The RF4287 was designed with innovative storage bins, shelves and drawers to allow the greatest flexibility in food storage for the customer. While there is no specific dairy bin, items like butter, eggs, cheese and yogurt can be kept in a number of convenient locations, such as inside the spacious door bins or in the Flex Zone drawer, with its independent temperature settings.

Question

Home delivery issue Samsung 28 cu ft refrigerator

I just purchased RF4287HA. I would like to know if the front doors of this refrigerator and the bottom 2 drawers can be removed temporarily so that it will pass through my skinny doors? I live in an old house where the doors very small. By removing the refrigerators door I can reduce the depth.

Thanks

Yes, both the doors and the drawers can be removed from the RF4287 so it can fit through doorways as narrow as about 30-1/2", taking into account the 29-7/8" case depth plus a small margin for the water connections and power cord. Instructions for removing the doors and drawers can be found in the User Manual which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website.

Question

How to make center drawer on refrigerator more convenient?

There are a horizontal and vertical set of bars on our new 28' French door center drawer refrigerator, and they are driving us crazy! They continually move around, and we would like to remove them and set up our own configuration! We think the industrial designers lost it with this addition and think other owners may have the same complaint. Can you please tell us how to take them out?

The water from the dispenser should be cool, but not ice cold. If the water is not cool, you may have used up the water in the refrigerator's reservoir, which holds about two liters of water.

I would suggest waiting 24 hours before dispensing water. If it still isn't cold, then your refrigerator may require service. Please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

There are several noises that the icemaker may make which are normal and in some cases can be reduced by leveling or other adjustments to the installation. Other noises, such as a ratcheting or "machine gun" noise may require service. Please review the topics related to noises in the Troubleshooting Guide which you can open through this link for more details:

If you are unable to switch the ice type on your RF4287HAWP from crushed ice to cubed, check to make sure the Child Lock has not been engaged, which would be indicated by the padlock icon on the display. To disengage the Child Lock, hold the Child Lock button for about the seconds.

If the Child Lock is not engaged and you are still unable to change the ice type selection, your refrigerator may require service. Please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

It's not unusual for there to be a funny taste when the filter is initially installed. Please dispense 5-6 gallons of water to flush the system and remove air from the lines. The taste should dissipate over time.

The RF4287HAWP refrigerator does not have an "upper basket", so perhaps it is a different product you're referring to. I would suggest calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether your product is being used in a way other than what was intended, or if it requires service.

Different fruits and vegetables have different storage needs with regard to the humidity level. To give you an example, items like lettuce, spinach and berries prefer high humidity (over 90%), while onions and squash prefer lower relative humidity (under 80%). Since the RF4287HAWP features Samsung's signature Twin Cooling Plus system, which maintains an optimally high humidity level (over 70%) throughout the refrigerator, your produce should last longer compared to conventional systems regardless of the setting on the drawer. The drawer lever can complement the Twin Cooling, however: open the lever for lower humidity-loving fruits and veggies, and close the lever to increase it. A helpful trick to remember which produce loves higher humidity is to think of what items are kept on the sides of the produce aisle in the grocery stores (where they receive frequent "mistings" of water) and which are not.

Thank you for the question. The glass in the shelf above the crisper drawers can be removed by following the instructions available in the Troubleshooting Guide. Please follow the link below to open the Guide, then select "Maintenance ► Cleaning the Refrigerator ► How To Remove The Glass Shelf Above The Fruit And Vegetable Drawers": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

To remove the entire shelf, including the glass inserts, press the release tabs on both sides of the shelf support that holds the shelf in place (see picture) and pull the shelf out toward you. The shelf fits snuggly into a track at the rear of the fridge as well, but it should slide out when you pull it toward you. Make sure when you're replacing the shelf that it fits back into these tracks.

Thank you for the question. It is fine to remove the filter cartridge from the RF4287HAWP as long as you continue to use your whole house system. If at any point in time you stop using the whole house filtration system, it's important to replace the filter cartridge in the refrigerator to prevent mineral deposits or debris from damaging the water lines.
