Question

Ice maker not producing ice, Part 2

Based on the response to my original question, I followed all the advice given, but the ice maker still did not generate ice. The ice make was generating a funny noise, like it was trying to operate but couldn't. I replaced the ice maker, and when I did that, I could hear the water line trying to send water to the ice maker, but that did not happen. I reset the ice maker, and still no water comes to the ice maker. I am getting water out of the dispenser in the door, however, no water is going to the ice maker.

Could this be a problem with the water inlet valve at the bottom rear of the unit? Doesn’t this control the flow of water to both the ice maker and the door dispenser?

Question

Ice maker not producing ice

The ice maker is not generating ice. I've reset the ice maker but it is still not generating ice after 24 hours. I can hear a noise from the ice maker but it doesn't sounds as if it's getting any water. While the water dispenser at the front of the refrigerator works, I'm not sure water is getting to the ice maker.

Question

Flexzone drawer door sensor randomly activates and deactivates

For the last couple of months I have experiencing issue with the Flexzone drawer, where the door sensor will activate at random (the overhead LED will turn on for varied time and turn off). I have check if there are any obstructions but none were found. Also, the sensor will activates in the middle of the night, causing the door ajar alarm to sound. I have turned off the alarm already because of this annoyance but I do want to find a permanent solution for this. A repair company thought by replacing the glide rail with the magnetic sensor will solve the problem but it did not, and now they are having a hard time identifying the issue as they have never seen this problem before. Hopefully someone has this issue before and got a fix for it.

Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm sorry you're having that issue with the fridge. If you haven't already, make sure the seals around the door are cleaned thoroughly. Also, make sure the temperature is not abnormally high.

Also, could you please send us the serial number? I'd like to look into your warranty status. Thanks!

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

The recommended time to change the water filter is every 3 months, but it all depends on how often you're using the water dispenser. The indicator light on the fridge will turn red when it is time to swap out the filter. We recommend you review the following support article for more info:

Yes, it isn't unusual for there to be a small variation in the height of the fridge since the front legs can be adjusted for leveling.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

According to our home appliance specialist, most current models do not require a bypass cap. To test it, remove the filter and try to dispense water. If water dispenses, no bypass cap is required. If water does not dispense, continue holding the dispenser lever as there may be air in the line. If you hold the dispenser lever for 60 seconds and water is not dispensed, a bypass cap is required.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. For the streaks, you may want to consult the instructions for the cleaner, as this usually indicates a less than thorough polish. Our home appliance specialist indicates that it is OK if the fridge leans back slightly. He also indicates it could be an issue of how much weight is on the doors.

Question

Compressor Causes Terrible Plastic Smell

We have had this fridge for about a month and a week and it smells strongly of plastic. Everything we put in the fridge and freezer will end up tasting like plastic within a few days. Things we have tried so far:

1) Washing the insides with warm soap and water as per suggested.
2) Leaving a bowl of coffee beans inside.
3) Packages of Baking Soda (12 total.)

We have unplugged the fridge and washed it on multiple occasions. As soon as we plug it back in and the compressor starts up, the smell returns within seconds. You can smell the plastic smell blowing out of the compressor. How can we stop this? If this continues the fridge will be unusable. As it is it is extremely inconvenient and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
