocery list one day your make a memo for eggs. The next day you can't add milk to it you have to make a new memo to write milk! Please make memos editable. i am sure this is a small change for the software developer. Thanks

Samsung recommends using a wireless AP that supports IEEE 802.11 b/g. The RF4289 does not have Ethernet connection capability. The icemaker in your RF4289HARS should start producing ice within a few hours after it cools sufficiently as long as the water is connected and initialized properly. Please make sure you check the following to ensure optimal performance:
- Is the water connected, the valve turned on and hoses unkinked and free of obstruction?
- Is your home's water pressure between 20~125 psi? Under normal conditions, a 5.75 oz. glass can be filled in about 10 seconds.
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is the freezer temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F.
- Is the icemaker turned on? Make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the display.
- Is the feeler arm under the icemaker stuck in the "up" position, which would signal to the icemaker that the bucket is full and to stop making ice.
- Is the control panel locked, which would prevent the dispenser from operating?
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place?
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water from the dispenser since installing or replacing the filter?
- Did you press the Test button on the icemaker to reset it?

If none of the above suggestions helps to resolve the issue, and the ice tray does not fill with water, try removing the water filter temporarily and press the test button on the icemaker again. If the tray fills without a filter installed, then the cartridge is likely clogged or partially clogged and should be replaced. The filter should be replaced about every 6 months based on average usage, but it could become clogged sooner if there are a lot of impurities in the water supply.

Question

Can You Hide Apps

Ever since the grocery app was added it has hidden the weather and settings apps which I use all the time. Getting to them is a lot harder now since I find hitting the arrow to move to the next row difficult. There are several apps that I never use. Can you add a feature that would allow me to hide or reorder the apps so that the most used are listed first?
