Question

Flex drawer compartment light not working

Of the 2 led lights that illuminate the flex drawer when open, the one housed at the bottom of the left refrigerator door is not working. This is the side with the water and ice dispenser. I removed the led board and installed it in the right side door panel and it works fine. Since both lights should come on at the same time, and one of them is working, it does not seem to be a problem with the switch or power supply. Maybe a bad connection inside the door panel?

Anyone experienced the same problem?

Thanks for the question. The water filter cartridge can be removed from the RF4287HABP without inserting a blank, as long as you have an external filtration system in place. Samsung does not recommend using the water and ice feature without filtering the water due to the potential for mineral deposits or debris to damage the water lines.

Thanks for the question. If the bracket is not staying in place, it's either because it's broken or it hasn't been installed correctly. The photos you included do not show any damage, so it's likely the bracket wasn't in the right position. First, fit the bracket onto the matching part of the tilting shelf, then push it into place on the drawer front until it snaps into place securely. It may be necessary to apply a fair amount of pressure downward and angled toward the drawer front before it snaps into place.

If you continue to have difficulty installing this piece, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

What does Of mean on my refrigerator display?

Three things. We purchased a 28 Cubit (4-door) Samsung Refrigerator.
Yesterday we used ice for the first time and we quickly ran out. We placed homemade ice cream in the freezer and it thawed. Now, on the display it shows the word "of" twice. What does this mean?

The letters "OF" on the display of your RF4287 indicate the Cooling Off mode has been activated. To cancel this mode, press the Energy Saver and Power Freeze buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until a chime sounds and a numeric reading returns to the display, allowing you to set the desired temperature. The compressor should turn on in about 5 minutes and begin producing cold air.

Question

replacing water filter

Is it really essential to shut off the water before changing the filter? It will be very difficult to move our refrigerator far enough out of the way to reach the shut off valve. I am worried that moving the refrigerator could result in pulling the water line away from the connection on the back of the fridge or at the wall -- or possibly crimping the water line. Our water pressure is average.

It isn't necessary to turn off the water valve when replacing the filter, but doing so may help to alleviate pressure in the lines. If you have any difficulty removing the old cartridge or installing the new one, shutting off the water may be the solution.

Thanks for the question. It's a good idea to wash the icebucket in warm, soapy water then rinse thoroughly when you first install the refrigerator, then discard the first few batches of ice to flush the system. If this persists, check the filter to make sure it's installed correctly and is not clogged or partially clogged. While the filters are designed to last about 6 months, they may need to be replaced sooner in homes with heavier than average water use or a high level of impurities in the water supply. If, after dispensing 5-6 gallons of water to flush the system with the new filter you continue to have this occur, I would suggest calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

Question

Why Won't Flex Drawer Won't Close?

If I open my flex drawer just enough to get what i need out of it, when I go to close it, it won't close. I'll try 4 to 5 times and still won't close. I then open it all the way and sometimes it will close, but other times (most of the times)it still won't close after at least 5 to 6 attempts and/or I try to slam it shut. It is very frustrating and I don't think it should be that hard to shut it. What can I do to resolve this?

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue closing your Flex Zone Drawer. I would suggest removing the drawer insert by simply lifting it up and out of the drawer frame to determine if any items have fallen into the area under or behind the drawer and are now blocking it from closing. If there are no items in the way, check to make sure the rail itself is not blocked or misaligned, and the black metal index roller bar is securely in place.

Click here for illustrated instructions for replacing the index roller bar in the freezer. You can follow these instructions for replacing it in the Flex Zone Drawer, as well; just skip the steps that have to do with removing the upper and lower freezer drawer bins: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

If this does not help to resolve the issue, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

Is it normal to run all the time?

We received our new refrigerator a week ago and the compressor runs at least 75% of the time. It also seems loud so it is hard not to notice it. This happens in spite of the refrigerator being well stocked, having good ventilation, and seldom having the doors opened. I don't have a good basis for comparison, but running 75% of the time seems excessive. I checked the temperatures and they are always right on the money. Can this be normal?

It's normal for the cooling system to operate as much as is necessary to maintain the set temperature. Please make sure you have the recommended clearance around the outside of the refrigerator to enable air to flow, and that the vents inside are not blocked. You mentioned it "having good ventilation" but I'm not sure whether you were referring to the ventilation inside the refrigerator or outside. Also make sure it's leveled correctly to help minimize the noise.
