Thanks for the message. When first installed, it can take the refrigerator up to 24 hours to reach the set temperature, or the point at which it's cold enough to freeze water. If the water dispenser is dripping after installation, it's likely there is air in the lines which can also affect it's ability to make ice.

Please review the following checklist, making adjustments as necessary to your refrigerator:
- Is the water connected, the valve turned on and hoses unkinked and free of obstruction?
- Is your home's water pressure between 20~125 psi? Under normal conditions, a 5.75 oz. glass can be filled in about 10 seconds.
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is the freezer temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F.
- Is the icemaker turned on? Make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the display.
- Is the feeler arm under the icemaker stuck in the "up" position, which would signal to the icemaker that the bucket is full and to stop making ice.
- Is the control panel locked, which would prevent the dispenser from operating?
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place?
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water from the dispenser since installing the filter? This procedure should be followed after replacing the filter, as well.
- Did you press the Test button on the icemaker to reset it?

If none of the above suggestions helps to resolve the issue, and the ice tray does not fill with water when the Test button is pressed, try removing the water filter temporarily and press the test button on the icemaker again. If the tray fills without a filter installed, then the cartridge is likely clogged or partially clogged and should be replaced. The filter should be replaced about every 6 months based on average usage, but it could become clogged sooner if there are a lot of impurities in the water supply.

If, after checking each of these suggestions, the icemaker still isn't functioning properly, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with the Flex Zone Drawer on your RF4287. If the refrigerator is leveled correctly, the drawer should close effortlessly. Samsung refrigerators are designed to lean back slightly to help the doors and drawers close more easily. I would suggest checking the alignment with a level placed on a shelf inside the refrigerator. The bubble should be perfectly centered when checking the level both left to right and front to back. Other factors that can effect the drawer's ability to close properly include the indexing of the drawer rollers and the lubrication on the rails. To reindex the drawer rollers, first remove the drawer insert to check that the horizontal metal "index roller bar" is in place, then open the drawer about 8" and slam it closed to reindex the rollers.

It isn't unusual for there to be some resistance from friction in the rail of a new refrigerator, and this should go away over time as the lubricant on the rails spreads out. If yours does not, it may help to apply a small amount of WD40 or other lubricant approved for use on refrigerators to the rails, being sure to wipe up any excess so it doesn't come in contact with the food. If the issue still persists, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether your refrigerator will require service.

It isn't necessary to turn the water supply off to change the filter, but if you have any difficulty removing or replacing the cartridge, turning the water off may help to alleviate the pressure in the lines, making the process easier.

Question

Mechanical chatter when water dispenses

When I dispense water there is a loud mechanical chatter in the rear of the refrigerator for about 5-10 seconds. It sounds like the valve/solenoid. I flushed over three gallons of water through the refrigerator and there was no change in the sound. I have not changed the filter, as it is only one month old.

IF, I unplug the unit and wait for a minute for the display icons to go blank, then plug the unit back in it seems to function properly for some Unknown period of time before I discover it is Unresponsive. Also, when I get the unit back UP after this Failure, the Temperatures have risen 6 or 7 degrees from the desired settings. FYI, The unit is NOT in Child Lock mode.

Removing Flex Drawer and power line from RF4287

I am having a terrible time getting an RF4287 delivered. When you press the release buttons and remove the flex drawer, there is still a black power tube that controls the display on the drawer. How can that be disconnected for the drawer to be fully removed?

Thanks for your question. The black wire can be disconnected by following the instructions on page 11 of the User Manual - see steps 2 and 3. The cover on the inside right of the Flex Zone Drawer front panel is visible when you remove the drawer insert. Carefully pry this cover off with a flat-head screwdriver, then disconnect the wiring harness.

Question

Completely removing the fexzone drawer and rails from a RF4287, leaving the track of course.

We could not have a Samsung RF4287 delivered as it would not fit through our doorway. The reason was that the delivery person took off the front of the Flexzone drawer but left the rails on which extended out making the fridge another 2 inches deep. There is a release button that allows the entire drawer and rails to be removed, but a power cord runs through that the keeps the drawer from being completely removed. Is there a way to disconnect that from the fridge to allow the entire drawer and rails to be removed? Please help!

Question

replacing water filter

Is it really essential to shut off the water before changing the filter? It will be very difficult to move our refrigerator far enough out of the way to reach the shut off valve. I am worried that moving the refrigerator could result in pulling the water line away from the connection on the back of the fridge or at the wall -- or possibly crimping the water line. Our water pressure is average.

It isn't necessary to turn off the water valve when replacing the filter, but doing so may help to alleviate pressure in the lines. If you have any difficulty removing the old cartridge or installing the new one, shutting off the water may be the solution.

I had them replace the refrigerator 3 times before we received one that come close to temp setting. The current one is always set at 29 degrees and the drawer temp is 34 in the front corners and 32 at the center back.

The best option is to turn down the bottom freezer to a lower temp from
-2 to -4 or more if needed. It will help lower the drawer temp.

Question

Cooling dispensed water through door

I like my new refrigerator except for the water dispensed through the door. It comes out at room temperature instead of chilled or, better yet, icy cold!

Is this a malfunction or is there a setting I can change to make it cooler? Otherwise I'm going to have to buy a water dispenser to get colder water.

Thanks!
